  • A coupling system of MM5 and POM using Stampi with different kinds of parallel computer is proposed and comparative numerical simulations of mesoscale wind induced by topography around East Sea/Sea of Japan are carried out. The results are as follows: 1) Strong horizontal conversion is induced by high mountain Pekdoo at its leeside. 2) The conversion winds at lee of high mountain are not clear in monthly and yearly mean NCEP-reanalysis because of coarse resolution of 1.86 degree by 1.86 degree. But Wind conversion is well simulated at atmosphere and ocean coupling system. And the conversion area of lee side of mountain is also agreed well with observed data of NSCAT launched in satellite ADEOS. 3) The surface ocean current is well correspondent with wind direction, induced by high mountains. And small different wind field information lead the different of particle distribution in numerical experiments of particle distribution on ocean surface.

  • A new way to reduce the eigenvalue computation effort in structural dynamics is presented in this paper. The degrees of freedom of a structure may be classified into groups that are termed as sub-degrees of freedom. The eigenvalue analysis is performed with each of sub-degrees of freedom so that the computing time is much shortened. Since the dynamic coupling between sub-degrees of freedom is selected to be small and it may be considered as a perturbation, the perturbation algorithm is used to obtain an accuratae result. The accuracy of perturbation depends on the coupling between sub-degrees of freedom. The weaker the coupling is, the more accurate the result is. The procedure can be used to simplify a problem of three dimensions to that of two dimensions or from two dimensions to one dimension. The application to a truss and a space frame is shown in the paper.

  • Recently, service-oriented systems have been issued by their properties of reducing software development time and effort by reusing functional service units. The reusability of services can effectively promote through loose coupling between services and loose coupling between services depends on component-based system. That is, the component-based system is designed by grouping the tightly coupled classes of the object-oriented system and the service-oriented system is designed by the component-based system. Therefore, to design the component-based system and service-oriented system efficiently, a metric to measure the coupling between classes accurately needs. In this paper, we propose a coupling metric between classes applying a structural property, a dynamic property, and the normalized value by 0-1. We prove the theoretical soundness of the proposed metric by the axioms of briand et al, and suggest the accuracy and practicality through a case study. We suggest the evaluation results of the proposed metric through a comparison with the conventional metrics.

  • A study was made on the chemical treatment of silica and silane coupling agents, bistriethox ysilylpropyltetrasulfide(Si 69) and ${\gamma}$-mercaptopropyltrimethoxy silane (MPS) for reinforcement of silica formulation. The effects of chemical treatment method and the most popular two coupling agents were examined. The results clearly indicate that the wet method, coupling agent is combined chemically with the silica prior to mixing, has more dispersion, wetting ability, dynamic properties and stability than the dry method, coupling agent is premixed directly with the silica. The mixing was done using a bench-type kneader having two mixing cam and a two-roll mill, under approximately similar conditions. The physical properties of SBR vulcanizates give rise to marked improvements by addition of Si 69 and MPS in comparison with without silane coupling agents. The optimum amount of Si 69 and MPS was 2 w/w% by experiments in the dry method but was 4 w/w% by EA and TGA analysis in the wet method.

  • The feed system using ball screw is constructed by ball screw, support bering and LM guide, and servo system for driving ball screw. AC servo motr drives ball screw which was connected by coupling. In this study, a new axial direction dynamic modeling of ball screw driving system was developed, and forced vibraition test using the impact hammer was experimented. The simulation result is compared with experimental result, which defines the reliability of mathematical modeling.

  • This paper presents short-term hydro scheduling method for hydrothermal coordination by genetic algorithms. Hydro scheduling problem has many constraints with fixed final reservoir volume. In this paper, the difficult water balance constraints caused by hydraulic coupling satisfied throughout dynamic decoding method. Adaptive penalizing method was also proposed to handle the infeasible solutions that violate various constraints. In this paper, we proposed GA to solve hydrothermal scheduling with appropriate decoding method and dynamic penalty method. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated in the case study.

  • In this study a numerical method for soil-pile interaction analysis buried in multi-layered half planes is presented in frequency domain using FE-BE coupling. The total soil-pile interaction system is divided into two parts so called far field and near field beam elements are used for modeling a pile and coupled with plain strain elements for soil modeling. Boundary element formulation using the multi-layered dynamic fundamental solution is adopted to the far field and coupled with near field modeled by finite elements. In order to verify the proposed soil-pile interaction analysis method the dynamic responses of a pile on multi-layered dynamic fundamental solution is adopted to the far field and coupled with near field modeled by finite elements. In order to verify the proposed soil-pile interaction analysis method the dynamic responses of a pile on multi-layered half-planes are performed and compared with experiment results. Through this developed method the dynamic response analysis of a pile buried in multi-layered half planes can be calculated effectively in frequency domain.

  • Coupling adjacent steel frame using elastic dampers for control of response to low and moderate dynamic event is investigated in this paper. The complex modal superposition method is first used to determine dynamic characteristic, mainly modal damping ratio and modal frequency, of damper linked linear adjacent steel frame for fractical use. Dynamic response of steel frame linked by hydraulic-excitation method. This combined method can efectively and accurately determine dynamic response of non-clasically damped systems in the frequency domain. Parametric studties are finally performed to identify optimal parameters of elastic dampers for achieving the maximum modal damping ratio or the maximum response reduction of steel frame. It is demonstrated that using discrete elasatic dampers of proper parameters to link steel frame can reduce dynamic response significantly.

  • A conventional robotic manipulator is usually a very complicated system whose dynamics is too computationally time consuming for dynamic analysis and real time control. The authors have proposed the general design criteria of the robot links which greatly simplify the robot dynamic characteristics. In this paper these design guidelines are applied to a 6 degree of freedom PUMA 560 robot in order to realize actual implementation of the design concept. Based upon the design concept, the dynamic equations of the redesigned robot were derived. Dynamic characteristics of two systems, the ideally designed and conventional robot, are compared with respect to the joint input torque characteristics and degree of the coupling between the robot joints.
