Cavitating flow simulation is of practical importance for many engineering systems, such as marine propellers, pump impellers, nozzles, injectors, torpedoes, etc. The present work has focused on the simulation of cavitating flow past cylinders with strong side flows. The governing equation is the Navier-Stokes equation based on the homogeneous mixture model. The momentum and energy equation is in the mixture phase while the continuity equation is solved liquid and vapor phase, separately. An implicit dual time and preconditioning method are employed for computational analysis. For the code validation, the results from the present solver have been compared with experiments and other numerical results. A fairly good agreement with the experimental data and other numerical results have been obtained. After the code validation, the strong side flow was applied to include the wake flow effects of the submarine or ocean tide.

In this paper, a three-dimensional Euler aeroelastic analysis program is developed with a second-order staggered algorithm to reduce the lagging errors between the fluid and structural solvers. In the unsteady aerodynamic analysis, a dual-time stepping method based on the diagonalized-ADI algorithm is adopted to improve the time accuracy and a parallelized multi-grid method is used to save the computing time. The aeroelastic analyses of AGARD 445.6 wing model have been performed to verify the Euler aeroelastic analysis code. The analysis results are compared with the experimental data and other computational results. The results show comparatively good correlation when they are compared with other references.

Quadratic programming problems(QP) have been widely used as a direction-finding subproblem in the engineering and structural design optimization. To develop an efficient solution algorithm for the QP subproblems, theoretical aspects and numerical behavior of mathematical programming methods that can be used as QP solver are studied and compared. For the solution of both primal and dual QP, Simplex, gradient projection(GRP), and augmented Lagrange multiplier algorithms are investigated and coded. From the numerical study, it is found that the primal GRP algorithm with potential constraint strategy and the dual Simplex algorithm are more attractive and effective than the others. They have theoretical robustness as well. Moreover, primal GRP algorithm is preferable in case the number of constraints is larger than the number of design variables. Favorable features of GRP and Simplex algorithm are merged into a combined algorithm, which is useful in the structural design optimization.

This paper presents the computations of the longitudinal and directional stability derivatives for the SDM(Standard Dynamic Model). The static and dynamic derivatives are evaluated at once using forced harmonic oscillations in the pitch and yaw directions. For the numerical simulations, a 3-D Euler solver that uses a dual time stepping method for unsteady time accurate simulations is applied. This work investigates the variation of the derivatives in terms of the Mach number and the several motion parameters. Good agreement of the pitch and yaw stability derivatives with previously published numerical results and experimental results are observed.
In this paper, the cavitating flows around a hydrofoil have been numerically investigated by using a 2-d multi-phase RANS flow solver based on pseudo-compressibility and a homogeneous mixture model on unstructured meshes. For this purpose, a vertex-centered finite-volume method was utilized in conjunction with 2nd-order Roe's FDS to discretize the inviscid fluxes. The viscous fluxes were computed based on central differencing. The Spalart-Allmaras one equation model was employed for the closure of turbulence. A dual-time stepping method and the Gauss-Seidel iteration were used for unsteady time integration. The phase change rate between the liquid and vapor phases was determined by Merkle's cavitation model based on the difference between local and vapor pressure. Steady state calculations were made for the modified NACA66 hydrofoil at several flow conditions. Good agreements were obtained between the present results and the experiment for the pressure coefficient on a hydrofoil surface. Additional calculation was made for cloud cavitation around the hydrofoil. The observation of the vapor structure, such as cavity size and shape, was made, and the flow characteristics around the cavity were analyzed. Good agreements were obtained between the present results and the experiment for the frequency and the Strouhal number of cavity oscillation.
This paper proposes the method of active distribution network expansion planning considering distributed generation integration and distribution network reconfiguration. The distribution network reconfiguration is taken as the expansion planning alternative with zero investment cost of the branches. During the process of the reconfiguration in expansion planning, all the branches are taken as the alternative branches. The objective is to minimize the total costs of the distribution network in the planning period. The expansion alternatives such as active management, new lines, new substations, substation expansion and Distributed Generation (DG) installation are considered. Distribution network reconfiguration is a complex mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem, with integration of DGs and active managements, the active distribution network expansion planning considering distribution network reconfiguration becomes much more complex. This paper converts the dual-level expansion model to Second-Order Cone Programming (SOCP) model, which can be solved with commercial solver GUROBI. The proposed model and method are tested on the modified IEEE 33-bus system and Portugal 54-bus system.

Dual-point aerodynamic design optimization is conducted for DLR-F6 wing-body-nacelle-pylon configuration adopting an efficient surface mesh movement method for complex junction geometries. A three-dimensional unstructured Euler solver and its discrete adjoint code are utilized for flow and sensitivity analysis, respectively. Considered design conditions are a low-lift condition and a cruise condition in a transonic regime. Design objective is to minimize drag and reduce shock strength at both flow conditions. Shape deformation is made by variation of the section shapes of inboard wing and pylon, nacelle vertical location and nacelle pitch angle. Hicks-Henne shape functions are employed for deformation of the section shapes of wing and pylon. By the design optimization, drag coefficients were remarkably reduced at both design conditions retaining specified lift coefficient and satisfying other constraints. Two-point design results show mixed features of the one-point design results at low-lift condition and cruise conditions.

In the present study, a strongly coupled analysis code is developed for transonic flutter analysis. For aerodynamic analysis, two dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equation was used for governing equation, and ε-SST for turbulence model, DP-SGS(Data Parallel Symmetric Gauss Seidel) Algorithm for parallelization algorithm. 2 degree-of-freedom pitch and plunge model was used for structural analysis. To obtain flutter response in the time domain, dual time stepping method was applied to both flow and structure solver. Strongly coupled method was implemented by successive iteration of fluid-structure interaction in pseudo time step. Computed results show flutter speed boundaries and limit cycle oscillation phenomena in addition to typical flutter responses - damped, divergent and neutral responses. It is also found that the accuracy of transonic flutter analysis is strongly dependent on the methodology of fluid-structure interaction as well as on the choice of turbulence model.

This paper presents computations of the dynamic derivatives of three dimensional flight vehicle configurations using CFD. The pitch dynamic derivatives are computed from the pitch sinusoidal motion, while the roll damping is computed based on steady state calculation using a non-inertial frame method. The Basic Finner and the SDM(Standard Dynamic Model) are chosen for the benchmark tests against other numerical and experimental results. For the flow calculations, a 3-D Euler solver that can be run both on the non-inertial frame and on the inertial frame is developed. A dual-time stepping method is applied for the unsteady time accurate simulations. A good agreement of pitch-roll dynamic derivatives with previously published numerical results and the experimental results is observed.

In this study, the shutdown system of the fuel gas supply system is designed based on the Safety Integrity Level of IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. First of all, the individual risk($10^{-4}$/year) and the risk matrix which are the risk acceptance criteria are set up for the qualitative risk assessment such as the HAZOP study. The natural gas leakage at the gas supply pipe is identified as the highest risk among the hazards identified through the HAZOP study and as a safety instrumented function the shutdown function for leakage was defined. SIL 2 and PFD($2.5{\cdot}10^{-3}$) for the shutdown function are determined by the layer of protection analysis(LOPA). The shutdown system(SIS) carrying out the shutdown function(SIF) is verified and designed according to qualitative and quantitative requirements of IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. As a result of SIL verification and SIS conceptual design, the shutdown system is composed of two gas detectors voted 1oo2, one programmable logic solver, and two shutdown valve voted 1oo2.
