Patterns of Vitamin-Mineral Supplement Use among Preschool Children in Korea (미취학 아동의 비타민 .무기질 보충제 복용 양상에 관한 연구)

  • The use of vitamin and mineral supplements among 330 preschool children was examined for relationships with general characteristics and food habits. Mean intake of vitamin and minerals obtained from supplement use was calrulated. The percrntage of preshool children receiving vitamin-mineral supplements was 34.2% and a higher percentage of use was shown in boys(p<0.05). Among preschool children, supplement use by mother and children showed some association(p<0.05). Socio-economi factors had little influence on vitamin-mineral supplement usage. There D·ere no significant differences in. weight and height between the users and non-users. The parent's main reasons f3r providing their preschoolers with vitamin-mineral supplements were that they were unsure that the preschoolers were receving sufficient nutrients from their diet, and that they were not healthy. The reasons for not feeding their children vitamin-mineral supplements were that considered the preschoolers were eating well and were healthy, therefore vitamin-mineral supplements were not necessary. The mean vitamin intake obtained from the supplements was about 2-7 times the RDA, but the level of minerals(Ca, Fe, Zn) furnished by supplement use was 1/2 of the RDA. Internal Blast Tests of Developed Explosives (개발 화약의 내폭풍압 측정)

  • Internal blast performance test on developed explosives was carried out. Internal blast means a blast wave in closed chambers like tunnels, bunkers, operation center and chamber of ships. We used Anpa tunnel for our test facility. We performed two series of tests to measure internal blast of developed explosives. Three different kinds of cast PBXs, DXD-09, DXD-10, DXD-18, and conventional explosive, Tritonal, were used in our test. The explosives were cast as a charge of 108mm diameter in a plastic tube of a 3mm thickness. The length of charges 4ere adjusted as a weight 3kg. A melt-cast explosive, tritonal, was used as a reference. Pentolite booster was used. The cylindrical boosters have a 95mm diameter and 47.5mm height. The results showed that there may be some differences between the performances in the air blast tests and those in the internal blast tests. The results showed that DXD-10, the best performance in air blast tests, showed the poorest performance in internal blast among the explosives tested. On the other hand, DXD-18 showed exactly the opposite trend. This is probably due to the highest contents of aluminum and inert binder in DXD-18. DXD-18 has $38\;wt\;\%$ of aluminum and $17\;wt\;\%$ of inert binders.

A Study on the Relationship between Sasang Constitution and Clothing Value (사상체질과 의복가치관의 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to grasp the re-lationship between Sasang constitution of the disposition side and clothing value in grown-up women in order to apply Sasang consti-tution theory to the marketing strategy in clothing industry. The study is based on a questionnaie about Sasang constitution and clothing value. The questionnarie was answered by 519 women. The data ere collected from September 12 to September 30, 1994 and analyzed by cluster analysis correlation analysis ANOVA and fac-tor analysis using SAS. The Findings of this study are as follows: 1. The women were classfied in to 3 clusters by cluster analysis :Sp-Yaung-In type (30.8%) Tae-Em-In type (40.7%) So-em-in(28.5%). 2. Correlations between SO-Yaug In type and each of clothing values showed all signifi-cant and specially social value showed high corelation(0.57163) 3. In Tae-Em-In type all correlations showed significant and esocial value showed the highest correlation of all correlations. 4. In So-Em-In type there was no corre-lation inpolitical value and the order of cloth-ing values showing high correlation was theor-etical social economic and religious value. 5. The aesthetic valu among and consti-tution types showed the lowest correlation of all correlation. By means of the about study results we may know that all women belong to three types think social value of the more important value than any other in clothing value. This is because grown-up women in korea prefer yet clothing of the harmonic and similar type to this of individual type.

The Effect of Fusible Interlining on the Appearance related Properties & Mechanical Characteristics for the Lyocell Fabric(Part I) (리오셀직물의 심지접착에 따른 외관적 성능 및 역학적 특성(제1보))

  • The goal of this research is to investigate the effect of fusible interlinings on the mechanical characteristics and appearance related values for the Lyocell fabrics. In this study, to establish optimum fusing conditions, peel strength of the fused fabrics depending on the fusing temperature, pressure and time was measured. Appearance related properties and mechanical characteristics of the fused fabrics ere determined. The reulst are as follows: In the fusing condition of $120^{\circ}C,\;3kgf/textrm{cm}^2$, 15sec, peel strength was excellent. Peel strength was excellent in the case of tencel/cotton fabric, with increasing cover factor of woven interlining, with twill and nonwoven interlining. Flex stiffness was increased in the case of tencel/cotton fabric, with increasing weight of woven interlining, with twill and nonwoven interlining. Drapability was excellent in the case of 100% tencel fabric, with decreasing weight of woven interlining, with plain and woven interlining. Crease recovery was excellent in the case of 100% tencel fabric, with increasing weight of woven interlining, with twill and woven interlining. Shear and bend properties were increased in the case of tencel/cotton fabric, with increasing weight of woven interlining, with plain and nonwoven interlining.

  • We have experienced two cases of mycotic aneurysms of the superior mesenteric artery The first case originated from septic embolism of Infective endocarditis and the second case originated from salmonella enteritis eight months before The aneurysms were diagnosed by abdominal ultrasonography and comflrmed by computed tomogram and dngiography but the blood culture was negative in both cases at the time of the surgery. Both patient ere successfully treated by resection only and the restorations of vdsculdr continuity were not neccesary because of adequate collateral circulations to the intestine. Both pd.tient's postoperative courses were uneventful after the follow up of one year and nine months, respectively.

