Recurrent hemoptysis in a 26-year-old woman with a ground-glass opacity lesion of the lung

  • Hemoptysis is a major reason for emergency department (ED) visits. Catamenial hemoptysis (CH), a rare condition of thoracic endometriosis, can cause recurrent hemoptysis but is difficult to diagnose in the ED due to the scarcity of cases and nonspecific clinical findings. We report a case of a 26-year-old woman who presented to the ED with recurrent hemoptysis since 2 years without a definite cause. Her vital signs and blood test findings were unremarkable. Chest computed tomography (CT) did not show any specific lesions other than a non-specific ground-glass opacity pattern in her right lung. She was on day 4 of her menstrual cycle and her hemoptysis frequently occurred during menstruation. Although there was no histological confirmation, based on her history of hemoptysis during menstruation and no other cause of the hemoptysis, the patient was tentatively diagnosed with CH and was administered gonadotropin-releasing hormone. She had no recurrence of hemoptysis for 3 months. While CH is difficult to diagnose in the ED, the patient's recurrent hemoptysis related to menstruation was a clue to the presence of CH. Therefore, physicians should determine the relationship between hemoptysis and menstruation for women of childbearing age presenting with repeated hemoptysis without a definite cause.

  • The purpose of this study is to find some directions to enhance high school students' recognitions for the necessity of Home Economics(HE) education. 309 respondents were sampled from boys', girls' and co-ed high schools in Chongju. The questionnaire consisted of some items about the respondents' interest, necessity, and the required level for HE. The results are as follows : 1) Students from girls' high school and co-ed high school showed more interest in HE than did the students from boys' high school. 2) The recognition of the necessity for learning HE in high school was significantly differed according to the school systems. 3) The demand level on HE was 52.8 out of 100 point, which is fairly low. Girls from co-ed high school showed higher demand on HE than did the girls' high school. 4) The highest demand level of students in the detailed domains of HE was on consumption. And the students showed a comparatively high demand on health, job, and consumption, while showing low demand on clothing. 5) Students from boys' high school and co-ed high school favored practice-oriented HE education.

  • 본 논문은 ESA(Error Sharing Agent)의 설계와 구축을 설명한다. ESA는 멀티미디어 협동 작업 환경에서 소프트웨어 오류를 감지, 공유, 복구하기에 적합한 시스템이다. 이 시스템은 ED, ES, ER로 구성되어 있다. ED는 훅킹기법으로 오류를 감지한다. ES는 멀티미디어 공동 작업 환경에서 오류를 공유하는 에이전트이다. 이 시스템에 의해서 오류를 공유할 수 있다. 멀티미디어 공동 작업 환경의 관점에서 오류 공유는 협동 작업에 참가하는 참가자에게 상호작용적으로 오류를 공유한다. 본 논문에서 멀티미디어 공동 작업 환경에서 하나의 오류 응용을 미디어로 취급하는 방법을 제안한다.

Effects of Hybrid and Maturity on Maize Stover Ruminal Degradability in Cattle Fed Different Diets

  • The effect of maize hybrid (Suco and Dekalb 765, DK 765), maturity stage (milk, $R_3$ and 1/2 milk line, $R_5$) and animal diet (Diet 1: 70% lucerne hay+30% maize silage; Diet 2: 50% maize silage+20% sunflower meal+30% maize grain) on ruminal stover dry matter (DM) degradability was studied. Additionally, morphological and chemical plant composition was evaluated. Fodder samples ground at 2 mm were incubated in three Holstein steers (400 kg body weight) using the in situ technique. Ruminal degradation kinetics was studied and the effective degradability (ED) was estimated for an assumed kp of 5%/h. The in situ data was analyzed in a complete randomized block design with the animals as blocks. Significant interactions between hybrid${\times}$diet and maturity${\times}$diet on kinetic digestion parameters were detected. In Diet 1, hybrids did not differ in degradable fraction, kd or ED, although a minor difference (p<0.05) in the soluble fraction was found (25.5 and 23.2% for Suco and DK 765, respectively). In Diet 2, the DK 765 had greater degradable fraction (p<0.001) but smaller (p<0.01) kd than Suco, without differences in the soluble fraction or in ED. Anticipating the harvest increased ED of stover from 37.5% in $R_5$ to 44.6% in $R_3$ (average values across hybrids and diets) due to the increase (p<0.001) in the soluble fraction ($R_5$: 22.6%, $R_3$: 28.8%). It is concluded that hybrids had similar stover in situ DM degradability and that soluble fraction represent the main proportion of degradable substrates. Advancing the date of harvesting may not improve the in situ DM degradability of whole maize plant silage since the increase in stover quality is counteracted by the depression in the grain-to-stover ratio. The diet of the animal consuming silage might not improve stover utilization either.

