  • this paper proposes a filter design that makes to be satisfied EMC spec. in reliability test of analogue switch for electronic equipment and air conditioning load unit. A designed electromagnetic wave filter was applied to minimize an mutual interference and surrounding environment and improve the product's quality being satisfied to EMC standard. By simulation, using a spectrum analyzer at the 30MHz~1GHz band, ISO/JASO standard frequency range, and simplified EMI chamber, energy distribution of a specific frequency band was analyzed and the capacity of the element which composed the filter was determined in order to implement the most suitable electromagnetic wave filter. In fact, it was certificated that noise decrease by filter addition to the analogue switch for electronic equipment and air conditioning load unit in Certification Authority, and confirmed that the unit is carried out a normal action without electromagnetic wave interference.

  • The speed and position information of the rotor are required in the speed control of SRM(Switched Reluctance Motors). This information is generally provided by shaft encoder or resolver. It is weak in the dusty, high temperature, and EMI environment. Consequntly, much attention has been given to SRM control for eliminationating the position and speed sensors. In this paper, a new estimation algorithm for the rotor position and speed for SRM drives is described. The algorithm is implemented by the sliding mode observer. The stability and robustness of the sliding observer for the parameter variations of the SRM are proved by variable structure control theory. Speed control of the SRM is accomplished by the estimated speed and position. Experiment results verify that the mode observer is able to estimate the speed and position well.

  • Typically electronic resistance type sensors have been used for measurement system of high-speed trains. But due to a large number of measurement quantities, we had difficulties in installing and maintaining the cables that connect sensors and measuring devices. Furthermore, signals obtained from the electronic resistance type sensors are often distorted because the sensors and cables are vulnerable to electro-magnetic interference (EMI). In this paper the characteristic of FBG sensors are compared with those of electronic resistance type sensors in application for the measurement system of high-speed trains. FBG sensors have advantages because of their multiplexing characteristic and robustness to EMI environment.

  • Discharge characteristics research for high voltage and large current electric machinery design, the development of ozonizer with high yield and efficiency for environment improvement, generation of plasma & laser and EMI EMC are research fields of Enersy & Environment Electromagnetic Laboratory(EEEL) in the school of electrical & electronic engineering of Yeungnam University. On this paper, we would like to introduce the discharge and ozone generation characteristics of ozonizers designed and manufactured by EEEL. After starting research for fluid gas discharge characteristics early in the 1980's, high voltage nozzle(HVN) type ozonizer, neon lamp(Nelamp) type ozonizer, ozone lamp(Olamp) type ozonizer and multi-discharge type ozonizer(MDO) have been investigated since 1990.

  • - A car is a means of transporting passengers or cargo on the ground by transmitting power from the engine to the wheels. In the past, automobiles started from internal combustion engines have recently been introduced with hybrid electric vehicles and pure electric vehicles. As a result, the deployment of high-tech electrical and electronic products is inevitably increased due to the development of technology and stability of various parts, resulting in a more complicated and diversified electromagnetic environment. CISPR 25 is conducting research on the test method for electromagnetic noise. In order to analyze the noise pattern according to the GND condition required in the radiation emission test, various conditions are applied for comparison. 2 Page - General characteristics of EMI chambers, techniques for testing and measuring equipmen 3 Page - RE test : Analysis of Noise due to Ground Strap Change when Sample is in Center, Analysis of Noise due to Ground Strap Changes when the Sample is not in the Center.

  • The error performance of digital radio signals (i.e., M-ary PSK signal, DQPSK signal, MSK signal, GMSK signal) interfered by impulsive noise and electromagnetic interference (EMI) is analyzed and discussed. In analysis at first, the error rate equations have been derived in an electromagnetic interference plus impulsive noise environment. And then, the error performance has been evaluated and shown in figures as a function of carrier-to-noise ratio, carrier-to-interference ratio, impu- lsive index, gaussian noise to impulsive noise power ratio, and interference index to measure the amount of error degradation in digital radio signals. From the obtained results we have known that in the presence of m-distributed tone interference plus inpulsive noise, the more significant the electromagnetic interference amplitude varies, the more significant performance degradation is produced. The listing the digital radio signals from the most degraded to the least is that DQPSK, GMSK, QPSK and MSK signal. In the constant amplitude tone interference plus impulsive noise environment, the effect of in- terference nearly disappears over about 20dB in CIR. The effect of constant tone interference on error rate performance is reduced more remarkably in the region from 10dB to 15dB in CIR. In both enviroments of m-distributed tone interference and constant amplitude tone interference, the more electromagnetic interference amplitude varies and CIR increases, the more error perfor- mance is improved. But it is found out that the performance can not be improved significantly even the electromagnetic interference becomes weak. This describes that the impulsive noise affects dominantly to the performance degradation.

  • Refractory industry in technologically advanced countries has long been on gradual decline due to leveled-off steel production and decreasing unit consumption of refractories for steel. Notable technological achievements by refractory industry that contributed significantly to steel production are briefly reviewed covering from blast furnace, basic oxygen furnace to continuous casting. Future possibility to revitalize the refractory industry is discussed on the basis of the review, taking into account opportunities available in environment and energy related sector of industries.

  • The error rate performances of digital modulation systems which are influenced by impulsive noise have been studied in the environment of electromagnetic interference(EMI). We have derived the error probability equations of L-level ASK, M-ary PSK, MSK, QAM, and APK signals. Using these derived equations, we have evaluated the performance of each system and compared each other.

  • CISPR(Committee Internationale Special des Perturbations Radio Electriques) has proposed limits on the noises emitting from power lines and signal lines. But different measurement environment and different measurement methods are used in different countries. This difference causes much confusion in understanding the results measured by different test laboratories. In this paper, we measure EMI noise using the absorbing clamp method that takes short measurement time and is described in CISPR 13, 14-1, 16-2. We analyze the cause of the difference of measurement results.
