Basically corrugated board is composed of three layers of different basis weight and stock composition. Warp is well-known for one of the most important problems of corrugated board production. Warp is caused by difference of hygro-expansibility of linears between top and bottom. This research was performed to evaluate the effect of paper properties on the warp of corrugated board. To evaluate warp, dynamic expansion properties of paper was tested using DPM(dynamic penetration measuring system). The effects of sizing, stock composition and wet-pressing on dynamic expansion properties were also evaluated. Commercial base papers showed different dynamic expansion property depending on stock composition and papermaking operation. Sizing treatment decreased and wet-pressing increased the amount of dynamic expansion. To reduce warp of corrugated board, management of dynamic expansion of base papers should be controlled by manipulating moisture, heat and tension, using a variety of adjustments available on the corrugator.

In this study, multibody dynamic and mechanical analyses were conducted for the structure of roller chain bucket elevator system. The fatigue life of the roller chain elevator system was determined under static and fatigue loadings. Results of multibody dynamic analysis suggested that the maximum contact force occurred at the drive sprocket engagement point with the roller chain due to maximum tension. Fatigue analysis results suggest that the high load roller chain system is durable and safe because its life time is more than 700,000 cycles, close to its designed value (1,000,000 cycle). However, the contact portion of plate and pin needed a safety factor. The dynamic analysis of the heavy load roller chain was conducted with a multibody dynamic analysis program. The results obtained in this study can be utilized for dynamic analysis of roller chain systems in all industries.
The PGLE and PGLE3 nonionic surfactants were synthesized from the reaction between glycidol and lauryl acid and their structures were confirmed by $^1H$ and $^{13}C$ NMR analysis. The CMCs of PGLE and PGLE3 surfactants were found to be $3.59{\times}10^{-2}$ mol/L and $8.80{\times}10^{-2}$ mol/L respectively and the surface tensions at their CMC conditions were 26.09 mN/m and 28.68 mN/m respectively. Dynamic surface tension measurement has shown that the adsorption rate of surfactant molecules at the interface between air and surfactant solution was found to be relatively fast in both surfactant systems, presumably due to high mobility of surfactant molecules. The contact angles of PGLE and PGLE3 nonionic surfactants were $25.5^{\circ}$ and $9.5^{\circ}$ respectively. Dynamic interfacial tension measurement showed that both surfactant systems reached equilibrium in 20 minutes and the interfacial tensions at equilibrium condition in both systems were 0.42 mN/m and 0.53 mN/m respectively. The PGLE surfactant system has indicated higher foam stability than the PGLE3 surfactant system, which is consistent with surface tension measurement. The phase behavior experiments performed at $25{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ in systems containing nonionic surfactant, water, n-hydrocarbon oil and cosurfactant showed a lower phase or oil in water microemulsion in equilibrium with excess oil phase at all conditions investigated during this study.

An efficient method for the calculation of wave forces on a tension leg platform(TLP) is presented in this paper. It is based on the Morison's equation with two corrective terms. One is the reduction of the inertia forces on the vertical columns in order to include the wave diffraction effect particularly for small wave conditions. The other is the inclusion of the hydrodynamic forces acting at the bottoms of the columns. Numerical studies are carried out for a TLP in 1000 ft water with two different wave heading angles($0^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$). The reponse amplitude operators(RAO's) for the TLP motions and top tether tension variations are obtained by the present method and the theoretically more accurate method based on the diffraction theory. A comparison has been made between the results obtained by two methods.

The interest in the dynamic properties of soils has increased strongly because of earthquake, heavy traffic, and foundations undergo high amplitude of vibrations. Most of soils in Korean peninsula are composed of granite soils, especially the decomposed mudstone soils are widely spread in Pohang areas, Kyong-buk province. Therefore, it Is very important to investigate the dynamic properties of these types of soils. The most important soil parameters under dynamic loadings are shear modulus and material dampings. Furthermore, few definitive data exist that can evaluate the behavior of unsaturated decomposed mudstone soils under dynamic loading conditions. The investigations described in this paper is designed to identify the shear modulus and damping ratio due to a surface tension for the unsaturated decomposed mudstone soils ulder low and high strain amplitude, For this purpose, the resonant column test and the cyclic triaxial test were performed. Test results and data have shown that the optimum degree of saturation under low and strain amplitude is 32 ∼ 37% which is higher than that of decomposed granite due to the amount of fine particles as well as the type and proportion of chief rock-forming minerals.

