Ozone을 이용한 염료용액의 탈색 처리 (The decolorization treatment of dye solutions by ozone)

  • Dye solutions were tested in order to find the optimal condition of ozonation and determine the progress of degradation, i.e., change of the parameters characterizing the dye solutions. From the results of our experiment we can conclude that almost all of the color was removed within a 10 minute time period. An ozone oxidation results in the effective removal of COD(60%). but the elimination of the total organic carbon(TOC) was not successful, only about 15~40% of TOC was removed from dyeing wastewater in 30 minutes. The color removal is much effective in using ozonation method.

변형 펜턴산화법을 이용한 유기폐수의 처리 (Organic Wastewater Treatment Using Modified Fenton's Oxidation)

  • 펜턴산화는 산화력이 매우 우수한 $OH{\cdot}$을 생성하여, 난분해성 유기폐수의 생분해성을 향상시킬 수 있으므로 다양한 용존 유기오염물질을 함유하고 있는 산업폐수의 처리에 널리 이용되고 있지만, 철염과 과산화수소 등의 약품비용과 Sludge 처분비용 때문에 현재로서는 그리 경제적인 공정이라고 볼 수 없다. 본 연구에서는 펜턴산화의 약품비용을 줄이고, 적은 약품으로 처리효율을 향상시키기 위한 변형 펜턴산화법과 혼합한 슬러지 재이용의 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 펜턴산화에서 사용되는 철염용액에 NaOH용액을 첨가하였더니 철염용액의 폭발적인 반응을 보고 이를 펜턴산화에 응용하게 되었다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 변형 펜턴산화 공정이란 펜턴산화에서 사용되는 철염용액에 NaOH를 넣어 적정 pH로 조정하여, 수산화물을 형성시킨 후 처리대상 시료에 주입하여 과산화수소와 반응시켜 $OH{\cdot}$을 형성시키는 방법이다. 이 때 대상시료로서는 대표적인 오염물질인 페놀을 사용하였고 자연수의 이온강도와 유사한 수준으로 맞추기 위하여 $NaHCO_3$를 적량 첨가하여 페놀 인공폐수를 조제하였다. 이를 이용하여, DO의 영향, 이온강도의 영향, 과산화수소 주입횟수에 따른 영향을 알아보았다. 또한, 침출수와 염색폐수에 적용시켜 본 결과 기존의 펜턴산화보다 더 나은 처리효율을 얻을 수 있었으며, 변형 펜턴산화법과 슬러지 반송을 조합하여 실험한 결과 철염을 50%만 주입하여도 기존의 펜턴산화와 유사한 수준의 처리효율을 얻을 수 있었다.

염색폐수의 생물학적 처리에 미치는 cosubstrates의 영향 및 색도제거 기전 연구 (A Study on the Effects of Cosubstrates on the Biological Treatment and the Decolorization Mechanisms of Dyeing Wastewater)

  • 본 연구에서는 염색폐수의 색도제거 기전을 미생물 floc에의 물리 화학적 흡착과 미생물의 대사에 의한 생물학적 제거의 두 가지로 분류하였다. 색도제거의 반응 조건, 즉 혐기/호기 조건, cosubstrate의 종류와 주입량 등을 회분식 실험에 의해 규명하고, 활성슬러지와 비활성슬러지의 biosorption 실험을 통하여 색도제거 기전을 확인하였다. 염색폐수의 색도는 호기조건과 혐기조건에서 각각 102 ${\Delta}$unit/g MLSS, 123 ${\Delta}$unit/g MLSS가 제거되어 혐기조건에서의 제거율이 높았으며, 유기물은 호기조건에서 82 $mg{\Delta}$COD/gMLSS, 혐기조건에서 75 $mg{\Delta}$COD/gMLSS 제거되어 호기조건에서 제거율이 더 높게 나타났다. Cosubstrate로서 실폐수인 가정하수와 acetate를 이용하여 주입량에 따른 염색폐수의 제거능을 분석한 결과, cosubsrate의 주입에 따라 색도 및 유기물 제거량이 증가함을 확인하였으며 가정하수보다는 acetate가 색도제거에 있어서 더 효율적인 cosubstrate임을 알 수 있었다. 활성슬러지와 멸균된 비활성슬러지를 이용한 색도제거 실험 결과. 비활성슬러지의 색도제거량은 가정하수의 주입에 따라 $20.3{\sim}37.3$ ${\Delta}$unit/g MLSS, 활성슬러지는 $102.0{\sim}159.0$ ${\Delta}$unit/g MLSS로 나타났다. 또한 반응 초기에는 물리 화학적 흡착이 우세하였으나 시간이 지나면서 생물대사 작용에 의한 제거가 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, cosubstrate의 주입에 따른 미생물의 대사에 의한 제거분율이 증가하는 것으로 분석되었고, 이는 호흡율 측정결과와도 그 경향이 일치하였다.

