We investigate the microstructural and magnetic property changes of $DyH_2$, $Cu+DyH_2$, and $Al+DyH_2$ diffusion-treated NdFeB sintered magnets with the post annealing (PA) temperature. The coercivity of all the diffusion-treated magnets increases with increasing heat treatment temperature except at $910^{\circ}C$, where it decreases slightly. Moreover, at $880^{\circ}C$, the coercivity increases by 3.8 kOe in Cu and 4.7 kOe in Al-mixed $DyH_2$-coated magnets, whereas this increase is relatively low (3.0 kOe) in the magnet coated with only $DyH_2$. Both Cu and Al have an almost similar effect on the coercivity improvement, particularly over the heat treatment temperature range of $790-880^{\circ}C$. The diffusivity and diffusion depth of Dy increases in those magnets that are treated with Cu or Al-mixed $DyH_2$, mainly because of the comparatively easy diffusion path provided by Cu and Al owing to their solubility in the Nd-rich grain boundary phase. The formation of a highly anisotropic $(Nd,\;Dy)_2Fe_{14}B$ phase layer, which acts as the shell in the core-shell-type structure so as to prevent the reverse domain movement, is the cause of enhanced coercivity of diffusion-treated Nd-Fe-B magnets.
The adsorption of disperse yellow 3 (DY 3) on granular activated carbon (GAC) was investigated for isothermal adsorption and kinetic and thermodynamic parameters by experimenting with initial concentration, contact time, temperature, and pH of the dye as adsorption parameters. In the pH change experiment, the adsorption percent of DY 3 on activated carbon was highest in the acidic region, pH 3 due to electrostatic attraction between the surface of the activated carbon with positive charge and the anion (OH-) of DY 3. The adsorption equilibrium data of DY 3 fit the Langmuir isothermal adsorption equation best, and it was found that activated carbon can effectively remove DY 3 from the calculated separation factor (RL). The heat of adsorption-related constant (B) from the Temkin equation did not exceed 20 J mol-1, indicating that it is a physical adsorption process. The pseudo second order kinetic model fits well within 10.72% of the error percent in the kinetic experiments. The plots for Weber and Morris intraparticle diffusion model were divided into two straight lines. The intraparticle diffusion rate was slow because the slope of the stage 2 (intraparticle diffusion) was smaller than that of stage 1 (boundary layer diffusion). Therefore, it was confirmed that the intraparticle diffusion was rate controlling step. The free energy change of the DY 3 adsorption by activated carbon showed negative values at 298 ~ 318 K. As the temperature increased, the spontaneity increased. The enthalpy change of the adsorption reaction of DY 3 by activated carbon was 0.65 kJ mol-1, which was an endothermic reaction, and the entropy change was 2.14 J mol-1 K-1.
The coercivity $H_c$ of $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ magnets and $Nd_2Fe_{14}B/(Nd_{0.7}Dy_{0.3})_2Fe_{14}B$ composite magnets were calculated by computer simulation based on the micromagnetic theory under assumptions that $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ and $(Nd_{0.7}Dy_{0.3})_2Fe_{14}B$ grains have magnetically deteriorated layers on their surfaces and diffusion of Dy from $(Nd_{0.7}Dy_{0.3})_2Fe_{14}B$ grains to $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ ones through the contacting boundaries recovers the magnetic anisotropy of the deteriorated layers of $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ grains. $H_c$ of $Nd_2Fe_{14}B/(Nd_{0.7}Dy_{0.3})_2Fe_{14}B$ composite magnets increased by the diffusion of Dy from $(Nd_{0.7}Dy_{0.3})_2Fe_{14}B$ grains to $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ ones and the resultant recovery of the anisotropy field of deteriorated layers of $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ grains. The $H_c$ vs fraction of $(Nd_{0.7}Dy_{0.3})_2Fe_{14}B$ grains curve were convex for the magnets with the degree of alignment between 0.94 and 0.99, which suggests that the above composite magnets have larger $H_c$ values than the alloy-magnets with the same Dy content, and that we can save the consumption of Dy by using these composite magnets.
Grain boundary diffusion technique with $DyH_3$ nanoparticles was applied to fabricate Dy-less sintered Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets with high coercivity. The magnetic properties and microstructure of magnets were systematically studied. The coercivity and remanence of grain boundary diffusion magnet were improved by 60% and reduced by 7% compared with those of the original magnet, respectively. Meanwhile, both the remanence temperature coefficient (${\alpha}$) and the coercivity temperature coefficient (${\beta}$) of the magnets were improved after diffusion treatment. Investigation shows that Dy is preferentially enriched as (Nd, Dy)$_2Fe_{14}B$ phase in the surface region of the $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ matrix grains indicated by the remarkable enhancement of the magneto-crystalline anisotropy field of the magnet. As a result, the magnet diffused with a small amount of Dy nanoparticles possesses enhanced coercivity without remarkably sacrificing its magnetization.
