Prediction of initiation time of corrosion in RC using meshless methods

  • Degradation of reinforced concrete (RC) structures due to chloride penetration followed by reinforcement corrosion has been a serious problem in civil engineering for many years. The numerical simulation methods at present are mainly finite element method (FEM) and finite difference method (FDM), which are based on mesh. Mesh generation in engineering takes a long time. In the present article, the numerical solution of chloride transport in concrete is analyzed using radial point interpolation method (RPIM) and element-free Galerkin (EFG). They are all meshless methods. RPIM utilizes radial polynomial basis, whereas EFG uses the moving least-square approximation. A Galerkin weak form on global is used to attain the discrete equation, and four different numerical examples are presented. MQ function and appropriate parameters have been proposed in RPIM. Numerical simulation results are compared with those obtained from the finite element method (FEM) and analytical solutions. Two case of chloride transport in full saturated and unsaturated concrete are analyzed to test the practical applicability and performance of the RPIM and EFG. A good agreement is obtained among RPIM, EFG, and the experimental data. It indicates that RPIM and EFG are reliable meshless methods for prediction of chloride concentration in concrete structures.

Element-free Galerkin 방법을 이용한 적응적 균열진전해석 (Adaptive Crack Propagation Analysis with the Element-free Galerkin Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 element-free Galerkin(EFG) 방법에 기반한 적응적 정적균열진전해석기법을 제시하였다. 균열진전 매단계마다 적응적해석을 수행함으로써 전체 해석의 일관성과 정밀성을 동시에 확보할 수 있었다. 균열진전과정에 있어서의 적응적해석은 산정된 오차지표에 따라 적분을 위한 격자구조에 따라 절점을 추가하고 소거하는 과정을 통해 구현되었다. 이 때 사용된 오차지표는 원 EFG해석결과 얻어진 응력과 절점응력을 다시 투영한 응력의 차에 의해 얻어졌다. 제안된 해석기법의 타당성과 효용성을 수치예제에 의해 검증하였다. 그 결과 제안된 해석기법이 균열진전해석시 효율적으로 적용될 수 있음을 보였다.

유치원 친환경급식 실시에 따른 학부모의 인식도 및 유아의 식행동 (Parental Perception and Dietary Behaviors of Preschool Children with Environment-friendly Food Service in Kindergarten)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the differences in households, parental perception, and dietary behaviors of preschool children from kindergartens with environment-friendly food service (environment-friendly food service group; EFG) versus children from kindergartens with general food service (general food service group; GFG). We sought this basic information to examine the impact of environment-friendly agricultural products in preschool food services. Age, education level, and monthly family income of the EFG were significantly higher than the GFG. The frequency of purchasing environment-friendly agricultural products was significantly higher in the EFG than the GFG, with the most frequently purchased items in both groups being vegetables. The GFG had a significantly higher perception than the EFG in the superior quality of environment-friendly agricultural products; however, a greater proportion of the GFG than the EFG thought environment-friendly products were too expensive. The most frequent reason for purchasing environment-friendly agricultural products in both groups was safety. When purchasing environment-friendly agricultural products, the most important selection factor for the majority of both groups was the label certifying quality assurance. Both groups also considered price reduction as essential for promoting environment-friendly agricultural products. In regard to parental perceptions on food service in kindergarten, the EFG had a significantly higher satisfaction with the nutritional adequacy of the menu compared to the GFG. Both groups considered food safety and health as primary reasons for using environment-friendly foods in the preschool food service, with a greater proportion of the EFG than the GFG responding this way. There were significant differences between the EFG and GFG, as the main satisfaction from using environment-friendly foods in the EFG was safety, freshness, and good hygiene, whereas the main satisfaction in the GFG was a good food service menu, freshness and good hygiene. Dietary behaviors of preschool children in the EFG were also significantly superior to the GFG. Thus, environment-friendly agricultural products have positive effects on the dietary behaviors of preschool children and should be increased in the preschool food service. Lowering prices and a strict supervision of quality assurance is also necessary to promote consumption of environment-friendly food materials.

