In this paper, dynamic response of annular nanoplates in improving sports equipment with surface effect embedded by visco Pasternak fractional foundation is studied. Size effects are evaluated by modified couple stress theory (MCST) and the surface effects are considered by the Gurtin-Murdoch theory. The structural damping effect is considered in this research using Kelvin-Voigt model. Sinusoidal shear deformation theory (SSDT) is applied for mathematical modelling of the nanostructure system. The numerical procedure of differential quadrature (DQ) is presented to determine the dynamic deflection as well as dynamic response of the annular nanoplates. The numerical results dynamic deflection of the nanostructure is considering, including material length scale parameter, spring and damper constants of visco-pasternak fractional foundation, geometrical parameters of annular nanoplates, surface stress effects.
A new first-order shear deformation theory is developed for dynamic behavior of functionally graded beams. The equations governing the axial and transverse deformations of functionally graded plates are derived based on the present first-order shear deformation plate theory and the physical neutral surface concept. There is no stretching-bending coupling effect in the neutral surface based formulation, and consequently, the governing equations and boundary conditions of functionally graded beams based on neutral surface have the simple forms as those of isotropic plates. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with the existing solutions.

In this paper, a new first shear deformation plate theory based on neutral surface position is developed for the static and the free vibration analysis of functionally graded plates (FGPs). Moreover, the number of unknowns of this theory is the least one comparing with the traditional first-order and the other higher order shear deformation theories. The neutral surface position for a functionally graded plate which its material properties vary in the thickness direction is determined. The mechanical properties of the plate are assumed to vary continuously in the thickness direction by a simple power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Based on the present shear deformation plate theory and the neutral surface concept, the governing equations are derived from the principle of Hamilton. There is no stretching-bending coupling effect in the neutral surface based formulation. Numerical illustrations concern flexural and dynamic behavior of FG plates with Metal-Ceramic composition. Parametric studies are performed for varying ceramic volume fraction, length to thickness ratios. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with the existing solutions.
Thermocapillary convection in an open cylindrical annulus heated from the inside wall is investigated by two-dimensional numerical simulations. The deformable free surface is obtained as a solution of the coupled transport equations at fixed Prandtl and aspect ratio. Only steady convection can be realized in this axisymmetric computations with either non-deformable or deformable surfaces. Dynamic free-surface deformations do not induce transitions to oscillatory convection even at large Reynolds numbers. Free surfaces are convex near the cold wall due to the stagnation point, and concave near the hot wall. Free surface deformation increases with increasing Ca at a fixed Re. Two peaks appear at the free surface with low Re, while additional ripples, four peaks, occur at larger Re. Thermocapillary convection in the open annulus interior is insensitive to variations in Ca.

Newmark-type deformation analysis has rarely been done in Korea due to the popularity of simple pseudo-static limit equilibrium analysis and detailed time-history FE/FD dynamic analysis. However, the Korean seismic dam design code updated in 2011 prescribes Newmark-type deformation analysis as a major dynamic analysis method for the seismic evaluation of fill dams. In addition, a design PGA for dynamic analysis is significantly increased in the code. This paper aims to study the seismic evaluation of four existing large fill dams through advanced FEM/Newmark-type deformation analyses for the artificial earthquake time histories with the design PGA of 0.22g. Dynamic soil properties obtained from in-situ geo-physical surveys are applied as input parameters. For the FEM/Newmark analyses, sensitivity analyses are performed to study the effects of input PGA and $G_{max}$ of shell zone on the Newmark deformation. As a result, in terms of deformation, four fill dams are proved to be reasonably safe under the PGA of 0.22g with yield coefficients of 0.136 to 0.187, which are highly resistant for extreme events. Sensitivity analysis as a function of PGA shows that $PGA_{30cm}$ (a limiting PGA to cause the 30 cm of Newmark permanent displacement on the critical slip surface) is a good indicator for seismic safety check. CFRD shows a higher seismic resistance than ECRD. Another sensitivity analysis shows that $G_{max}$ per depth does not significantly affect the site response characteristics, however lower $G_{max}$ profile causes larger Newmark deformation. Through this study, it is proved that the amplification of ground motion within the sliding mass and the location of critical slip surface are the dominant factors governing permanent displacements.
An attempt was made to compute the free surface deformation due to the impact of a water droplet. The Cauchy Poisson, i.e. the initial value problem, was solved with the kinematic and dynamic free surface boundary conditions linearized. The zero order Hankel transformation and Laplace transform were applied to the related equations. The initial condition for the free surface profile was derived from a captured video image. The effect of the surface tension was not significant with the water mass used in this investigation. The computed and observed free surface deformations were compared.

Superloading yield surface concept is newly introduced together with subloading yield surface conception in order to describe full gradation continuously of the mechanical behavior of soils from typical sand through intermediate soil to typical clay (All Soils). Finite deformation theory has been applied to the soil skeleton-pore water coupled continuum mechanics, which enables us to discuss things in a perpetual stream from stable state to unstable state like from deformation to failure and vice versa like from liquefaction to post liquefaction consolidation of sand (All States). Incremental form of the equation of motion has been employed in the continuum mechanics in order to incorporate a rate type constitutive equation, which is "All Round" enough to predict ground behavior under both static and dynamic conditions. The present paper is the shortened version of the lecture note delivered in 2008 Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Conference, Science Council Japan, but with newly developed application examples.
This paper addresses a viscoplastic constitutive model that allows a consistent way of modeling positive and negative rate sensitivities of flow stress concerned with dynamic strain aging. Based on the concept of continuum mechanics, a phenomenological constitutive model includes the use of a yield surface within the framework of unified viscoplasticity theory. To model negative rate sensitivity, rate-dependent back stress is introduced and flow stress in fully developed inelastic deformation regime is thus decomposed into the plastic contribution of rate independency and the viscous one of rate dependency.

Torsion testing was employed to investigate the deformation and recrystallization behavior of coarse-grained Alloy 718, and the results are compared with the compression testing results. Mechanical testing was conducted on bulk Alloy718 samples within the temperature ranges, $1000^{\circ}C{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$. The strain gradient formed in the torsion specimens resulted in a recrystallization behavior which varied along the radial direction from the center to the surface. The flow curves based on effective stress and effective strain as obtained by Fields and Backofen's isotropic deformation theory and the dynamic recrystallization within the compression tested samples and torsion tested samples are different. The different deformation and recrystallization behavior can be rationalized by the fact that the deformation in the coarse-grained torsion specimens is not uniform and thus the strain gradient within the specimens cannot be analytically predicted by FE simulation. Thus, the extent of recrystallization cannot be properly predicted by the established recrystallization equations based on compression tests.
Effects of ferrite grain size on static and dynamic deformation behaviors of SCM415 stels were investigated in this study. Dynamic torsional test was conducted using torsional Kolsky bar with the strain rate of $1.6{\times}10^3/s$. Specimens with three different grain size of ferrite, $4.6{\mu}m$, $11{\mu}m$, $35.5{\mu}m$ were used. Dimple fracture mode of the dynamic test specimens showed adiabatic shear bands on the beneath of fracture surface. Increased uniform elongation and decreased non-uniform elongation appeared as grain size of ferrite decreased in dynamic torsional test. However, shear strength was independent on grain size of ferrite.
