모멘트법을 이용한 AC 전기장 내의 단극성 입자의 전기응집 해석 (Analysis of Electrical Coagulation of Unipolar Charged Particles in an Alternating Electric Using Moment Method)

  • A numerical study has been carried out on the evolution of the particle size distribution for unipolar charged particles that experience coagulation in an alternating electric field. The collision frequency function of charged particles was analytically derived. The log-normal size distribution function is utilized for representing a poly-disperse size distribution and the moments of the particle size distribution are used to solve the general dynamic equation considering only AC electric force effect. The results are compared with the effects of brownian coagulation.

  • This paper presents the comparison of FRI(Foot Rotation Indicator) point and ZMP(Zero Moment Point) in biped robot stability. We showed FRI may be employed as a useful tool in stability analysis in biped robot. Also, we proposed the balancing joint trajectory derived from FRI point equation for stable gait. The numerical calculation routines and walking algorithms for simulation are performed by MATLAB. The procedure is composed of the leg trajectory planning, the generation of balancing trajectory, and the verification of dynamic stability.

  • Pushover analysis is frequently used for evaluation of seismic performance and determination of seismic demand of a building structure in the current structural engineering practice field. However, pushover analysis has a advantage for estimation of seismic demands, which cannot account for the contributions of higher modes to response or for a redistribution of inertia forces because of structural yielding and the associated changes in the vibration properties of the structures. Recently, Chopra and Coel(2001) derived uncoupled inelastic dynamic equation of motion with several assumptions in the pushover analysis. By using this approach, pushover analysis for each mode is carried out and modal pushover analysis method, which can consider higher mode effects of the building, was suggested. The principle objective of this study is to introduced the modal pushover analysis by Chopra et al.(2001) and investigated the applicability and validity of this method for the steel moment frames subjected to various earthquake ground motions.

  • One of the objectives of this study is to implement the direct calculation of the torsional moment of inertia for non-circular cross-sections, which is based on the St. Venant torsion formulation and the finite element method. Recently the proposed method provides a unique calculation of the torsional rigidity of simply and multiply connected cross-sections. Next, free vibration analyses of cylindrical and non-cylindrical helices with non-circular cross-sections are solved by a curved two-nodded mixed finite element based on the Timoshenko beam theory. Some thin-thick closed or open sections are handled and the natural frequencies of cylindrical and non-cylindrical helices are compared with the literature and the commercial finite element program SAP2000.

  • 가장 효과적인 모멘텀 교환장치인 CMG(Control Moment Gyro)는 고기동성이 요구되는 위성에 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 고기동성이 요구되는 소형 인공위성을 위한 Single-Gimbal CMG(SGCMG)에 대한 하드웨어 개발에 필요한 동역학식을 정리하였으며 이를 사용하여 CMG 설계에 필요한 요구사항이 도출되었다. 또한 도출된 요구사항에 따라 출력토크가 1.2Nm인 소형 CMG 성능검증 모델이 제작되었으며, 에러분석 및 성능시험이 수행되었다. 최대 출력토크, 김벌 과도응답특성, 최소 출력토크, 출력토크오차, 김벌 각속도 오차 등을 성능시험 항목으로 선정하어 실험 측정하였고, 시험 결과를 통해 설계 결과를 검증하였다.

닫힌 그루브를 갖는 외부가압 공기 패드 베어링의 동특성 해석 (Dynamic Characteristics of Externally Pressurized Air Pad Bearings with Closed Loop Grooves)

  • This paper presents a theoretical investigation of the dynamic characteristics of externally pressurized air pad bearings with closed loop grooves. These grooves are made on the surface of bearings to reduce the number of supply holes so that manufacturing costs can be reduced. The semi-implicit method is applied to calculate the time varying pressure profile on the air bearing surface owing to the advantages of numerical stability and fast time tracing characteristics. The static pressure of the groove bearings is much higher than that without grooves, so the groove bearings can provide high load carrying capacity. The equation of motion considering vertical motion and tilting motion are also solved using the Runge-Kutta 4th order method. By combining the semi-implicit method and the Runge-Kutta method, fast calculations of the dynamic behavior of the air bearing can be achieved. The variations of bearing reaction force, air film reaction moment, height, and tilting angle are investigated for the step force input, which is 20% higher than the bearing reaction, when the nominal clearance is 6 mm. The effect of the groove width and the groove depth are investigated by calculating the dynamic behavior. The possibility of the air hammering with the depth of the groove is found and discussed.

  • A numerical model has been proposed for a diffusion flame reactor to manufacture ultrafine $TiO_2$ powders. The model equations such as mass balance equation, the 0th, 1st, and 2nd moment equations of aerosols were considered. The phenomena such as $TiCl_4$ reaction rate, $TiO_2$ nucleation rate and the coagulation of $TiO_2$ powders were included in the aerosol dynamic equation. It is found that the $TiO_2$ particle concentration becomes higher, as the inlet $TiCl_4$ concentration and the total gas flow rate increase, and also as the flame temperature decreases. The $TiO_2$ particle size increases, as the flame temperature and the inlet $TiCl_4$ concentration increase and the total gas flow rate decreases.

  • In this paper, an optimal trunk trajectory for stable walking of biped robots is expressed as a simple differential equation, which is then solved by numerical methods. We used ZMP (Zero Moment Point), the virtual total ground reaction point within the region of the supporting food, as the criterion of stability of biped robot walking. If the ZMP is located outside of the stable region in dynamic walking, biped robots fall down. The biped robot considered in this paper consists of two legs and a trunk. The trajectories of the two legs and the ZMP of the biped robot are determined such that they are similar ti those of a human. Based upon those trajectories, the trunk trajectory is solved by numerically integrating differential dynamic equations. Leg motions are controlled by the computed torque control method. The effectiveness of control algorithm as well as the trajectories is confirmed by computer simulations.

  • Recently, dynamic system has been enlarged and is exposed to various types of disturbance. Thus designing controller for those dynamic system under random disturbance is not practically easy. As a result, the exact analysis for the system which is exposed to various irregular disturbance is quite important. In order to perform analysis, conventional BMR(Balanced Model Reduction) method is applied to moment equation in stochastic domain and reliable reduced order system model has been obtained.
