The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of environmental education through the modern art appreciation on the children's environmental conservation knowledge, environmental conservation attitude, and art appreciation ability of 30, 5 year old children (15 experimental groups and 15 comparative groups) of D Daycare Center in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, were selected for the study. In conslusion, environmental education through modern art appreciation had a positive effect on environmental conservation knowledge of children, environmental conservation attitude and art appreciation ability. Through this, this study would be to present teaching methods and basic materials that could improve children's environmental preservation knowledge, environmental preservation attitude and art appreciation ability.
The purpose of this study was to investigate some influencing variables related to the management behavior on environmental preservation of housewives in Pusan. The subject of this study were 411 housewives and interviewed with a questionnaire. The data was analyzed by SPSS/PC+ Program for the frequency, mean, standard deviation, Cronbach's$\alpha$, t-test, F-test, Duncan's multiple range test and regression. The major result of this study were as follows : 1. The level of Environmental Management Knowledge was relatively high. The perceived level of environmental pollution was relatively high. The score of perception on water pollution was the highest. The level of management behavior on environmental preservation was relativity low. The score of management behavior on food pollution was the highest. 2. Frequencies of management behavior on environmental preservation differ according to age, education, relegion, and mass - media. 3. The influenced level of perception on air pollution was the highest among the other variables.
The purpose of this study was to develop the educational program using learning cartoons for the environmental health and to examine the educational potentials of it. The subjects were 4th grade students of an elementary school in Gyeonggi province. The topics of environmental health learning program were obesity, atopicallergy, VDT syndrome, sick house syndrome and eco-friendly living supplies. The environmental health knowledge of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group(p<.01). Especially, the topics of VDT syndrome and sick house syndrome were effective(p<.01). Girls' environmental health knowledge about VDT syndrome was higher than that of boys(p<.05). The environmental health practice will of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group(p<.01). The students of experimental group have significant higher practice will about VDT syndrome and sick house syndrome. Girls' environmental health practice will about obesity and eco-friendly living supplies were higher than boys' will. The results showed that the learning program using learning cartoons have effective educational potentials in the environmental health education.
The purpose of this study was to investigate middle school student's environmental literacy level and variables that affect their environmental literacy. Of the students, 987 in 7th grade from big cities, medium sized cities and mountain areas participated in this study, and their environmental literacy was measured through 88 questions (27 items for knowledge, 27 items for attitude, 25 items for behavior, 9 items for skill) with 14 demographic variables. Forty-five minutes were given to answer the questions. Statistical analysis was conducted on each of the categories(knowledge, attitude, behavior, skill) that make up environmental literacy and factor analysis was also conducted to investigate variables that affect environmental literacy. Results indicated that the correlation between attitude and behavior is the strongest. Also, it was found that a demographic variable might affect one, two, or sometimes all categories of the environmental literacy. Especially students' perceptions, knowledge and attitude of science positively affect all categories of environmental literacy.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out how much influence nursing students' environmental consciousness and knowledge of medical waste have on their attitudes toward medical waste. Methods: The subjects were 211 nursing students recruited from 2 universities. Data were collected with a structured self-report questionnaire comprising measures of environmental consciousness, and knowledge of and attitude toward medical waste. Data analysis was conducted with the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: A total of 211 copies of the questionnaire were used for the final analysis, except for 9 untrusted responses out of 220 that included missing values. Those subjects' environmental consciousness who received environmental education in middle and high schools was higher (t=3.15, p=.002). The higher their grades, the better their knowledge of medical waste (F=3.40, p=.035). Those subjects' knowledge of medical waste who received medical waste education was relatively high (t=3.14, p=.002). Those subjects with clinical practice experience had more sensitive attitudes toward medical waste (t=2.06, p=.041). Those subjects' attitudes toward Medical waste who received medical waste education at the universities were relatively high (t=2.04, p=.043). The subjects' environmental consciousness was positively correlated with their attitudes toward medical waste (r=.44, p<.001). The most influential factor in their attitudes toward medical waste is their environmental attitudes and medical waste education. Conclusion: The higher the nursing students' environmental consciousness, the higher their attitudes toward medical waste. It is necessary to provide environment and medical waste education for nursing students in order to strengthen their environmental consciousness and attitude toward medical waste.