[ $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ ]permanent magnetic powders ($_iH_c$ = 9.2 kOe, $B_r$ = 12.2 kG) were produced by HDDR process. Their coercivity was enhanced to 12.6 kOe through the grain boundary diffusion process with dysprosium hydride ($DyH_x$). $DyH_x$ diffusion process was optimized through rotating diffusion process, resulting in distinct phases rich in Nd and Dy observable by field emission scanning microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The mechanism of coercivity enhancement that resulted in restrain the coupling effect between $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ grains is also discussed.
Recently, the grain boundary diffusion process (GBDP), involving heavy rare-earth elements such as Dy and Tb, has been widely used to enhance the coercivity of Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets. For example, a Dy compound is coated onto the surface of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets, and then the magnets are heat treated. Subsequently, Dy diffuses into the grain boundaries of Nd-Fe-B magnets, forming Dy-Fe-B or Nd-Dy-Fe-B. The dip-coating process is also used widely instead of the GBDP. However, it is quite hard to control the thickness uniformity using dip coating. In this study, first, a $DyF_3$ paste is fabricated using $DyF_3$ powder. Subsequently, the fabricated $DyF_3$ paste is homogeneously coated onto the surface of a Nd-Fe-B sintered magnet. The magnet is then subjected to GBDP to enhance its coercivity. The weight ratio of binder and $DyF_3$ powder is controlled, and we find that the coercivity enhances with decreasing binder content. In addition, the maximum coercivity is obtained with the paste containing 70 wt% of $DyF_3$ powder.

We present a method, supported by theoretical analysis, for optimizing the usage of the critical rare earth element dysprosium in $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ (NdFeB)-based permanent magnets. In this method, we use Dy selectively in locations such as magnet edges and faces, where demagnetization factors are largest, rather than uniformly throughout the bulk sample. A200 nm thick Dy film was sputtered onto a commercial N-38, NdFeB magnets with a thickness of 3 mm and post-annealed at temperatures from $600-700^{\circ}C$. Magnets displayed enhanced coercivities after post-annealing and as much as a 5 % increase in the energy product, while requiring a total Dy content of 0.06 wt. % - a small fraction of that used in the commercial grade Dy-NdFeB magnets. By assuming all Dy diffused into NdFeB magnets, the improvement in energy product corresponds to a saving of over 1% Dy (critical element). Magnets manufactured using this technique will therefore be higher performing which would potentially broaden the application space of these magnets in the traction motors of hybrid and pure electric vehicles, and wind generators.

Coastal areas, especially embayments are apt to be polluted easily and many embayments in Korea are already suffering from pollution problems. To manage such pollution, it is strongly needed to develop technique to trace movements of pollution. Such technique cove- ring the embayment affected by the tidal influence, should take account both of the convection and the diffusion motions which cause lots of problems in numerical calculation. In this study, a Eulerian-Lagrangian Analysis(ELA) model was applied to Young Il bay and tested for its applicablity, which was developed by using the Eulerian-Lagrangian Method that reduce the numerical disperison and oscillation by way of solving convection and diffusion terrns separately. Concentration of Chemical Oxygen Demand(COD) and Suspend Solid(SS) of the embay- ment area were estimated by the model and compared with the observed values and the sound results were obtained. At the same time the diffsion coefficient and decay coefficient for Chemical Oxygen Demand in the Young II Bay were found as Dx = Dy = 20m$^2$/sec, kd=2.5 ${\times}$ 10-5/sec respectively, and for Suspend Solid, Dx =Dy = 30m$^2$/sec, kd=5.0${\times}$ 10-5/sec
The telecommunications market is expanding rapidly and becoming more substitutive. In this environment, demand forecasting is very difficult, yet important for both practitioners and researchers. in this paper, we adopt the modeling approach proposed dy Jun and Park [6]. The basic premise is that demand patterns result from choice behavior, where customers choose a product to maximize their utility. We apply a choice-based substitutive diffusion model to the Korean mobile telecommunication service market where digital service has completely replaced analog service. In comparison with Bass-type multigeneration models. our model provides superior fitting and forecasting performance. The choice-based model is useful in that it enables the description of such complicated environments and provides the flexibility to include marketing mix variables such as price and advertising in the regression analysis.