생체-전기적 반응에 의한 한의학적 진단시스템의 설계 (Design of Oriental Medicine diagnosis system by Bio-Electric Response)

  • 인체 생리의 부조화에 의한 기능적 이상 진단이 가시화 장비나 임상병리 소견으로도 진단할 수 없는 경우가 있기 때문에, 현대과학과 의공학의 특성을 접목한 EFG(Electro Functio Gram:기능전도) 측정 개념의 진단기술 개발이 요구되고 있다. 따라서 이러한 기능적 진단기술을 이용하여 양ㆍ한방 모든 분야에서 기초 진단기로 사용할 수 있는 재현성과 신뢰성, 편리성을 갖춘 범용의 진단시스템으로 개발하였다. 또한, 한의학적진단 및 치료를 위한 기와 혈의 인체 순환을 진단할 수 있는 사지 8CH(양,음경락), 두부 2CH 동시계측 방법 및 일괄 부착식 전극을 개발하였다. 성인 남자 20명(정상인)을 대상으로 한 임상데이터 분석결과, 인체의 12경락의 상태 및 자율신경계통의 상태를 진단할 수 있어서, 진단장비로써의 유의성을 확인하였다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 인체 12부위의 음경락 양경락을 측정할 수 있는 H/W 및 S/W을 구현하고, EFG 체계를 구축하여 생체-전기적 반응에 의한 한의학적 진단 시스템을 설계하였다.

EFG법에 의한 Sapphire Ribbon 단결정 성장 (Sapphire Ribbon Single Crystal Growth by EFG Method)

  • Shaped crystal growth apparatus were made for sapphire ribbon single crystal growth. Sapphire ribbon single crystal are grown by EFG(Edge-defined Film-fed Growth) methdo for use as watch-glass and SOS(Silicon-On-Sapphire) devices. Sapphire ribbon crystals were grown to be 40min wide, 1.8mm thick, 96mm long. Therelationshiops between growth striation and surface roughness, with various growth rates, were investigated and compared. It was found that sapphire ribbon crystal is suitable for watch-glass by measuring the transmittance in the visible light region.

  • In suite of their superior optical and laser properties rare-earth orthovanadate single crystals have not been adopted yet into extensive industrial applications because of crystal growth difficulties. The edge-defined film-fed-growth (EFG) technique was applied successfully for the production of such crystals. At first time 1 inch $LuVO_4$ single crystals were grown by the EFG technique using newly developed die construction of high porous iridium with the application of automatic diameter control system.

Nonlinear aerostatic analysis of long-span suspension bridge by Element free Galerkin method

  • The aerostatic stability analysis of a long-span suspension bridge by the Element-free Galerkin (EFG) method is presented in this paper. Nonlinear effects due to wind structure interactions should be taken into account in determining the aerostatic behavior of long-span suspension bridges. The EFG method is applied to investigate torsional divergence of suspension bridges, based on both the three components of wind loads and nonlinearities of structural geometric. Since EFG methods, which are based on moving least-square (MLS) interpolation, require only nodal data, the description of the geometry of bridge structure and boundaries consist of defining a set of nodes. A numerical example involving the three-dimensional EFG model of a suspension bridge with a span length of 888m is presented to illustrate the performance and potential of this method. The results indicate that presented method can effectively be applied for modeling suspension bridge structure and the computed results obtained using present modeling strategy for nonlinear suspension bridge structure under wind flow are encouragingly acceptable.

  • EFG 장치를 설계제작하여 ${\Alpha} - Al_2O_3$ tube 형태의 단결정을 육성하였다. 서로 다른 두 개의 heating arrangement를 고안하여 각각의 결정 성장조건을 비교 검토하였으며, 각각의 heating arrangement에서 성장된 tube 단결정의 결함을 비교하여 안정한 성장 조건을 확립하였다.

  • In this paper, several improved Element-Free Galerkin (EFG) methods containing singular expression in their approximation functions are compared one another through a patch test with near-tip field. Intrinsic enrichments that expand the basis function partially and fully with known near-tip displacement field and a local enrichment using auxiliary supports based on the partition of unity concept are examined by evaluating a relative stress norm error and the stress intensity factor. Some numerical examinations graphically show that how the size of compact support, dilation parameter and the diffraction parameter can affect the accuracy of the improved EFG methods in the error and the stress intensity factor.

  • 본 연구에서는 요소를 사용하지 않는 새로운 해석방법인 EFG(Element-Free Galerkin)법을 사용하여 복수의 초기균열을 지닌 강재가 반복피로하중을 받는 경우 균열들이 점진적으로 성장하여 부재가 파단에 이르는 과정을 해석적으로 규명하였다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 일반적인 피로균열성장법칙을 EFG법을 이용한 균열해석 알고리즘에 적용하여 복수의 균열들이 각각의 응력상태에 따라 차별적으로 성장해 나가는 과정을 해석할 수 있는 알고리즘을 도입하고 이를 바탕으로 다양한 하중상태하에서 복수의 균열들의 성장경로를 추정함과 동시에 이에 따른 잔존수명을 산정할 수 있는 기법을 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 제안된 해석방법을 피로균열 발생빈도가 큰 몇가지의 강부재 형태에 적용해 본 결과 다수균열 함유 부재의 피로균열 성장거동과 균열들의 피로수명을 성공적으로 예측할 수 있었다.
