The purpose of this article is to develop a dynamic model of organizational capabilities and knowledge creation, and at the same time identify the organizational capability factors for effective knowledge creation, by empirically analyzing the history of new Quinolone antibacterial drug compound (LB20304a) discovery process at LG, as a case in point. Major findings of this study are as follows. First, in a science-based area such as drug development, the core of successful knowledge creation lies in creative combination of different bodies of scientific explicit knowledge. Second, the greater the difficulty of learning external knowledge, the more tacit knowledge is needed for the recipient firm to effectively exploit that knowledge. Third, in science-based sector such as pharmaceutical industry, the key for successful knowledge creation lies in the capability of recruiting and retaining star scientists. Finally, for effective knowledge creation, a firm must keep its balance among three dimensions of organizational capabilities: local, process, architectural capabilities.

In this paper, an integrated system for dynamic analysis and optimal design of engine mount systems is presented. The system can simulate static and dynamic behaviors of engine mount systems and optimize design parameters such as mount stiffness, mounting locations with desired design targets of frequency or displacement. A FF-engine with an automatic transmission is used to demonstrate the analysis and optimal design capabilities of the proposed design system.

이 연구는 한국의 신용카드기얼 종사자들에게 Q 방법을 접목시켜, 해당 기업의 역량과 차별성을 검증하려는 목적 하에 이루어졌다. 사회과학 내에서 제도의 진화에 초점을 두는 이론 진영은, 기업 구성원들의 가장 일상적인 활동 속에 기업의 경쟁력이 배태돼(embedded) 있음을 강조한다. 즉 암묵적이면서도 비공식화된 방식으로 이루어지는 매일의 학습, 의사소통, 의사결정이 조직의 동태적 역량(dynamic capabilities)을 결정짓는다. 기업 구성원들의 내적, 잠재적 활동을 객관적으로 측정하고자 이 연구는, 계량화가 어려운 인간의 질적.주관적 속성들을 수치화시키는데 장점을 지닌 Q 방법을 활용한다. 분석결과에 의하면, 다수의 응답자들이 기업역량과 경쟁력의 질적 수준이 향상되어야 함을 강조한다. 하지만 응답자들 중 은행계의 경우 주로 성장 지향적 정책과 기업발전을 중시하며, 기업계는 정책으로부터의 독립성을 강조하나 기업조직 우선적 사고에 갇혀 있다. 2000년 이후 고착화된 한국 신용카드산업의 주기적인 부침은, 신용카드기업의 역량(경쟁력), 산업환경, 정책의 개선에 대한 기업현장의 기대나 요구가 충분히 반영되지 않은 것과 결코 무관하지 않다.

This paper addresses the problem of the modeling and vibration control of tapered rotating blade modeled as thin-walled beams and incorporating damping capabilities. The blade model incorporates non-classical features such as anisotropy, transverse shear, secondary warping and includes the centrifugal and Coriolis force fields. For the rotating blade system, a thorough validation and assessment. of a number of non-classical features including the taper characteristics is accomplished. The damping capabilities are provided by a system of piezoactuators bonded or embedded into the structure and spread over the entire span of the beam. Based on the converse piezoelectric effect, the piezoactuators produce a localized strain field in response to a voltage and consequently, a change of the dynamic response characteristics is induced. A velocity feedback control law relating the piezoelectrically induced transversal bending moment at the beam tip with the appropriately selected kinematical response quantity is used and thebeneficial effects upon the closed-loop dynamic characteristics of the blade are highlighted.

The purpose of this study is to identify types of dynamic manufacturing strategies and their effects on business performance. Three characteristics of Korean manufacturing should be noted. First, it is found that there are six types of dynamic manufacturing strategies in Korea. Second, the roles of the infrastructural and structural action programs become different according to different types of dynamic manufacturing strategies. Third, the strategy of continuously fostering both cost leadership and differentiation capabilities has turned out to be very effective in Korea.

In this paper, a real-time control system for robot manipulator is implemented using real-time operating system with capabilities of multitasking, intertask communication and synchronization, event-driven, priority-driven scheduling, real-time clock control, etc. The hardware system with VME bus and related devices is developed and applied to implement a dynamic learning control scheme for robot manipulator. Real-time performance of the proposed dynamic learning controller is tested for tasks of tracking moving objects and compared with the conventional servo controller.

