  • The purpose of this study is a development of an automatic mosaicing for applying to large number of airborne multispectral images, which reduces manual operation by human. 2436 airborne multispectral images were acquired from DuncanTech MS4100 camera with three bands; green, red and near infrared. LIDAR(LIght Detection And Ranging) data and GPS/INS(global positioning system/inertial navigation system) data were collected with the multispectral images. First, the multispectral images were converted to image patterns by unsupervised classification. Their patterns were compared with those of adjacent images to derive relative spatial position between images. Relative spatial positions were derived for 80% of the whole images. Second, it accomplished an automatic mosaicing using GPS/INS data and unsupervised classification. Since the time of GPS/INS data did not synchronized the time of readout images, synchronized GPS/INS data with the time of readout image were selected in consecutive data by comparing unsupervised classified images. This method realized mosaicing automatically for 96% images and RMSE (root mean square error) for the spatial precision of mosaiced images was only 1.44 m by validation with LIDAR data.

  • Nonlinear flow characteristics of a hydrofoil running under the free surface are investigated based on potential flow theory using singularity distribution techniques. Following Hess & Smith's method[12], sources and vortices are distributed on the surface of the foil and Rankine sources are distributed at a distance above the undisturbed free surface to solve the nonlinear free surface waves(so called Raised Panel Method). Using the linearized Neumann-Kelvin solution, the conversed solutions which rigidly satisfy the nonlinear free surface condition is obtained through an iterative technique. It is validated that the nonlinear solutions are compared with Duncan's experimental results(NACA 0012, $\alpha=5^{\circ}$), showing good correlations with each other. At a very shallow submergence and a very high speed the converged solutions are obtained. As the speed increases higher, it is shown that the difference between the nonlinear and linear solutions are trivial. Finally, the effects of the camber and thickness on the nonlinear flow characteristics of the foil are investigated.

  • The purpose of this study was to classify the body shapes. exclusive of size and corpulence factors of more than 60-year old elderly women by distinctions, and to investigate the visual effects of combination of ensemble suit details. For the body shape classification, the factor analysis and cluster analysis were performed : the mean value difference of numeral values for classified types were tested by ANOVA : and the follow-up test was conducted by the Duncan's multiple ranged test. The data analysis for visual effects evaluated by a multiple ranking test was analysed by mean. paired t-test, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple ranged test. The results are summarized as follows : 1. The followings are the types of body shape according to the shape factors of the front line of body for elderly women. The distinctions of the front li e of elderly women's body could be presumed; that was, Body typeⅠ was a comparatively well-balanced body type, Body type Ⅱ was close to an average body type. and Body type In was a severely corpulent body type. 2. The followings are the results on the physical visual effects inducing the constituents of clothing type. 1) The neckline·collar types of a jacket have a great influence on the visual effects of the upper body, and orderly. the tailored collar. soutien collar, and round neckline had positive influence on the visual effects in the upper body. 2) The pleat types of one-piece dress had positive influence on the visual effects in the lower body in the order of gored type, pleats type, and gathered type. Also. the balance in the lower body had more influence on the overall balance of the clothing compared to the constituents of clothing type such as neckline collar type or opening line. 3) It showed that whether there is the front opening line of a jacket influenced on the visual effects of all categories.

  • In Oriental Medicine, there have been a number of researches in 8-Constitution medicine which classifies human bodies into one of 8 categories. Since the diagnosis of 8-Constitution depending on pulse types is often subjective, standardization of the diagnosis and therapy requires objective characteristics of 8 constitutions. A questionnaire of 80 items about personal symptoms were given to patients while they were classified into one of 8 constitutions based on their pulse types and responses to constitution-based acupuncture therapy. One-way analysis of variance and Duncan's multiple comparison test were used to verify the significant items. Most of the significant items in this study coincided with supposed-to-be clinical characteristics of 8-constitutions.

  • To investigate the engineering characteristics of crushed rockfill material, the large-scaled triaxial tests have been carried out, The rpckfill is made from the greywacke, and the 3 parallel gradations with different maximum particle size(dmu=38.1mm, 25.4mm and 19.1mm) were designed for the test. The dimension of the specimen is 300mm in diameter and 600mm in height, and the applied confining stress varied from 5t/$51.6^{\circ}$ to 60t/$51.6^{\circ}$. The test results show that the influence of the maximum particle size on the stress -strain r$51.6^{\circ}\; to\; 40.5^{\circ}$ when the confining stress increases from 5t/$51.6^{\circ}$ to 60t/$51.6^{\circ}$ The hyperbolic parameter values estimated from the test result for rockfill are much different from the recommended values by Duncan et. at(1980) for GW and GP material, especially in the $\phi$ ad K-values.
