An Accurate Method to measure Shielding Effectiveness of EMI Spray Coating Film (EMI 스프레이 코팅막의 차폐효과를 측정하기 위한 정확한 방법)

  • An accurate method to measure shielding effectiveness(SE) of EMI spray coating film is presented. After high frequency simulating, Circular coaxial standard test fixture is fabricated. A sample of EMI spray coating film was fabricated for insertion into a circular coaxial standard test fixture. The measuring instrument used an Agilent 8722ES vector network analyzer for the SE measurement. The exact SE of copper and silver mixed spray coating sample was measured by the composition of the measuring instrument and the measuring sample. The SE of copper sample was measured at 70 dB and the SE of copper and silver mixed spray coating sample was measured at 60 dB. As a result of the measurement, the reliability of the circular coaxial standard test fixture was confirmed.

Analysis for Shielding Effectiveness of EMI Spray Coating Layers in 3D Structure (3차원 구조에서 EMI 스프레이 코팅막의 차폐효과 분석)

  • The shielding effectiveness (SE) of the EMI spray coating film was measured in a three-dimensional structure. The shielding effectiveness was measured by AST D4935 using coaxial type TEM cell. A standard sample of the cylindrical slab is fabricated to measure the shielding effectiveness using the ASTM D4935. At this time, spray coating was performed by bonding a three-dimensional structure with NAND flash memory to a standard sample. In the case of spray coating, it was uniformly coated not only on the horizontal plane but also on the vertical plane of the three-dimensional structure. As a result of measurement, shielding effectiveness of maximum 59 dB was measured in a three-dimensional structure similar to the case without three-dimensional structure. As a result, it was confirmed that the spray coating can be uniformed even in the three-dimensional structure.

Improvement for Shielding Effectiveness of EMI Shield Layers using Conformal Spray Coating Scheme (콘포멀 스프레이 코팅으로 형성한 EMI 차단막의 차폐효과 개선)

  • Shielding effectiveness (SE) improvement with EMI shield layers fabricated by conformal spray coating system was studied. Silver or Nickel powder filled acrylic resin were sprayed on the samples. We compared the performance with the viscosity of 400 cPs and 100 cPs cases. The thickness range of the coating layer was 20 to 50 um for the silver, 60 to 120 um for the nickel. The shielding effectiveness was measured by ASTM D4935 using coaxial type TEM-cell. The silver-filled resin showed much better performance than that of the nickel-filled resin. The shielding effectiveness increased almost proportional to the thickness of the coating layers until being saturated around 63 dB for the silver-layer or around 34 dB for the nickel-layer. The best performance measured in this study was the shielding effectiveness of 63 dB with $35{\mu}m-thick$ of silver-layer.