PEG 포괄고정화담체를 이용한 난분해성 염색폐수 처리 (Refractory Textile Wastewater Treatment Using Cell-Immobilized Polyethylene glycol Media)

  • 본 연구에서는 생물학적 처리방법으로 염색폐수의 난분해성 유기물질을 효과적으로 처리하기 위한 방안으로 활성슬러지를 Polyethylene glycol(PEG)에 포괄고정화한 담체를 유동상 반응기를 이용하여 난분해성 유기물질의 처리효율을 평가하고 적정 운전인자를 검토하였다. 담체는 내경 4 mm${\times}$높이 4 mm의 원통형으로 미세공극을 가진 PEG재질의 담체를 제조하기 위해 PEG-prepolymer와 미생물을 젤 상태에서 혼합하여 고형화 시켰으며, 이때 담체에 사용된 미생물은 염색폐수에 순응시키지 않은 상태에서 합성되었다. 연속 호기성 유동상 반응기의 유입수는 $SCOD_{Cr}$ 약 330 mg/L, $SBOD_5$ 20 mg/L 이하의 생물학적 처리수를 사용하였고, 체류시간의 변화에 따른 각 반응기의 난분해성 유기물질 제거효율을 비교하였다 생물학적 처리수를 유입수로 하여 동일한 HRT로 운전한 결과 모든 조건에서 45% 이상의 유기물 제거효율을 보였으며, HRT 12 hr이 유기물 제거효율 등을 고려할 때 안정된 효율을 얻을 수 있는 적정 체류시간으로 판단되었다. 특히 기질환경의 변화에 따른 유기물 제거효율의 변화를 확인하기 위하여 생물학적 처리전의 처리장 유입폐수를 처리한 결과 $SCOD_{Cr}$ 70% 이상, $SBOD_5$ 97% 이상의 높은 처리효과를 나타내었다. 포괄고정화 담체를 이용한 염색폐수처리에서 유동상 반응기는 기존 활성슬러지 공정을 대신하거나 혼용하여 적용하는 것이 가능할 것으로 판단되어진다.

천연 인디고를 활용한 Digital Textile Printing용 잉크의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of Ink for Digital Textile Printing Using Natural Indigo)

  • Natural dyes are more expensive than synthetic dyes and the dyeing process, which is mainly immersion of dye, is complicated. For this reason, relatively small-scale production methods were predominant. However, awareness and interest in environmental sustainability is rising globally, and the use of synthetic dyes causes various environmental problems such as wastewater and CO2 emission, so the consumption of natural dyes is increasing. In addition, interest in digital textile printing, an eco-friendly dyeing method that can produce products of various designs and uses less water, is growing. In this study, natural indigo dye (Indigofera tinctoria) was used as a raw material for Digital Textile Printing ink, and 14C (Biocarbon) present in it was measured to confirm whether it was derived from natural ingredients. The performance was confirmed by testing the pH, viscosity, electrical conductivity, surface tension, and particle size analysis of natural indigo ink. In addition, the performance of natural indigo DTP ink and printing fabric was evaluated by inspecting the change in color fastness and corresponding index substances before and after digital printing with natural indigo DTP ink on textiles. Through this, the possibility of commercialization of DTP ink and printing fabric using natural indigo was confirmed.

폐수처리슬러지의 재활용기술개발 및 경제성 평가 -B염색조합을 중심으로- (Reuse Technology Development and Economic Evaluation of Dyeing Wastewater Treatment Sludge)

  • 본 연구는 B 염색조합 공동폐수처리장의염색폐수 처리공정중 Fenton 공정에서 발생되는 무기슬러지의 처리 및 재활용에 관한 연구로서, Pilot plant에 의하여 재용해철($Fe^{3+}$)과 FECL의 혼합용액을 사용한 연속식 산화실험 결과, 처리수의 $COD_{cl}$ 는 대략 100 mg/l이하였으며 이때 $COD_{cl}$제거율은 78.9%로 $H_2O_2/Fe^{total}$가 대략 1.5범위에서 최적치를 나타내었다. 슬러지의 용해공정 후에 배출되는 2차 슬러지에 대하여 3성분을 측정하여 1차 슬러지와 비교해 볼 때 회분은 약 85%가 감소되었으며, 건조기준 총 슬러지는 약 65%의 감량율을 나타내었고, 슬러지의 속의 철염의 재용해율은 대략 90~95%정도였다 슬러지 재활용공정의 예상투자비용은 시설용량 30,000 $m^3$/d/d 기준으로 약 3.5억원이 소요되며, 예상운영비는 하루에 약 130만원(연간 4.2억원)의 절감을 예상할 수 있으며, 투자비에 대한 이자비용을 감안하면 설비투자비용에 대한 투자자본금 회수기간(PP)은 약 10.5개월이 필요하고, 회계적이익율(ARR)은 179%, 순현재가치(NPV)는 7.92억원, 내부수익률(IRR)은 약 110%로 충분한 투자가치가 있는 것으로 판명되었다.

