  • For the past few decades, residential improvement projects have been mainly carried out after demolition of the original dwelling place. So far, interests and opinions of the existing residents have largely been ignored during the projects. However, citizen participation in local redevelopment has recently been regarded as essential part as progress in democracy and diversified public interests have offered more importance to citizen participation in the implementation of public policies. While the importance of resident participation has been increasingly emphasized in principle, there still has been more to do in its application in reality. We should develop the experience of collecting community opinion to make them reflected in public policy, if we are to achieve the resident and citizen-centered society. The purpose of this study is to develop an image map tool that can be applied to "Maul-Mandulgi" projects as a visualized method to facilitate the exchange of opinions and work toward agreements. The tool is supposed to assist the public discussion by visualizing the policies and reducing the possibility of misunderstanding, so that residents can properly respond to them. In addition, this study will verify the effectiveness of the tool in the application to local community workshops.

  • Friedensreich Hundertwasser , born in Vienna 1928, is a painter, an architect and an environmentalist. His architecture is radically different from the traditional , straight -lined, functional architecture practised, for example, by the Bauhaus Masters. From the very beginning , he has tried by various means to show that radical change in thinking are necessary , possible and realized. Hundertwasser's goal in this architecture is to make and give human dwelling in harmony with nature. his architecture is characterized by avoidance of straight lines, " Window Right", irregular arrangement of windows, onion dom, a wealth of colours and such environmentally -friendly consideration as planting of roofs and realizing of "tree-tenants". hundertwasser sees houses as evolving creations which are to be shaped by their inhabitants. He hates Uniformity. The irregularity is always the guiding principle in his architecture. The Hundertwasser's architeucture express his fundamental belief that we may not simply rob nature of her resources, but that we must also return territory to nature which we habe stolen from her. Roofs, terraces and courtyards planted with vegetation and " tree-tenants" build bridges between man and nature. They influse the architecture with vitality and romanticism and are a statement of a quality rather than a standard of living. It is quite possible to value the architecture of Hundertwasser as an important inspiration, as a sort of turning point in the thoughts and actions of city planners. It's success could be healing shock for the international architectural community, which is hypnotized by technology and abused by the shortsighted interests of ren.tability . Under this pressure, today's architects trend to reduce people to a mere part of the " Dwelling machine", without acknowledging that in the long run such machines eat away at people's souls.uch machines eat away at people's souls.

  • Dwelling environments that can help elderly farmers to live more safely, independently, and conveniently are becoming more and more important. Many rural houses are built without any particular architectural or energy-related criteria, so most of them have poor insulation. The construction technology used is also not precise, which increases the loads for heating and cooling. Therefore, rural houses need to be improved. Also, there is more and more need for plans to realize eco-friendly dwellings, so the principle of nature-oriented plans related to the direction, insulation, or landscaping of a house is being emphasized. Insulation is one of the most effective ways to save energy for heating and cooling. This preliminary study to improve the insulation of rural houses examined three regions in South Korea: the central region, the southern region, and the Jeju Island. A field investigation was conducted on a total of 18 houses, including six from each town in the selected regions. The information was used to figure out the current status of rural houses and the characteristics of the buildings. The main living spaces are the living room for the central region and the main room in the southern region and Jeju Island. The southern regions are plane shapes surrounded by rooms, and all ventilation is accomplished by windows. The studied houses were mostly masonry structures with slate rooftops. Additions and improvements included room expansions and bathroom interior installations.

The following conclusion was made from the above results. Human beings cannot avoid death, but the span of life can be prolonged to the maximum span of human life by wisdom, health care, and proper environmental conditions. As a result, a health regimen must be imposed for longevity such as controling food intake, having positive thoughts, being relaxed, sleeping enough, clean dwelling, taking care of oneself which can improve immunity and resistance to decrease, as well as proper labor and exercise. In addition, when filial piety is served, the desire of longevity and retaining one's youthfulness for a long time can be achieved. These should be done to live long and lead a qualitative life. By the results of this research, the following is suggesed for nursing. To satisfy the basic nursing principle that nursing must be practiced to help people live long, education must be spread to people who are nursed and their family so that they can lead a healthy life. And in nursing elders, nurses must recognize that elders have a strong desire for life, even though they may have negative thoughts about life at times. Therefore nurses have to respect the elders' value of life, and help them improve their self-esteem and self -fulfilment.