A mathematical model using dynamic programming approach is applied to an optimal unit commitment problem. In this study, the units are treated as stages instead of as state dimension, and the time dimension corresponds to the state dimension instead of stages. A considerable amount of computer time is saved as compared to the normal approach if there are many units in the basin. A case study on the Lower Colorado River Basin System is presented to demonstrate the capabilities of the optimal scheduling of hydropower units.

In this paper, we propose a new metric called "dynamic gamma" to quantitatively evaluate the dynamic temporal response of an LC display device. The widely-used response time and corresponding 3-D bar graphs cannot fully describe the dynamic characteristics of an LC panel [1], and using response time to compare different LC panels and assessing the dynamic features of LC panels is difficult. On the other hand, the new metric MPRT mixes an LC panel's slow temporal response with its hold-type display effect. The proposed new metric, dynamic gamma, and corresponding 2-D plots, are arguably more suitable for quantitatively characterizing the dynamic characteristics of an LC panel, so comparing two LC panels becomes easy. Furthermore, dynamic gamma has the unique property that it can be used to quantify the limitations/capabilities and to assess the effectiveness of an overdrive mechanism for a particular LCD. In the paper, two LC panels using different technology are analyzed and compared using this new metric.

전사적자원관리(enterprise resource planning: ERP)의 효과적 구축을 위해서는 다양한 요소들의 상호작용이 필수적임에도 불구하고 이들 요소들간의 상호작용에 대한 연구는 그간 개별적으로 이루어져 왔다. 이러한 한계점을 극복하기 위해 본 연구에서는 이러한 요소들이 어떻게 상호작용하고 이러한 상호작용이 효과적인 전사적자원관리의 구축에 영향을 미치는가를 전체적인 관점(holistic perspective)에서 파악하기 위한 연구모형을 제안하고자 한다. 특히, 본 연구는 가치 창출을 위한 자원준거이론(resource based theory), 전략형성 프레임웍(strategy formulation framework), 동적자원관리(dynamic resource management) 모형을 기반을 어떻게 자원의 번들링(bundling) 프로세스와 역량의 레버리지(leverage) 프로세스가 전사적자원관리의 효과적 구축에 영향을 미치는가에 초점을 두고자 한다. 제안된 연구모형은 호주의 항공산업에 속한 기업을 대상으로 사례연구를 수행하여 검증하였다. 사례연구 결과 효과적 역량 구축을 위한 자원의 번들링 프로세스와 효과적 전사적자원관리의 구축을 위한 역량의 레버리지 프로세스의 중요성을 파악할 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과는 자원간 그리고 역량간 상호작용의 중요성을 명시함으로써 효과적 전사적 자원관리를 위한 가이드라인을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

After defeat in World War II, Japan's Peace Constitution committed the country to forego the acquisition of offensive military capabilities. However, in the midst of the post-cold war period, Japan began to change its security posture in line with the so-called 'normal state theory', which called for a more robust defense posture and expanded security activities. The second Abe administration promoted these security policies by issuing a National Security Strategy as well as a new National Defense Program Outline(NDPO) in 2013 and by establishing new security institutions such as the National Security Council. The Abe administration also adopted the new concept of a 'Unified Mobile Defense Force' in the 2013 which replaced the 'Dynamic Defense Force' as a new criteria for the Self-Defense Force's acquisition of military capabilities. In this new concept of military capabilities, the Ground Self-Defense Force is planning to replace existing divisions with mobile divisions and to form 'Amphibious Rapid Deployment Bridge' for the first time in 2018, which has long been taboo in Japan. Japan has experience a Marine Corps in the past. Likewise, an offensive changes in the military strategy can change the spectrum of strategy and 'Amphibious Rapid Deployment Bridge' plays a big role in this. Furthermore, Japan is increasing the Coast Guard's budget and capabilities in preparation for contingencies around the Senkaku islands (called the Diaoyu in Chinese). The South Korea navy should utilize Japan's changing security posture to deter immediate threat such as North Korea's military provocations and potential enemy threat such as China, Japan, Russia.