Viscoelastic components for vibration isolation or shock absorption in automobiles, machines and buildings are often subject to a high level of static deformation. From the dynamic design point of view, it is requisite to predict dynamic complex stiffness of viscoelastic components accurately and efficiently. To this end, a systematic procedure for complex modulus measurement of the viscoelastic material under large static deformation is often required in the industrial fields. In this paper, dynamic test conditions and procedures for the viscoelastic material under small oscillatory load superimposed on large static deformation are discussed. Various standard test methods are investigated in order to select an adequate test methodology. The influence of fixed boundary condition in the compression tests upon complex stiffness are investigated and an effective correction technique is proposed. Then the uniaxial tension and compression tests are performed and its results are compared with analysis results from conventional constitutive models.

The modified couple stress-based third-order shear deformation theory is presented for sigmoid functionally graded materials (S-FGM) plates. The advantage of the modified couple stress theory is the involvement of only one material length scale parameter which causes to create symmetric couple stress tensor and to use it more easily. Analytical solution for dynamic instability analysis of S-FGM plates on elastic medium is investigated. The present models contain two-constituent material variation through the plate thickness. The equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's energy principle. The governing equations are then written in the form of Mathieu-Hill equations and then Bolotin's method is employed to determine the instability regions. The boundaries of the instability regions are represented in the dynamic load and excitation frequency plane. It is assumed that the elastic medium is modeled as Pasternak elastic medium. The effects of static and dynamic load, power law index, material length scale parameter, side-to-thickness ratio, and elastic medium parameter have been discussed. The width of the instability region for an S-FGM plate decreases with the decrease of material length scale parameter. The study is relevant to the dynamic simulation of micro structures embedded in elastic medium subjected to intense compression and tension.

Since the power transmission line(PTL) passes through the high mountain and heavy snowfall region, it is necessary to keep the stability of the PTL. In this study, PTL is modeled as a mass-spring-damper system by using RecurDyn. The lumped mass model is verified by calculated from the simulation comparing the deflection analysis according to the sag and tension. In order to analyze the dynamic behavior of PTL, a damping coefficient for a multi-body model is derived by using the free vibration test and Rayleigh damping theory. Sleet jump simulation according to the region is performed. The maximum jump height, icing sag and amount of jump are confirmed. Also, the amount of jump and the reaction force at the supporting point according to the tension and load of ice are analyzed, respectively. As a result, it is noted that the amount of jump and reaction force are influenced more by the load of ice than by the tension of PTL.

Dynamic analysis of laminated beams with a embedded damping layer under tension or compression axial load is investigated. Improved Layer-Wise Zig-Zag Beam Theory and Interdependent Kinematic Relation using the governing equations of motion are incorporated to model the laminated beams with a damping layer and a corresponding beam zig-zag finite element is developed. Flexural frequencies and modal loss factors under tension or compression axial load are calculated based on Complex Eigenvalue Method. The effects of the axial tension and compression load on the frequencies and loss factors are discussed.
A numerical procedure is described for simultaneously predicting the motion and structural responses of tension leg platforms (TLPs) in multi-directional irregular waves. The developed numerical approach is based on a combination of a three dimensional source distribution method, the finite element method for structurally treating the space frame elements and a spectral analysis technique of directional waves. The spectral description for the linear responses of a structure in the frequency domain is sufficient to completely define the responses. This is because both the wave inputs and the responses are stationary Gaussian ran dom process of which the statistical properties in the amplitude domain are well known. The hydrodynamic interactions among TLP members, such as columns and pontoons, are included in the motion and structural analysis. The effect of wave directionality has been pointed out on the first order motion, tether forces and structural responses of a TLP in multi-directional irregular waves.
