Reinforced concrete (RC) does not provide sufficient resistance against impacts and blast loads, and the brittle structure of RC fails to protect against fractures due to the lack of shock absorption. Investigations on improving its resistance against explosion and impact have been actively conducted on high-performance fiber-reinforced cementitious composites (HPFRCCs), such as fiber-reinforced concrete and ultra-high-performance concrete. For these HPFRCCs, however, tensile strength and toughness are still significantly lower compared to compressive strength due to their limited fiber volume fraction. Therefore, in this study, the tensile behavior of slurry-infiltrated fiber-reinforced cementitious composites (SIFRCCs), which can accommodate a large number of steel fibers, was analyzed under static and dynamic loading to improve the shortcomings of RC and to enhance its explosion and impact resistance. The fiber volume fractions of SIFRCCs were set to 4%, 5%, and 6%, and three strain rate levels (maximum strain rate: 250 s-1) were applied. As a result, the tensile strength exceeded 15 MPa under static load, and the dynamic tensile strength reached a maximum of 40 MPa. In addition, tensile characteristics, such as tensile strength, deformation capacity, and energy absorption capacity, were improved as the fiber volume fraction and strain rate increased.
Dynamic behavior of diffusive-thermal instability in diluted $CH_4/O_2$ diffusion flames is numerically investigated by adopting detailed chemistry and transport. Counterflow diffusion flame is adopted as a model flamelet. Particular attention is focused on the pulsating-instability regime, which arises for Lewis numbers greater than unity, and the instability occurs at high strain rate near extinction condition in this flame configuration. Once a steady flame structure is obtained for a prescribed value of initial strain rate. transient solution of the flame is calculated after a finite amount of strain-rate perturbation is imposed Oil the steady flame. Transient evolution of the flame depends on the initial strain rate and the amount of perturbed strain rate. Basically, the dynamic behaviors can be classified into two types, namely non-oscillatory decaying solution and diverging solution leading to extinction. The peculiar oscillatory solution. which has been found in the previous study adopting one-step chemistry and constant Lewis numbers, is not observed in this study, which is attributed to both convective flow and preferential diffusion effects.
This study performed a precise dynamic finite element time history elastic-plastic seismic analysis considering the welds, which have been not considered in design stage, on the nuclear components subjected to severe seismic loadings such as beyond-design basis earthquakes for sustainable nuclear power plants. First, the dynamic finite element elastic-plastic seismic analysis was performed for a general design practice that does not take into account the welds of the pressurizer surge line system, one of safety class I components in nuclear power plants, and then the reference values for the accumulated equivalent plastic strain, equivalent plastic strain, and von Mises effective stress were set. Second, the dynamic finite element elastic-plastic seismic analyses were performed for the case of considering only the mechanical strength over-mismatch of the welds as well as for the case of considering both the strength over-mismatch and welding residual strain. Third, the effects of the strength over-mismatch and welding residual strain were analyzed by comparing the finite element analysis results with the reference values. As a result of the comparison, it was found that not considering the strength over-mismatch may lead to conservative assessment results, whereas not considering the welding residual strain may be non-conservative.

The present study aims to investigate the dynamic properties of a novel isolation system composed of separate rubber and wire isolators. The testing program comprised pure compressive, pure-shear, compressive-stress dependence, and shear-strain dependence tests that used full-scale test specimens according to ISO 22762-1. A total of 22 test specimens were fabricated and investigated. Among the tests, the pure compressive test was a destructive test that reached up to the failure stage, whereas the others were nondestructive tests before the failure stage. Similar to the pure-shear test, at each compressive-stress level in the compressive dependence test or at each shear-strain level in the shear-strain dependence test, the cyclic loading was conducted for three cycles. In the nondestructive tests, examination of the dynamic shear properties in the X-direction was independent of the Y-direction. The test results revealed that the increase in the shear strain increased the energy dissipation but decreased the damping ratio, whereas the increase in the compressive stress increased the damping ratio. In addition, a macro model was developed to simulate the load-displacement response of the isolation systems, and the prediction results were consistent with the experimental results.
Most of mechanical structures are composed of many substructures connected to one another by various types of mechanical joints. In automotive engineering, it is important to study these connected structures under various dynamic forces for the evaluations of fatigue life and stress concentration exactly. In this study, the dynamic response of vehicle structure to external forces is classified an inverse problem involving strains from the experiment and the analysis. The practical dynamic forces are determined by the combination of the analytical and experimental method with analyzed strain by quasi-static finite element analysis under unit force and with measured strain by a strain gage under driving load, respectively. In a stressed body, inter-molecular chemical bonds are failed beyond the certain magnitude. The failure of molecular structure in material is considered as a time process of which rate is determined by mechanical stress. That is, the failure of inter-molecular chemical bonds is the fatigue lift of material. This kinetic concept is expressed as lethargy coefficient. And S-N curve is obtained with the lethargy coefficient from quasi-static tensile test. Equivalent practical dynamic force is obtained from the identification of practical dynamic force for one loading point. Using the practical dynamic force and S-N curve, fatigue life of a window pillar is analyzed with FEM under the identified force by the procedure of above mentioned.
