  • Presented is a Genetic Algorithm (GA) for dynamic partitioning an ATM LANE(LAN Emulation) network. LANE proves to be one of the best solutions to provide guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) for mid-size campus or enterprise networks with minor modification of legacy LAN facilities. However, there are few researches on the efficient LANE network operations to deal with scalability issues arising from broadcast traffic delivery. To cope with this scalability issue, proposed is a decision model named LANE Partitioning Problem (LPP) which aims at partitioning the entire LANE network into multiple Emulated LANs (ELANS), each of which works as an independent virtual LAN.

  • When and Where, What kind of agricultural products will be produced and provided for the market? It is a commercial requirement, and also an academic questions to remote sensing technology. Crop physiology analysis and growth monitoring are important elements for precision agriculture management. Remote sensing technology supplies us more selections and available spaces in this dynamic change study by producing images of different spatial, spectral and temporal resolutions. Especially, the hyperspectral remote sensing should do play a key role in crop growth investigation at national, regional and global scales. In the past five years, Chinese academy of sciences and Japan NTT-DATA have made great efforts to establish a prototype information service system to dynamically survey the vegetable planting situation in Nagano area of Japan mainly based on remote sensing data. For such concern, a flexible and light-duty flight system and some practical data processing system and some necessary background information should be rationally made together. In addition, some studies are also important, such as quick pre-processing for hyperspectral data, Multi-temporal vegetation index analysis, hyperspectral image classification in support of GIS data, etc. In this paper, several spectral data analysis models and a designed airborne platform are provided and discussed here.

  • Wireless sensor networks are sensing, computing, and communication infrastructures that allow us to sense events in the harsh environment. The networks consist of many deployed sensor nodes. Each sensor node senses and transmits the sensed data to the administrator or base station of the networks. The sensor nodes are generally remotely-deployed, and therefore, software update must be done at run-time via communication channel. The software code update protocol should be energy-efficient to maximize lifetime of the sensor nodes. In this paper, we present a MCUP, which is a multi-level code update protocol for resource-constrained sensor nodes. MCUP enables energy-efficient code update by supporting multi-level code management. Our simulation results show that MCUP can reduce energy consumption compared with the existing one-level code update schemes.

  • Computers have been increasingly recognized as tools for teaming, in addition to supporting industrial works. Such advantages e-Learning have as teaming at any time and place, distribution and management of standardized contents, mentoring with learners, immediate feed-backs, and dynamic learning have been applied in a variety of divisions. Despite of the researches and interests, the study on the different views between teachers who design and operate e-learning and students who receive lessons hasn't been enough. So it studied the recognition of middle school teachers and students on the e-Learning. <중략>The research result showed that there were similarity in the views between teachers and students on the concept of e-Learning. Many teachers and students have experienced the e-Learning directly or indirectly. Teachers and students showed similar opinions on the beforehand education and preferred subjects of the e-Learning. But the students required fast and immediate feedback of the teachers. Teachers and students showed similar opinions on the utilization of multimedia components to achieve the goal of education. But teachers thought that immediate feedback was important. The students thought it important to control the degree of difficulty. It suggests a way to activate the e-Learning of middle school efficiently with the research result.

  • The recent trend of performance increase in the smart mobile devices demands more power consumption and lower batter life time. Among three battery models of mathematical model, electrochemical model and electric model, the Thevenin's equivalent circuit with non-linear function model of SOC in the electrical model is widely used. However, the OCV results have only limited accuracy because of the characteristic shift caused by temperature and age and atypical impedance property that cannot expressed by electrical components. In this paper, the new battery model that improves the accuracy of the existing models is proposed. In the proposed simulator the mathematical model for SOC characteristic is improved and the adjustment for the temperature, the age of battery and atypical electrical characteristics. In the experimental results of predicting of the battery in the static and dynamic state, the proposed simulator shows improved MSE comparing to the results of the existing methods.

  • Ground motion records are commonly used for fragility curves (FCs) developing utilized in seismic loss estimating analysis for earthquake prone zones. These records could be 'real', say the recorded acceleration time series or 'simulated' records consistent with the regional seismicity and produced by use of alternative simulation methods. This study has focused on fragility curves developing for masonry buildings through computational 'simulated' ground motion records while evaluating the properness of these fragilities compared to the curves generated by the use of 'real' records. Assessing the dynamic responses of structures, nonlinear computational time history analyses through the equivalent single degree of freedom systems have been implemented on OpenSees platform. Accordingly, computational structural analyses of multi-story 3D frame structures with different stiffening members considering soil interaction have been carried out with finite element software according to (1992) Earthquake East-West component. The obtained results have been compared to each frame regarding soil interaction. Conclusion and recommendations with the discuss of obtaining findings are presented.