  • Characteristics of the vortex structure and the secondary scour at downstream part of the hydraulic structure such as drainage sluice or spillway ere studied. Mean shear velocity in the scour hole could be derived by the theory of energy conservation and the amount of a vortex erosion could be obtained using entrainment equation for given value of a shear velocity. Comparison of erosion rates with others showed a large value at low shear velocity due to the continuous and strong upward flow of the macroturbulence different from the conventional vortex formed in the lee-side of a sand ripple. For a design purpose, if the flow depth at the end of an apron and the properties of bed material are given, the amount of vortex erosion can be known.

  • High strength concretes utilizing EVA with micro particles were prepared by varying polymer/binder mass ratio and curing conditions with a constant water/binder mass ratio of 0.3. The EVA modified concretes on the compressive and flexural strength, microstructure, ultrapulse modulus in curing condition(dry and water curing) were studied. Also, scanning electron microscope analysis(SEM) was performed to reveal the presence of polymer film and cement hydrates in the concrete. The compressive strength of the EVA modified concretes cured at water conditions ere higher than that of the EVA modified concretes cured at dry conditions. But, the flexural strength of the specimens cured at dry conditions were higher than that of the specimens cured at water conditions. Due to the interaction of the cement hydrates and polymer film, an interpenetrating network originated in which the aggregates were embedded. The curing of the polymer modified concrete involves two step of cement hydrates and polymer modification, and cement hydrates was promoted in water conditions and polymer film formation take place when water evaporates and was thereby was favored in dry conditions. By SEM analysis, influences of polymer modification was strengthening of the transition zone between the aggregate and the paste, and the porosity of transition zone decreases. By spring analysis, it could known that polymer film affects in porosity decrease and strengthening of transition zone.

Significance of Nasometer and First Formant for Nasal Patency After Septoplasty and Turbinoplasty (비중격 성형술 및 하비잡개 절제술 후 비개존도 측정을 위한 Nasometer와 제1포만트 측정의 유용성)

  • Background : The rhinomanometry and acoustic rhinometry can assess e nasal passage dynamically and statically Recently, analytic methods such as nasometer and sound spectrogram are gaining wide attention to evaluate the nasality objectively. Objectives : firstly to determine if ere was a relationship between the new methods and nasal airway resistance, and secondly to establish if the measurement of nasalance and sound spectrum could be used as an alternative to rhinomanometry and acoustic rhinometry. Materials and Methods : Thirty two patients who underwent either septoplasty and turbinectomy for nasal obstruction were studied. And their ages ranged form 15 to 45 years, with an average of 26.1 years. The rhinomanometry, nasometer, sound spectrogram were performed at preoperative and postoperative 4 weeks day. Results : After operation, subjective symptoms and rhinomanometric results were significantly improved but nasalance and slope of nana, mama and mamma passage had not meningful change. The significnat changes were noted in nasalance and first nasal formant frequency of nasal consonant of velum(angang). Conclusion : Nasometer and sound spectrogram had a limitation for the measure of nasal patency.

Wet Etch Characteristics of Magnetic Thin Films (자성 박막의 습식 식각 특성)

  • The wet etching characteristics of magnetic materials such as NiFe and CoFe were investigated in terms of etch rate and etch profile by using variouus etching solutions (etchants). Among the various etching solutions, HNO$_3$, HCl, and H$_2$SO$_4$were selected for the etching of magnetic materials and showed distinct results. In the case of NiFe films, faster etch rate were obtained with HNO$_3$solution. When NiFe films ere etched with HCl solution, white etch residues were found on the surface of etched films. From FEAES analysis of these etch residues, they were proved to be by-product from the reaction of NiFe with Cl element. CoFe thin films showed the similar trend to the case of NiFe films. They were etched fast in HNO$_3$ solution while Chl solution represented slow etching. The etch profiles of CoFe films showed smooth etch profile but revealed the partial etching around the patterns in HNO$_3$solution of relatively high concentration. It was observed that the etched surface was clean and smooth, and that white etch residues were also remained on the etched films.

A Study on the Present Monk′s Costume of the Korean Buddhist -Focusing on Jokye and Taego Sects- (한국불교 현행 승복에 관한 연구 -조계종과 태고종을 중심으로-)

  • The Korean Buddhism has been an effect on the Korean culture from the spipitual culture to the living culture. The Korean Buddhist costume, as an external form of the Buddhist culture, symbolizes the Buddhist ideas, the status difference of the general public, and keeps the traditional structure. The purpose of this study was to examine the monk's costume of Jokye sect and Taego sect among 47 sects,. In this study, it selected Jokye sect and Taego sect, because they are occupying important positions in the Korean Buddhism. The methods of this study depended on the documentary records, existing remains, the wearing clothing, the interviews with monks. In a changeful times, It is needed to study the actual condition of the Buddhist costume and keeps records about it. The results of this study may be stated as follows: The Buddhist costuem is composed of Chogori, Baji, Haengjon(leggins), Durumagi, Jangsam, kasa, hats, rubber shoes, Jori and Gelmang, etc. Chogori, Baji, Haengjon, Durumagi as the everyday dress are found in the Korean traditional costume. The forms and kinds of the everyday dress were the same between two sects, but the colors were different. Jangsam and kasa are the formal robe. In regard to Jangsam, two sects ere dressed in gray. But there were differences of design between two sects. Kasa was different in the forms, patterns, colors, and kinds according to the legal system of the monk and the sects.
