A Study on the Reception of International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships in Korea Law - Focusing on Coast Guard's Duties - (선박재활용 협약의 국내법상 수용방안 연구 - 해양경찰 업무를 중심으로 -)

  • It is necessary to prepare a plan to accommodate the International Convention in domestic law, focusing on the new duties for the Coast Guard as they pertain to the field of ship recycling, by studying the key issue of the "HONG KONG International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships" of the International Maritime Organization(IMO) and through analyzing the current status of the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard is directly responsible for the protection of the marine environment and takes charge of important duties; Therefore, by instituting a legal basis for its new duties, it will not only create new business but also be able to consolidate its role as an important constituent in the sphere of marine conservation and protection.

Effects of the Working Environment on Subjective Health Status (근로환경이 주관적 건강상태에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to prepare fundamental data and prevention measures on health promotion and occupational disease, and to assess the effects of the working environment on subjective health status and absenteeism among workers using data from the third working environment survey in Korea. Methods: This study's subjects were composed of 29,711 wage workers from the 3rd working environment survey data. The dependent variables were several diseases, subjective health status and absences, and the independent variable was the working environment. The collected data were analyzed by One-Way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and stepwise multiple analysis using the IBM SPSS(ver. 20.0) statistical package program. Results: The effecting factors for cardiovascular disease were age, working shift and emotional state. The effecting factors for anxiety and depression were years of education, working condition, duties, and emotional state. The effecting factors of insomnia were duty and emotional state. The positive effecting factors for absent days were work standing, working shift, number of night shifts, autonomy, and duties. The positive effecting factors of subjective health status were age, work standing, working years, working shift, appropriateness of working hours, leadership of superiors, duties and emotional state. Conclusions: Based on the above results, the author considers that it is necessary to improve the working environment to reduce absent days, such as by reducing of number of night shifts and giving autonomy regarding duties, and to improve the working environment for subjective health status such as by controlling the appropriateness of working hours and stability of the emotional state. In addition, this study provides fundamental data on health promotion and occupational disease among workers.

Study on Awareness and Factors Influencing on Duty of Cooking Soldier (취사병들의 직무에 대한 인식과 직무만족 영향 요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to help improving the quality of military food service as identifying awareness, attitudes and satisfaction of cooking soldier on their duties and providing basic data to find out alternatives on the basis of identified data. The analysis results are described as follows. For general demographics of subjects, sergeants consisted of the highest percentage of population as 38.8% in terms of the rank. For educational background, the percentage of graduates or college students was 82.5%. For the characteristics of job performance of cooking soldier, those who studied entirely different courses from cookery and became to work as cooking soldier were 92(89.3%) of total subjects. For the question why they became to work as cooking soldier, the response that they didn't know the reason showed the highest percentage as 63.1%. Those who selected cooking soldier because they were interested in cookery were only 25.2%. And 94.2% of the population had no certificates related to cookery. With respect to awareness on training period to carry on duties as cooking soldier, 3 months were selected as the most appropriate period as 36.9%. In accordance with research on job percentage of cooking soldier, 'cleaning and washing' consisted of the highest percentage among ordinary duties as 16.8%, followed by 'cooking' as 12.3% and 'food dispensing' as 11.8%. This study suggests as follows on the basis of the results of this researches. Cooking soldier requires expertise, but the privates with short period of service are discharged from military service when they are accustomed to their duties and become experts. Accordingly, the cooking soldier system could not achieve more than its ordinary performance. Therefore, it is required to post non-commissioned officers who can serve for a long time as the special resources.