Responses of Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Yield and Percolation Water Qualities to Alternative Irrigation Waters

  • Objective of this study was to investigate the influences of harvest index and percolation water quality as irrigated the discharge waters from an industrial and a municipal wastewater treatment plants and seawater (1:5 seawater: tap water) as alternative water resources during tillering stage for drought stress. There were four different treatments such as the discharge water from an industrial (textile dyeing manufacture plant) wastewater treatment plant (DIWT), discharge water from the municipal wastewater treatment plant (DMWT), seawater (1:5) and groundwater as a control. For the initial chemical compositions of alternative waters, it appeared that higher concentrations of COD, $Mn^{2+}$, and $Ni^+$ in DIWT were observed than reused criteria of other country for irrigation, and concentrations of $EC_i$, Cl, and $SO_4$ in seawater were higher than that for irrigation. Harvest index was not significantly different between DIWT and DMWT with different irrigation periods in two soil types, but that of seawater (1:5) is decreased with irrigation periods in clay loam soil and not different between 10 days and 20 days of irrigation periods in sandy loam soil. For percolation water qualities, values of sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) are increased with prolonging the irrigation periods of seawater (1:5) and DIWT, but those of DMWT were almost constant through the cultivation periods regardless of the irrigation period in both soil types. EG of percolation waters is eventually increased with prolonging days after irrigation regardless of irrigation periods in both soil types. Therefore, it might be concluded that there was potentially safe to irrigate the discharge water from municipal wastewater treatment plant relative to harvest index, SAR and $EC_i$ values of the ground water through the rice cultivation period at tillering stage for drought period.

전기화학적인 방법에 의한 반응성 염료폐수의 처리 (Treatment of reactive dyes wastewater by electrochemical method)

  • Reactive dyes waste water, a toxic and refractory pollutant, was treated by an electrochemical method using $Ti/IrO_2$ as anode and Stainless Steel 316 as cathode. In this technique, sodium chloride as an electrolyte was added. A number of experiments were run in a batch system. Artificial samples (reactive blue 19, red 195, yellow 145) were used. Operation parameters, such as supporting electrolyte concentration, current density, pH and sample concentration have been investigated for their influences on COD and color removal efficiencies during electrolysis. After 5 and 90 minites of eletrolysis, color was reduced by 51.5% and 98.9% respectively. Under the condition of current density $10A/dm^2$, NaCl concentration 12mg/l and pH 3, 62.9% of $COD_{Cr}$ was removed after electrolysis for 90 minites. The optimum condition of color removal and COD reduction in this work was found to be the following : pH 3, sodium chloride concentration 20g/l, current density $10A/dm^2$. As a result, we confirmed to be effective to color removal and reduction of refractory organic material.

발생원 유형에 따른 공기 중 휘발성 유기화합물의 비산배출 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Fugitive Emission Characteristics of Airborne Volatile Organic Compounds from Different Source Categories)

  • In this study, the fugitive emission characteristics of airborne volatile organic compounds from different source categories were evaluated with respect to the concentrations measured in the vicinity of the sources. A total of 22 different sources were investigated, including gasoline storage and filling stations, painting spray booth, laundry, printing officer, textile industries, and a number of environmental sanitary facilities such as landfill, wastewater treatment and incineration plants. The target VOCs included 83 individual compounds, which were determined by adsorption sampling and thermal desorption coupled with GC/MS analysis. Overall, the aliphatic compounds appeared to be the most abundant class of compounds in terms of their concentrations, followed by aromatic, and halogenated hydrocarbons. As a single compound, however, toluene was the most abundant one, explaining 11% of the total VOC concentrations as an average of all the dataset. Among source categories, petroleum associated sources such as gasoline storage/filling stations, and laundry factory were identified as the most significant sources of aliphatic hydrocarbons, while aromatic VOCs were dominantly emitted from the sources handling organic solvents, such as painting booth, printing offices, and textile dyeing processes. However. there was no apparent pattern in terms of the contributions of eath group to the total VOCs concentrations in environmental sanitary facilities. It was also found that the activated carbon adsorption tower installed for the VOC emission control in some facilities do not show any effective performances, which may result in the increased VOC levels in the ambient atmosphere.

메리골드 안료를 이용한 친환경 텍스타일 프린팅(1): 바인더의 종류와 혼합비율의 효과 (Eco-friendly Textile Printing using Marigold Pigment(1): Effect of Binder Type and Mixing Ratio)

  • Dyeing is an essential process for improving the value of textile products, but it is considered as one of industries causing pollution because of producing wastewater containing hazardous chemicals as well as using a large amount of water and energy. Global demand for greener technologies in textile field is getting much more attention and accordingly, the use of eco-friendly natural dyes is growing much larger. In textile printing, both dyes and pigments can be used. Pigment printing is more simple process and requires less water and less energy, compared to dye printing. In this study, the organic pigment was prepared from the marigold colorant. Samples were stencil printed, pressed(70℃, 3min) and then heat treated(150℃, 5min). The uptake of polyacrylic acid as a chemical binder was the lowest. In particular, marigold pigments were excellent in color and texture when Guar Gum and Sodium Alginate were used as binders. In addition, the light and washing fastness was rated very high as 4, 4/5 grades, and the rubbing fastness was also excellent as 3 and 4 grades.