  • 앞의 연구에서 우리는 진세노사이드 Rc, Rd, Re 및 Rr를 복강내 전 처리할 경우 포르말린으로 유도된 통증을 억제하다는 것을 보고하였다 그러나 이러한 진세노사이드가 어느 위치에서 항통증작용을 발휘하는가에 대하여서는 아직 알려지지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이들 진세노사이드를 뇌실내, 척수강내 혹은 피하내 전처리한 다음 포르밀린에 의하여 유도되는 통증이 어느 위치에서 억제되는가를 연구하였다. 연구 결과 이들 진세노사이드는 척수강내 전처리할 경우 포르말린에 의하여 유도되는 통증을 억제하는 것으로 나타났다. 급성 통증 phase에서 ED$_{50}$는 Rc가 1.0 (0.SS~l.75mg/kg)이었고, Rd가 1.15 (0.6~2.25 mg/kg)이었고, Re가 8.9(3.9~20.5 mg/kg)이었다. 지속성 통증 phase에서 ED$_{50}$는 Rc가0.3 (0.1~0.85 mg/kg)이었고, Rd가 0.6 (0.35~l.1 mg/kg)이었고, Re가 2.45 (1.2s~4.65 mg/kg)이었고, Rf가 1.9(1.5~4.25 mg/kg)인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 뇌실내 전처리할 경우에도 이들 진세노사이드들은 포르말린에 의하여 유도되는 통증을 억제하였다. 급성통증 phase에서 ED$_{50}$는 Rc가 0.9 (0.55~l.4 mg/kg)이었고, Rd가0.9 (0.45~l.7 mg/kg)이었고, Re가 0.93 (0.Sol.75 mg/kg), Rf가1.85 (0.95~3.5 mg/kg)인 것으로 나타났다. 지속성 통증 phase에서는 ED$_{50}$는 Rc가 0.7 (0.45~l.05 mg/kg)이었고, Rd가 1.25(0.7~2.2 mg/kg)이었고, Re가 0.85 (0.45~l.6 mg/kg)이었고, H의 경우에는 0.8 (0.4~l.45 mg/kg) 이었다. 항통증 효능 potency는 두 가지 투여 경로에 있어서 Rc$\geq$Rd>Re>Rf인 것으로 나타났다. 그러나, 피하내 주사는 포르말린에 의하여 유도되는 통증을 억제하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 진세노사이드에 의한 항통증 작용은 척수 수준 및 척수위 수준에서 이루어진다는 것을 보여주고 있다.보여주고 있다.

  • 6-[(N-3,4-Dibromophenyl)amino]-7-chloro-5,8-quinolinedione(FCK13) was tested for antifungal activities. The MIC values were determined by the two-fold dilution method. The therapeutic potential of RCK13 had been assessed in comparison with ketoconazole and fluconazole against systemic infections with candida albicans in normal mice. RCK13 had ED50,0.80$\pm$0.21 mg/kg but ketoconazole had ED50, 8.00$\pm$0.73 mg/kg respectively. And administered RCK13 at the ED50 for 14 days improved survival rates as well as ketoconazole. Acute oral toxicity studies of RCK13 were carried out in ICR mice of both sexes. These acute oral toxicities of RCK13 were low and LD50 values were over 2,850 mg/kg in ICR mice. The genotoxicities of RCK13 had been evaluated. RCK13 was negative in Ames test with Salmonella typhimurium and chromosomal aberration test in CHL cells. The clastogenicity was tested on the RCK13 with in vivo mouse micronucleus assay. RCK13 did not show any clastogenic effect in mouse peripheral blood and was negative in mouse micronucleus assay. These results indicate that RCK13 has no genotoxic potential under these experimental conditions.