Job Analysis of Coordinator Working in the Regional Cardiocerebrovascular Center (권역별 심뇌혈관질환센터 코디네이터 직무분석)

  • Purpose: This study was to analyze the job of coordinators working in the regional cardiocerebrovascular center. Methods: Using Developing a Curriculum (DACUM) method, the role of coordinators was defined and their duties and tasks were identified. The developed duties and tasks were classified and validated according to importance, difficulty, and frequency of the job. Results: A coordinator is defined as a clinical nurse specialist affiliated in a cardiocerebrovascular center. The coordinator is responsible for managing the major critical pathway to provide adequate medical service and providing education to the patient with myocardial infarction and cerebrovascular attack admitted via emergency room for prevention and management of disease. Ten duties and sixty-nine tasks were identified on the DACUM chart which represented the importance, difficulty, and frequency of tasks showed as A, B, C respectively. Based on determinant coefficient of the task, the highest ranked task was 'analysis for variation of CP' and the lowest was'investing the articles in stock'. Conclusion: The results of study showed that coordinators were doing various duties and tasks and they felt burden from their work and were in confusion. The results of this study can be used to develop training programs for coordinators and evaluation-scale of the coordinators' job performance as the basic data.

Development of Job Description of Nutrition Teacher by the DACUM Method (DACUM 기법에 의한 영양교사 직무기술서 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a standard job description for a nutrition teacher placed in primary and secondary schools by analyzing their duties. DACUM is an acronym for 'Developing A CUrriculuM'. It was used by experts to determine the job duties, tasks and task elements to establish the job descriptions of a nutrition teachers through the development of a DACUM chart. An expert panel consisting of 10 nutrition teachers participated in a DACUM workshop and derived nutrition teacher's DACUM chart. A total of 1,550 nutrition teachers across the country were targeted as the survey subjects for validation of the DACUM chart through their perception of the frequency, importance, and difficulty of each item in the job description. A tree structure, criticality analysis, and contents validity index were added for verification. The definition of the nutrition teacher's job and DACUM chart with 5 duties, 28 tasks, and 107 task elements were derived by the DACUM method. The definition of a nutrition teacher was 'A teacher who is responsible for food service management and nutrition education and counseling for health promotion and disease prevention for students in primary and secondary schools'. The validation results of the tree structure were the priorities of the 28 tasks with ranks 1 and 2. Because there was no third priority, it was considered to be a good representation of the tasks of nutrition teachers. The DACUM chart was found to be evenly distributed with relative importances of more than 17 or less than 11 through the criticality analysis. Since the C5-4 (Conduct simulation exercise against food poisoning)'s content validity index was significantly less than the reference value of 0.78, it was not included in the final job description. 5 duties, 28 tasks, 102 task elements were included in the final job description of a nutrition teacher.

A Survey on the Dietary Life toy Kimchi of Housewives in Wonju Area (김치에 관한 원주지역 주부들의 식생활 실태조사)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the dietary life about Kimchi of the housewives. Self-administrated questionnaires were completed by 322 housewives in Wonju area. The results were as follows: In the point of housewives' domestic duties, over 50% of housewives took care of their domestic duties alone, and the rate who learned how to manage domestic duties from their mothers before marriage decreased as the age got younger. 77.6% of housewives responded that both man and woman could manage a dietary life at home in the future, and the rate of such response was higher as their educational careers were higher and they were younger. In the point of housewives' basic situation about Kimchi, the rate of housewives who knew how to prepare kimchi was high as they were older, and the holding rate of a refrigerator for Kimchi was high as much as 72.4%. In the point of preparation for Kimchi, the rate who made Kimchi by themselves was high, but the rate of preparing Kimchi by their parents for them was higher in the twenties. Frequency of making Kimchi, an amount or a kind of Kimchi were notably different according to housewives' age, a type of their family, the number of their family, and their having a job or not. Housewives' opinion of a market kimchi was that it was expensive, and not sanitary, and rate of purchasing Kimchi was also low. In the point of the prepartion method of Kimchi for the winter, the rate who gained Kimchi from their parents was higher as they lived in an apartment, and had a nuclear family, and had the lesser family members. In an amount of Kimchi prepared for the winter, 11∼22 heads were 23.9% and 21∼30 heads were 21.9%. In the point of the method preparing Kimchi in the future, 53.8% of housewives responded that they would make by themselves, and 28.0% answered they would prepare or purchase. 77.4% of housewives answered that they would teach how to make Kimchi to their children. In conclusion, in housewives of Wonju area, wanted to make Kimchi by themselves and wanted their children to learn how to make Kimchi.