In this paper, to identify the dynamic characteristics of antenna system, the antenna is divided into 4 components and those were analyzed with a conventional FEM package MSC/NASTRAN. Using a Component Mode Synthesis Method, dynamic characteristics of total system is also identified. The Coherence of each component to total system is evaluated by using strain and kinetic component to total system is evaluated by using strain and kinetic energy. The improving strategy of dynamic characteristics is suggested by changing mass and stiffness of large coherence components.
The high temperature deformation behavior of SiCp/2124Al composite and 2124Al alloy was investigated by hot compression test in a temperature ranged $400~475^{\circ}C$ over a strain rate ranged $10^{-3}~1s^{-1}$. The billets of 2124Al alloy and SiCp/2124Al composite were fabricated by vacuum hot pressing process. The stress-strain curve during high temperature deformation exhibited a peak stress, and then the flow stress decreased gradually into a steady state stress with increasing the strain. It was found that the flow-softening behavior was attributed to the dynamic recovery, local dynamic recrystallization and dynamic precipitation during the deformation. The precipitation phases were identified as S' and S by TEM diffraction pattern. Base on the TEM inspection, the relationship between the Z-H parameter and subgrain size was found based on the experiment data. The dependence of flow stress on temperature and strain rate could be formulated well by a hyperbolic-sinusoidal relationship using the Zener-Hollomon parameter.

Dynamic behavior of temperature-dependent Reddy functionally graded (RFG) nanobeam subjected to thermomagnetic effects under the action of moving point load is carried out in the present work. Both symmetric and sigmoid functionally graded material distributions throughout the beam thickness are considered. To consider the significance of strain-stress gradient field, a material length scale parameter (LSP) is introduced while the significance of nonlocal elastic stress field is considered by introducing a nonlocal parameter (NP). In the framework of the nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT), the dynamic equations of motion are derived through Hamilton's principle. Navier approach is employed to solve the resulting equations of motion of the functionally graded (FG) nanoscale beam. The developed model is verified and compared with the available previous results and good agreement is observed. Effects of through-thickness variation of FG material distribution, beam aspect ratio, temperature variation, and magnetic field as well as the size-dependent parameters on the dynamic behavior are investigated. Introduction of the magnetic effect creates a hardening effect; therefore, higher values of natural frequencies are obtained while smaller values of the transverse deflections are produced. The obtained results can be useful as reference solutions for future dynamic and control analysis of FG nanobeams reinforced nanocomposites under thermomagnetic effects.
This paper is concerned with the material properties of functional high explosive(FHX) simulant at various strain rates ranging from $10^{-4}/sec$ to $10^1/sec$. Material properties of FHX at high strain rates are important in prediction of deformation modes of FHX in a warhead which undergoes dynamic loading. Inert FHX stimulant which has analogous mechanical properties with FHX was utilized for material tests due to safety issues. Uniaxial tensile tests at quasi-static strain rates ranging from $10^{-4}/sec$ to $10^{-2}/sec$ and intermediate strain rates ranging from $10^{-1}/sec$ to $10^1/sec$ were conducted with JANNAF specimen using a tensile testing machine, INTRON 5583, and developed high speed material testing machine, respectively. Uniaxial compressive tests at quasi-static strain rates and intermediate strain rates were conducted with cylindrical specimen using a dynamic materials testing machine, INSTRON 8801. And cyclic compressive loading tests were performed with various strain rates and strains. Deformation behaviors were investigated using captured images obtained from a high-speed camera.
The high temperature deformation behavior of spray-formed Al-19wt%Si-1.87wt%Mg-0.085wt.%Fe alloy was studied by torsion testing in the strain rate range of 0.001-1 sec-1 and in the temperature range of 300-500 $^{\circ}C$. The relationship between stress temperature and strain rate is expressed using the Power law. the behavior of dynamic recrystallization is showed in 300-35$0^{\circ}C$, 1-0.1sec-1 and the behavior of dynamic recovery is showed in 450-50$0^{\circ}C$, 0.01-0.001sec-1 The size of Si particles is mall when the temperature is low and the strain rate is high. The strain rate sensitivity(m) and the apparent activation energy(Q) indicate the dependence on strain rate and temperature for flow stress respectively. The hot ductility is high when m is high and Q is low. The maps of strain rate sensitivity and apparent activation energy suggest the optimum processing conditions.