  • The International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC) 61000-4-15 is a standard proposing techniques for a flicker meter test and measurement method. The IEC61000-4-15 ed1 announced in 1997 was not include tests for accurate verification. Also it was not explained flicker meter algorithm that can be directly applied to the other power systems. But the new edition of IEC61000-4-15 ed2 prescribes a variety of tests for verify flicker meter algorithm and it explains 'correction factor' used for measuring flicker in other power systems. It can measure flicker severity in 220V system by multiplying correction factor to the measured values with the 230V algorithm. This paper compared the method of measuring flicker severity in korea power system using the correction factor and the modified weighting filter, after verifying of digital flicker meter algorithm created by using matlab based on IEC61000-4-15 ed2.

  • A strategy for phase identification of precipitates in high Al-containing austenitic and ferritic steels using electron diffraction (ED) is studied. Comparative studies of the various Al-containing precipitates (k-carbide, $Ni_3Al$, $Fe_3Al$, FeAl) show the similarities of crystal structure and lattice parameter. However, the slight differences of lattice parameter and structure display characteristic ED patterns (EDPs) which can be identified. $L1_2$ k-carbide and $Ni_3Al$ can be differentiated by the length of ${\rightarrow}_g$ (the reciprocal lattice vector), even though they show perfectly identical shapes of EDPs. $DO_3$ $Fe_3Al$ and $B_2$ FeAl show the characteristic EDs in [110] and [112] beam directions due to the differences of Fe site occupancies in unit cells. k-carbide, $Ni_3Al$, and FeAl show also the similar EDs in [112], [112], and [110] beam directions, respectively. All the possible similarities of EDs among each phases and the strategy for phase identification are discussed on the bases of kinematical ED simulation.

자연휴양림(自然休養林) 매력물(魅力物)의 기대불일치(期待不一致)가 이용만족도(利用滿足度)에 미치는 영향(影響) - 자연휴양림의 휴양자원과 시설을 중심으로 - (The Effects of Expectancy-Disconfirmation of Attraction Affecting Visitor's Satisfaction in Natural Recreation Forests - Focused on Recreational Resources and Facilities -)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 자연휴양림 매력물의 기대불일치가 이용만족도에 미치는 영향을 규명하는 것이다. 자연휴양림의 자원과 시설, 기대불일치, 이용만족도에 관한 이론적 고찰을 통해 자연휴양림의 매력물을 도출하고 개념적 틀을 설정하였다. 본 연구의 자료는 2004년 여름철에 3개의 자연휴양림 이용자 415명을 대상으로 한 설문조사를 통해 수집되었다. 분석결과, 1) 각 매력물 중 이용자 흥미자원의 기대도와 성취도 수준이 가장 높았다. 2) 자연휴양림 매력물에 대한 기대도와 성취도간에는 1% 유의 수준에서 통계적 차이가 있었다. 3) 기대불일치가 가장 심한 매력물은 안전시설이었으며, 기대불일치가 적은 매력물은 생물적 자원(식물)으로 나타났다 4) 이용만족도는 매력물의 기대불일치가 클수록 낮아지는 것으로 평가되었다. 5) 다변량 분석결과, 물리적 자원, 사회문화적 자원, 숙박시설, 기반시설, 안전시설, 위생시설, 교육시설의 기대불일치가 1% 유의수준에서 이용만족도에 영향을 미치는 변수로 규명되었으며, 매력물 중 이용만족도의 값의 변화에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 변수는 기반시설의 기대불일치인 것으로 평가되었다.
