OLED display manufacturing by Organic Vapor Phase Deposition

  • We report on Organic Vapor Phase Deposition $(OVPD^{(R)})$ an innovative deposition technology for organic light emitting device (OLED) and organic semiconductor manufacturing. The combination of $OVPD^{(R)}$ with Close Coupled Showerhead (CCS) technology results in manufacturing equipment with vast potential for cost effective manufacturing of OLED displays commercially competitive to LCD. The actual $OVPD^{(R)}$ equipment concept and design is discussed: Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) modeling is compared with experimental results proving the excellent controllability of the deposition process. Further other production relevant deposition properties are being reviewed e.g. high deposition rates and high organic material utilization efficiency of the $OVPD^{(R)}$ - Technology. Data from devices made by $OVPD^{(R)}$ show comparable/ superior performance to those fabricated with conventional vacuum thermal evaporation (VTE) techniques. An outlook on further potentials of $OVPD^{(R)}$ with respect to enabling advanced organic device structures is given.

  • In the manufacturing field, some traditional manufacturing and machining methods become weakened the productivity, the external competitive power, and accuracies of the products. In these point of view, the unmanned and intelligent manufacturing systems are proposed by some manufacturing companies. The real-time monitoring technology of the cutting tool conditions i.e. tool wear, tool breakage, crack, and chipping anre necessarily reauired to realize those system, especially. In this study, we constructed the multi- sensing system using the acceleration sensor, the current sensor, and the loadmeter of a machine tool. Also, we analyzed the nose breakage, the massive signal, and some monitoring features by means of the developed system.

  • A shop floor can be considered as and importand level to develop a Computer Integrated Manufacturing system (CIMs). The shop foor is a dynamic environment where unexpected events contrinuously occur, and impose changes to planned activities. The shop floor should adopt an appropriate control system that is responsible for scheduling coordination and moving the manufacturing material and information flow. In this paper, the architecture of the hybrid control model identifies three levels; i.e., the shop floor controller (SFC), the cell controller(CC) and the equipment controller (EC). The methodology for developing these controller is employ an object-oriented approach for static models and IDEF0 for function models for dispatching a job. SFC and CC are coordinated by employing a multi-factors bidding and an adapted Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) prove applicability of the suggested method. Test experiment has been conducted by with the shopfloor, consisting of six manufacturing cells.

  • Computer aided process planning(CAPP) is a key for implementing CIM. It is bridge between CAD and CAM and translates the design information into manufacturing instructions. Generally, manufacturing is an area where intelligent systems will not be able to rely on methods requiring formalized knowledge. Manufacturing lacks a body of knowledge that is specific, formalized, and rigorous, and which can be coded as rules or procedures. Thus expertise in manufacturing is developed over a period of many years. Case-based reasoning(CBR) offers a new approach for developing intelligent system. In the case-based approach the problem solving experience of the experts is encoded in the form of cases. CBR's retrieval process can be divided to two step. The first step is matching step, and the second step is selection step. For selecting base case, new preference heuristics were introduced using similarity concept. Similarity concept has three has three dimensions, i.e. entity similarity, structural similarity, and goal similarity. In this paper, bolt's process planning was selected an application domain. Following the test result, the new preference heuristics were approved as a useful procedure in CAPP.

  • With the advancement of information technology and the proliferation of e-Business, CRM has been emerging as a powerful concept or strategy for dealing with customer relationship, though not a new concept. Most CRM applications have been focused on business situation where there are direct channels with customers, as in retailing and banking industry, etc. In this paper, we analyze the case of a manufacturing company where the primary concern lies on indirect channels management, such as selling agencies and distributors. Some issues related to the characteristics of the manufacturing company and the interface with ERP and SCM need to be investigated. Based on the consultation project with L company, we propose a successful CRM implementation strategy and point out some issues in implementing the CRM for a manufacturing company.

  • The PL (Product Liability) Law has been going into effect in Korea since July 2002. Accordingly, a company's responsibility for customers who are damaged by the defect in the product safety has been gradually strict and imposed burden on management. This paper presents suggestions as to PL prevention of diary manufacturing companies through the case research of PL prevention strategies and the prevention systems of the domestic diary manufacturing company.

  • 최근 제조업과 공작기계 기술에 있어 세계를 지배하는 추세는 CIM (computer integrated manufacturing)의 도입이다. 그 이유는 CIM을 도입하여 발전시키고 개발시키는 국가에 대해서 장기적인 경제적, 사회적 이익을 주기 때문인 것이다. 이러한 추세는 제조업과 공작기계 분야에 컴퓨터와 관련된 기술의 개발과 응용에 있어 다음의 5가지 영역으로 구분된다. 즉, 일체화된 제조 소프트웨어 시스템 (integrated manufacturing software system), 그룹 기술 (group technology), 구획식제온 (cellular manufacturing), 공작기계의 컴퓨터제어 및 시험, 그리고 컴퓨터 제어식 산업 로봇(robot) 및 가변 제조(flexible manufacturing)이다. 미국에서 이러한 각 분야에 행해지고 있는 예로 응용되고 있으며, CIM이 가져다 주는 경제적, 사회적 이익을 추구 하는 국가들에 의해 많이 연구되고 있다. 이러한 노력은 이십세기말 이전에 이들 국가의 제조 업에 대단한 변화를 가져올 것이다.

Design of the Optimal Grinding Process Conditions Using Artificial Intelligent Algorithm (인공지능 알고리즘을 이용한 최적 연삭 공정 설계)

  • The final quality of the workpiece is affected by the grinding process that has been conducted in final manufacturing stage. However the quality-satisfaction of ground workpiece depends on the skill of an expert in this process. Therefore, the process models of grinding have been developed to predict the states according to grinding process. In this paper, in order to find the optimized grinding condition to reduce the manufacturing expense and to meet requirements of ground workpiece optimization algorithm using E.S.(Evolutionary Strategy) is proposed. The proposed algorithm has been employed to find the optimal grinding and dressing condition using the grinding process models and nonlinear grinding constraints. The optimized results also presents the guide line of grinding process. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through the experimental results.

  • Recycling of used products and components has been considered as one of promising strategies for resolving environmental problems. In this respect, most manufacturing companies begin to consider possible recycling (e.q., reuse or re-production) of the components contained in their products. The primary objective of this research is to develop a multiple criteria decision making model for systematic management of recycle-oriented manufacturing components. The production planning problem of recycle-oriented manufacturing components is first formulated as a multiobjective mixed 0-1 integer programming model with three conflicting objectives. An interactive multiple criteria decision making method is then developed for solving the mathematical model. Also, an Input/Output analysis software is developed to help practitioners apply the model to real problems without much knowledge on computers and mathematical programming. A numerical example is used in examining the validity of the proposed model and to investigate the impact of the input variables on recycling production strategy.

  • In this paper, the web-based monitoring system is developed for the process monitoring of mold manufacturing. The cutting force is measured by hall-sensors which is low cost and useful to be installed in machine tool indirectly. Specially, the current of main spindle in machine tool is converted into cutting force by various experiments. For effective emote monitoring, the interface that is able to offer the information of current process and cutting signal to client is establish.