  • Ad-Hoc network technology is a mobile internet technology of the future that will be used widely not only in Mobile Network but also in Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) and Ubiquitous Network For this to occur, distributed routing protocol design, loop prevention for link information reduction in overhead for control messages and route restoration algorithm must be improved or complemented. Security techniques that can guarantee safe com-munication between Ad-Hot nodes net also be provided. This study proposes and evaluates a new authentication mechanism for MANET. The mechanism segregates the roles of certification authority to keep with the dynamic mobility of nodes and handle rapid and random topological changes with minimal over-head. That is, this model is characterized by its high expandability that allows the network to perform authentication service without the influence of joining and leaving nodes. The efficiency and security of this concept was evaluated through simulation.

  • Traditional demand forecasting methods are difficult to meet the needs of companies due to rapid changes in the market and the diversification of individual consumer needs. In a diversified production environment, the right demand forecast is an important factor for smooth yield management. Many of the existing predictive models commonly used in industry today are limited in function by little. The proposed model is designed to overcome these limitations, taking into account the part where each model performs better individually. In this paper, variables are extracted through Gray Relational analysis suitable for dynamic process analysis, and statistically predicted data is generated that includes characteristics of historical demand data produced through ARIMA forecasts. In combination with the LSTM model, demand forecasts can then be calculated by reflecting the many factors that affect demand forecast through an architecture that is structured to avoid the long-term dependency problems that the neural network model has.

The effect of Consumer Price, Interest Rate and Sales Performance on the KOSPI (소비자물가와 금리, 매출실적이 종합주가지수에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • Recently, the Korean economy is congested with Japan's economic retaliation, the US-China trade war, the Bank of Korea's 0.25% base rate cut and Korea's economic growth forecast revision. The purpose of this study is to analyze the KOSPI, CPI, Treasury bonds(3 years) Interest rate & sales performance of all industries, and examine the impact of each index on the KOSPI. The analysis period is from January 2003 to June 2019, and the effect of each index on the KOSPI is analyzed. In numerical analysis, we performed correlation coefficients and regression analysis. In the model analysis, the distribution, quadrant, scatter, box-plot and impulse response were examined. This study examined the volatility and dynamic characteristics of each index. As a result, the KOSPI showed a high correlation with sales and Treasury bonds, but showed a very low correlation with the CPI. The KOSPI will continue to be affected by sales and interest rates.

Structural health rating (SHR)-oriented 3D multi-scale finite element modeling and analysis of Stonecutters Bridge

  • The Stonecutters Bridge (SCB) in Hong Kong is the third-longest cable-stayed bridge in the world with a main span stretching 1,018 m between two 298 m high single-leg tapering composite towers. A Wind and Structural Health Monitoring System (WASHMS) is being implemented on SCB by the Highways Department of The Hong Kong SAR Government, and the SCB-WASHMS is composed of more than 1,300 sensors in 15 types. In order to establish a linkage between structural health monitoring and maintenance management, a Structural Health Rating System (SHRS) with relevant rating tools and indices is devised. On the basis of a 3D space frame finite element model (FEM) of SCB and model updating, this paper presents the development of an SHR-oriented 3D multi-scale FEM for the purpose of load-resistance analysis and damage evaluation in structural element level, including modeling, refinement and validation of the multi-scale FEM. The refined 3D structural segments at deck and towers are established in critical segment positions corresponding to maximum cable forces. The components in the critical segment region are modeled as a full 3D FEM and fitted into the 3D space frame FEM. The boundary conditions between beam and shell elements are performed conforming to equivalent stiffness, effective mass and compatibility of deformation. The 3D multi-scale FEM is verified by the in-situ measured dynamic characteristics and static response. A good agreement between the FEM and measurement results indicates that the 3D multi-scale FEM is precise and efficient for WASHMS and SHRS of SCB. In addition, stress distribution and concentration of the critical segments in the 3D multi-scale FEM under temperature loads, static wind loads and equivalent seismic loads are investigated. Stress concentration elements under equivalent seismic loads exist in the anchor zone in steel/concrete beam and the anchor plate edge in steel anchor box of the towers.