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether elementary school parents' environmental literacy varied according to independent variables, to verify specific variables that affected their environmental literacy, and to analyze the correlation between elementary school students' and their parents' environmental literacy. Twelve elementary schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi-Do were chosen for purposive sampling. 342 questionnaires were used for analysis among the 350 questionnaires collected during the study, and their environmental literacy was measured through 55 questions consisted of 12 items for knowledge category, 22 for attitude category, 5 for behavior category, and 3 for skills category with 16 demographic variables. Statistical analysis was conducted on each of the variables that make up environmental literacy through mean t-test, F-distribution, Scheffe test, and Pearson correlation. The results of this study were as follows. (1) there is the difference according to age and career in parent's actual environmental literacy, but there is no difference in geneder, birthplace, residential type, religion and income. The parents in forties scored significantly higher than parents in thirties in subdomains of environmental skill and environmental interest in environmental literacy. And the parents with bachelor's degree scored significantly higher than parents with at least a high school diploma in subdomains of ecological knowledge, knowledge on environmental problems & issue, environmental skill and environmental behavior. (2) the most influential media on parents' environmental literacy is TV, then newspaper, internet and book follow. (3) the correlation between environmental crisis and environmental interest is the highest, but the mainly negative correlation is analysed between knowledge subdomains and other subdomains. (4) there is the correlation between elementary school students' and their parents' environmental literacy.
As exchanges and cooperations among Korea, Japan and China about environmental issues become active, exchange programs about social environmental education increases. Therefore, in this study, the present state of the social environmental educations in Korea, Japan and China is analyzed and compared. The conclusions are as following. First, the social environmental education in Korea is mainly executed by NGOs about environment, religion and gender. In the social environmental education in Korea, education for sensibility in which all the people can participate such as field investigation, camping and travel holds the majority. However, the education about social-political knowledge which deals with environmental policy and economy is not sufficient. Second, in the social environmental education in Japan, the education of environmental education methods and knowledge about environmental issues, in which citizens participate such as workshop and forum holds the majority. Third, the social environmental education in China is mainly executed by CEEC under SEPA. Education toward teenagers for fostering environment-friendly attitude is mostly active, and lectures are in general. However, education for the specific knowledge of environmental issues is not enough. The social environmental education is very significant as lifelong education for environment friendly welfare society since civil decision-making leads directly the social behavior. Therefore, efforts must be made to develop the social environmental education of each countries by means of active exchange and energetic support of the social environmental education program and autonomous exchange of NGOs for the social environmental education.
Background: To describe domain knowledge consistently and precisely, the establishment of a controlled vocabulary, a so-called ontology, is essential. Internationally, the plant ontology (PO) in the ecology field has been developed for the anatomy and developmental stages of plants in English, Spanish, and Japanese, but there is no Korean version of the PO due to a lack of knowledge on standardization for Korean plants. Objectives: We aimed to establish a Korean plant ontology with core PO architectures. Methods: The latest ontology web language (OWL)-formatted raw version of the PO was collected from the PO consortium site. A formal workflow process and OWL file-handing tools for efficient Korean content development were conducted and executed. Results: The macro- and micro-perspective frameworks of the PO were presented by analyzing the upper model and the internal OWL-leveled physical structure, respectively. We developed and validated Korean knowledge content for a total of 1,957 classes included in the PO and transplanted them into an ontology modeling system. Conclusions: A Korean plant ontology was established for international harmonization through improved compatibility and data exchangeability with multilingual environmental and ecological knowledge bases.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the direction of how to educate water shortage problem to middle school students. In the reality that many people of the world have been painful of the water shortage problem, Korea is classified as 'water shortage country'. Here, we investigated the awareness of middle school students about the contents related to the water shortage problem by surveying with the questionnaires developed in this study. And we analyzed how water shortage problem appeared in the environmental textbook of middle school. Based on these, we examined the direction of environmental education in middle school on the theme of the water shortage problem. The results of the survey showed that students revealed difference of knowledge and experience, and also revealed difference of knowledge and feeling related to the water shortage problem. The students had the knowledge about water shortage problem but they did not have experience in their real lives. Also, the results of the survey showed that students had attitude of waste in water use, even though they had awareness and knowledge about the importance of water resources. And the students did not have enough knowledge related to the water shortage problem. From the analysis of the textbooks, We found that the contents were not composed to enhance deep understanding of the students about the water shortage problem. Based on the analysis of the results, the directions of middle school environmental education in Korea about water shortage problem were extracted in this research.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the effects of the environmental education system focusing on the knowledge, attitude and practice in relation to environmental education to the students in Mokpo middle school. The study is accomplished by the survey which includes a total of 268 inquiry lists sampled from four groups of the middle school, one of which composing of two middle schools having the environmental curriculum, hereafter referred as 'the case group' and the other group of two middle schools without the curriculum, hereafter referred as the 'the control group'. From the results of the average scores on the environmental knowledge, attitude and practice between the two groups, the case group showed better knowledge scores than the control group (p<0.05). The case group with environmental education were relatively high to the control group without environmental education to the attitude(p<0.05), and did not showed signifiant differences in the environmental practice. From the results of stepwise multiple regression analysis, the factor affecting the environmental knowledges was the interest in the environment problems ($R^2=0.130$), economic status, academic achievement and the necessity of environment conservations in order. The factor most affecting to environmental attitude and practice were the interest in environmental problems of the parents.