A Study on the Relationship among Circadian Types, Sleep Quality and Adaptation to Night Shifts among Nurses Working on Two or Three Day Night Duties (2~3일 밤번근무 간호사의 일주기 수면유형, 수면의 질, 밤번근무 적응도의 관계)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify relationships among circadian types, sleep quality, and adaptation to night shifts among nurses working on two or three day night duties. Methods: The participants were 199 ward nurses from two university hospitals in Gyeongnam province. Each nurse worked on two or three day night duties. Data were collected between September 24 and October 14, 2012 and analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\grave{e}}$ test, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 14.0 program. Results: Mean scores for sleep quality and adaptation to night shifts was $4.92{\pm}1.46$ on a 10-point scale and $2.66{\pm}0.47$ on a 5-point scale respectively. There were no significant differences in sleep quality and adaptation to night shifts according to circadian types of nurses. There were significant correlation between sleep quality and adaptation to night shifts (r=.25, p<.001). Factors affecting adaptation to night shifts were preference for night shifts, and subjective health status, which together explained about 35% of the total variance. Conclusions: Nurses working on two or three day night duties had low level of sleep quality and adaptation to night shifts. It is necessary to improve preference for night shifts and subjective health status for improving adaptation to night shifts of nurse.

Development of Job Description of HIV/AIDS Counselling Nurse in Korea (에이즈 상담간호사 자격제도 개발을 위한 직무 분석 - 포커스 그룹 연구방법과 데이컴 기법을 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze the needs of HIV/AIDS care and to develop the job description of HIV/AIDS Counselling nurse in Korea. Methods: The needs assessment was done by focus group interview with HIV/AIDS care recipients who are 16 persons living with HIV/AIDS and four their family members, seven persons from HIV/AIDS high risk group, and five nurses working on HIV/AIDS clinics. Based on the result of needs assessment, job description was developed using the DACUM. Mail survey was done to identify the frequency, importance, and difficulty of duties, tasks, and task elements. Results: The job description was classified under 8 duties, 36 tasks, and 290 task elements. Duties were categorized as needs assessment, health promotion and quality of life, improvement of treatment compliance, symptom care, health education, resource network, administrative activity, and career development. The importance of all duties and tasks showed high score from the survey, but the frequency and the performance level were middle range. Conclusion: It is suggested that the special training program based on the job description needs to be developed. In the political aspects, the introduction of HIV/AIDS nurse specialist certification could be considered.

  • This study was aimed at investigating the job characteristics and job environment of records managers who are in archives of autonomous districts, find out the problems with the management of duties for local records managers, and deduce the improvement methods that could help records managers more efficiently perform their duties. Through literature review, the study investigated the concept of basic autonomous districts, the allocated summary and duties of records managers through with basic autonomous districts, and the present conditions and duties of the archives through autonomous Gu offices that were in study. Based on the theories of job characteristics and job environment factors, the study drew up a survey that encompasses the present demographic summary, job characteristics, job environment, and working conditions.

  • To identify key job duties and core competencies of data librarians, this study conducted content analyses of 75 U.S. job advertisements of data librarians and statistical analyses of 105 responses from incumbent data librarians. As a result, the key job duties identified are jobs related to collaboration, workshops, trainings, conferences, data service, research consultation, and research support. Core competencies identified are communication skills, teaching, diversity, inclusion, and equality, data management, and data tool. This study is significant in that it analyzed the key duties and core competencies of the data librarians using the most up-to-date data and opinions collected from incumbent people. It can be a basis for future study such as on job satisfaction, user satisfaction, and perception surveys for data librarians.
