long with the rapid spread of the Internet, a new class of commercial applications which process transactions with respect to electronic dictionaries become popular Typical examples are Internet search engines. In this paper, we present a new approach to achieving high performance electronic dictionaries. Different from the conventional approach which use Trie data structures for the implementation of electronic dictionaries, our approach used multi-dimensional binary trees. In this paper, we present the implementation of our electronic dictionary ED-MBT(Electronic Dictionary based on Multidimensional Binary Tree). Exhaustive performance study is also presented to assess the performance impact of ED-MBT on the real world applications.
It is expected that advanced high strength steels (AHSS) would be widely used for vehicles with better performance in automotive industries. One of distinctive features of AHSS is the high value of carbon equivalent (Ceq), which results in the different properties in formability, weldability and paintability from those of common grade of steel sheets. There is an exponential relation between Ceq and electric resistance, which seems also to have correlation with the thickness of electric deposition (ED) coat. Higher value of Ceq of AHSS lower the thickness of ED coat of AHSS. Some elements of AHSS such as silicon, if it is concentrated on the surface, affect negatively the formation of phosphates. In this case, silicon itself doesn't affect the phosphate, but its oxide does. This phenomenon is shown dramatically in the welding area. Arc welding or laser welding melts the base material. In the process of cooling of AHSS melt, the oxides of Si and Mn are easily concentrated on the surface of boundary between welded and non‐welded area because Si and Mn could be oxidized easier than Fe. More oxide on surface results in poor phosphating and ED coating. This is more distinctive in AHSS than in mild steel. General results on paintability of AHSS would be reported, being compared to those of mild steel.
Electrodialysis(ED) is a reliable and effective process for the separation and concentration of ionic compounds. However, commercial uses of ED are often hindered by the cost of the stack that mainly resulted from the ion-exchange membrane cost. In order to minimize the membrane cost, it is desired to operate ED at the highest practicable current density. In an actual ED system the high current operation is limited by the concentration polarization phenomenon. This article illustrates the transport phenomena of ions through ion exchange membranes using current-voltage relations as a characterizing method. Also recent studies on electroconvection and water-spitting phenomena caused by concentration polarization were reviewed.

Whole spine scanography (WSS) is a radiological examination that exposes the whole body of the individual being examined to x-ray radiation. WSS is often repeated during the treatment period, which results in a much greater radiation exposure than that in routine x-ray examinations. The aims of the current study were to evaluate the patient dose of WSS using computer simulation, image magnification and angulation of phantom image using different patient position. We evaluated the effective dose(ED) of 23 consecutive patients (M : F = 13:10) who underwent WSS, based on the automatic image pasting method for multiple exposure digital radiography. The Anterior-Posterior position(AP) and Posterior-Anterior position( PA) projection EDs were evaluated based on the PC based Monte Carlo simulation. We measured spine transverse process distance and angulation using DICOM measurement. For all patient, the average ED was 0.069 mSv for AP position and 0.0361 mSv for PA position. AP position calculated double exposure then PA position. For male patient, the average ED was 0.089 mSv(AP) and 0.050 mSv(PA). For female patient, the average ED was 0.0431 mSv(AP) and 0.026 mSv(PA). The transverse process of PA spine image measured 5% higher than AP but angulation of transverse process was no significant differences. In clinical practice, just by change the patient position was conformed to reduce the ED of patient. Therefor we need to redefine of protocol for digital radiography such as WSS. whole spine scanography, effective dose, patient exposure dose, exposure direction. protocol optimization.

Electrical discharge drilling (ED-drilling) is a widespread machining method used to bore small holes with a high aspect ratio. This paper presents additional methods by which ED-drilling can improve machining speed, tool wear, and machined surface quality. Firstly, for high machining speed, and low tool wear, a new-type electrode that was ground on one side or both sides of the cylindrical electrodes was suggested to expel debris. The debris which is generated during the machining process can cause sludge deposition and secondary discharge problems: major reasons to decrease machining speed. This new-type electrode also reduced tool wear that was due to the decrease of unstable discharge in a machining gap by helping to expel waste water and debris from the gap. Secondly, to improve the machined surface roughness, an electrolyzation process was included after drilling. This process made the machined surface smooth by means of an electrochemical reaction between an electrode and a workpiece. In this study, the machining speed, electrode wear, and surface roughness were improved by the newtype electrode and the electrolytic process.
In order to explore the characteristics of electrons in DC negative corona discharge, an improved plasma chemical model is presented for the simulation of bar-plate DC corona discharge in dry air. The model is based on plasma hydrodynamics and chemical models in which 12 species are considered. In addition, the photoionization and secondary electron emission effect are also incorporated within the model as well. Based on this model, electron mean energy distribution (EMED), electron density distribution (EDD), generation and dissipation rates of electron at 6 typical time points during a pulse are discussed emphatically. The obtained results show that, the maximum of electron mean energy (EME) appears in field ionization layer which moves towards the anode as time progresses, and its value decreases gradually. Within a pulse process, the electron density (ED) in cathode sheath almost keeps 0, and the maximum of ED appears in the outer layer of the cathode sheath. Among all reactions, R1 and R2 are regarded as the main process of electron proliferation, and R22 plays a dominant role in the dissipation process of electron. The obtained results will provide valuable insights to the physical mechanism of negative corona discharge in air.
Recently, in order to achieve smooth fracture plane and minimize the excavation damage zone in rock blasting, controlled blasting methods which utilize new technologies such as electronic delay detonator (EDD) and a notched charge hole have been suggested. In this study, smooth blastings utilizing three wing type notched charge holes are simulated to investigate the influence of explosive initial density on the resultant fracture plane and damage zone using dynamic fracture process analysis (DFPA) code. Finally, based on the dynamic fracture process analyses, novel smooth blasting method, ED-Notch SB (Electronic Detonator Notched Charge Hole Smooth Blasting) is suggested.
Curing behavior and interfacial properties were evaluated using electrical resistance measurement and tensile/compressive fragmentation test. Electrical resistivity difference (${\Delta}R$) during curing process was not observed in a bare carbon fiber. On the other hand, ${\Delta}R$ appeared due to the matrix contraction in single-carbon fiber/epoxy composite. Logarithmic electrical resistivity of the untreated single-carbon fiber composite increased suddenly to the infinity when the fiber fracture occurred under tensile loading, whereas that of the ED composite reached relatively broadly up to the infinity. Comparing to the untreated case, interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of the ED treated composite increased significantly in both tensile fragmentation and compressive Broutman test. Microfailure modes of the untreated and the ED treated fiber composite showed the debonding and the cone shapes in tensile test, respectively. For compressive test, fractures of diagonal slippage were observed in both untreated and the ED treated composite. Sharp-end shape fractures exhibited in the untreated composite, whereas relatively dull fractures showed in the ED Heated composite. It is proved that ED treatments affected differently on the interfacial adhesion and microfailure mechanism under tensile/compressive tests.
A process model is formulated considering the effect of crystallographic texture developed in forming process. The deformation induced plastic anisotropy can be predicted by capturing the evolution of texture during large deformation in the polycrystalline aggregate. The anisotropic stiffness matrix for the aggregate is derived and implemented in Eulerian finite element code using a Consistent Penalty method. As an application the evolution of texture in rolling drawing and extrusion processes are simulated. The numerical results show good agreements with report-ed experimental textures.
