  • In this paper, two 4$\times$4 rectangular patch array antennas operating at 20 GHz are implemented for the satellite communication. The sixteen patch antennas and microstrip feeding line are printed on a single-layered substrate. The design goal is to achieve high directivity and gain by optimizing design parameters through permutations in element spacing. The spacing between the array elements is chosen to be 0.736$\lambda$. Numerical simulation results indicate that the HPBW(Half-Power Beam Width) of the 4$\times$4 patch array antenna is 18.78 degrees in the E-plane and 18.48 degrees in the H-plane with a gain of 17.18 dBi. Numerical simulations of a 4$\times$4 recessed patch array antenna yield a HPBW of 18.71 degrees in the E-plane and 17.82 degrees in the H-plane with a gain of 19.43 dBi.

  • An analysis is made of flow and rocket motion during a supersonic separation stage of air-launching rocket(ALR) from the mother plane. Three-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes equations is numerically solved to analyze the steady/unsteady flow field around the rocket which is being separated from the mother plane configuration(F-4E Phantom). The simulation results clearly demonstrate the effect of shock-expansion wave interaction between the rocket and the mother plane. To predict the behavior of the ALR according to the change of the C.G., three cases of numerical analysis are performed. As a result, a design-guideline of supersonic air-launching rocket for the safe separation is proposed.

  • In this paper, the radar antenna of navigation radar on helicopter was suggested to Ka-band lens antenna. It is type of the streamlined convex lens to reduce the air resistivity when helicopter was navigated. Although aperture area is smaller than the standard antenna just like horns, the gain is higher and beamwidth is smaller than standard horns. We made the lens by using maximum flare angle of the horn and dielectric constant of the lens. As a result, when aperture diameter was 280mm and focal length was 145mm, the return loss -21.25dB, the gain was 32.2dBi, E and H beamwidth was $1.8^{\circ}$(E-plane), $1.4^{\circ}$(H-plane), nearly $1.5^{\circ}$, and side-lobe level was -18.4 dB(E-plane), -19.5dB(H-plane) lower were presented. So this suggested type can be used for the radar antenna of navigation radar on helicopter, and it will possible just a little some sidelobe suppression by using the choked horn as a feeder horn.

  • In this paper, the strong in-plane vibration has been experimentally observed at the end of a finite cylindrical shell. The strong in-plane vibration was generated by the evanescent wave field, which was excited along about half the length of the shell. The evanescent waves were generated due to mode conversion of elastic waves at the ends of the cylindrical shells. The results show that the strong in-plane end vibration can be generated in cylindrical shells.

  • Let (H, g) denote the upper half plane in $R^2$ with the Riemannian metric g := ($(dx)^2$ + $(dy)^2$)$/y^2$. First of all we get a necessary and sufficient condition for a diffeomorphism $\phi$ of (H, g) to be a harmonic map. And, we obtain the fact that if a diffeomorphism $\phi$ of (H, g) is a harmonic function, then the following facts are equivalent: (1) $\phi$ is a harmonic map; (2) $\phi$ is an affine transformation; (3) $\phi$ is an isometry (motion).

  • In this paper, we have designed and favricated the high gain and wideband microstrip patch antenna including IEEE 802.11a. To widen the bandwidth of microstrip antenna, firstly we have used the microstrip line-coaxial probe feeding method and inserted a U-slot in the rectangular patch. Secondly, to improve the antenna gain, we have used a $2{\times}2$ array structure. From the measured results, wideband characteristics of 1 GHz bandwidth($5.110{\sim}6.142$ GHz) for VSWR<2 was obtained. The measured eain was 13 dBi in both the E-plane and H-plane at the frequency of 5.15 GHz, 5.35 GHz, 5.50 GHz, and 5.85 GHz.

  • In this paper, due to the development of 5G communication technology, an antenna capable of covering both LTE and 5G bands is currently needed. In addition, we designed and manufactured a single feed antenna for the integrated public network (LTE) and 5G frequency dual band cover to satisfy the frequency bandwidth of more than 10% in each band. The antenna designed by adopting the dipole of the basic dipole antenna in a planar structure is a form in which the radiating element is vertically extended at all of the 700 MHz antennas and folded into a 'ㄷ' shape. In addition, the radiating element of the 700MHz band serves as a reflector of the 3.5GHz band radiating element. As a result, the 700 MHz band -10 dB bandwidth 104 MHz(14.8%) and 3.5 GHz band -10 dB bandwidth 660 MHz(18.8%) were obtained and the radiation pattern characteristic resulted in gains of 8.46 dBi, beam width E-plane 55°, H-plane 81° and 3.5 GHz bands 6.14 dBi, beamwidth E-plane 79°, H-Plane 49°.

  • Fault plane solutions in North Korea and the northern part of the Yellow Sea ($37.5^{\circ}N-40.5^{\circ}N$, $124.5^{\circ}E-128.5^{\circ}E$) was studied for the earthquakes that occurred from November, 2008 to May, 2013. The analysis was based on the data collected from seismic networks in Korea and China. Fault plane solutions were obtained from P and SH wave polarities and SH/P amplitude ratioes. Most earthquakes exhibited predominantly strike-slip fault characteristics with NNE-SSW or WNW-ESE nodal planes. The P-axes trends are mainly NE-SW or ENE-WSW direction in the northern part of the Yellow Sea and inland area of North Korea except some areas in the Hwanghae province. Fault plane solutions and main axis of stress field in the study region were similar to those observed in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula.

  • Effect of a finite grounded substrate on mutual coupling characteristics of a 2-element array antenna using inductor loaded patch antennas is investigated. The mutual coupling characteristics of a 2-element array antenna using inductor loaded patch antennas positioned along the E-plane are compared with those positioned along the H-plane. The magnitude of mutual coupling is very small and the distance between the center of element and the substrate edge on the E-plane for the minimum mutual coupling is similar regardless of the direction at which antenna elements are positioned in the case of a 2-element array antenna using inductor loaded patch antennas.
