This study is conducted to analyze the drying characteristics of domestically produced Lycii Fructus for improving drying conditions which was dependant on the shape and materials of drying plate. The materials of the drying plates were steel, aluminum and ABS resin, and each plate was shaped semicircle, quadrangular pyramid, and triangle pyramid. Also, mesh plate, the most general type was included. In other words, 10 kinds of plates were made and tested. The test was conducted at $45^{\circ}C$, for 24 hours and moisture content was measured every 4 hours. The quality of tested Lycii Fructus was measured by colorimeter after drying. The experimental results show that regardless of species of Lycii Fructus, the drying rate of the aluminium plate shaped quadrangular pyramid was fastest, 3.11%w.b./h. Except the mesh plate, the drying rate of most plates was about over 2.52%w.b./h. The quality of Lycii Fructus dried on the aluminium plate shaped quadrangular pyramid was the highest, and it was easiest to separate the dried Lycii Fructus from the aluminum plate shaped quadrangular pyramid.
Throughout the world, physical and chemical analyses of horticultural substrates are carried out in many different ways at the different laboratories. In Europe, standardization in properties and analytical methods of horticultural substrates has been a topic over the last decades. As a result, the CEN methods as European standard methods for the physical and chemical analyses were introduced and the final draft was reported in 1999 by CEN(Committee for European Standardization). Dry matter and moisture content are analyzed after drying samples at $103^{\circ}C$. Laboratory compacted bulk density is analyzed by determining the weight of sample compacted in the test cylinder with constant volume. Dry bulk density, particle density, total pore space, water volume, air volume and volume shrinkage are determined by saturating, draining and drying the sample using double rings and a sand suction table. pH and EC are analyzed by 1:5(sample:distilled water) extraction method on the basis of volume. Organic matter and ash content are determined after drying and combusting the samples. Now, CEN methods are being regarded almost as European standard methods. Further study needs to be carried out for universal applicability of the CEN methods to all the substrates.

Backfill material with thermal resistivity which has $50^{\circ}C$-cm/Watt in wet and $100^{\circ}C$-cm/Watt in dry is requested to improve the power transfer capability for dissipation of heat production in underground power cables. In the field test performed by buried cable backfills, the backfill material developed from this study is compared with river sand and weathered soil (native soil) to investigate the effect of heat transfer in various seasons and locations of thermal sensors. As a result, the developed backfill material is faster approaching yielding temperature (critical heat) than that of river sand and weathered soil, and it has good dissipation capacity rather than other materials by keeping moisture content at dry season.

In this study, we experimented that how to synthesis waterborne urethane-acrylic hybrid resin for leather coatings. First of all, We had analyzed data by FT-IR, SEM and TGA for the machanical properties. By TGA analysis polymers showed heat distortion temperature. and by FT-IR measurement we confirmed that synthesis of urethane and acrylic. In the experiment, solvent resistance, polyurethane and acrylic grades 4-5 showed both a high. Tensile strength measured in the waterborne polyurethane > Acrylic emulsion showed strength in the order. Films were obtained by coating the water born resin on leveled surfaces and allowing them to dry at room temperature for 72hrs. After demolding, the films were kept in a desiccator to avoid moisture contant at $25^{\circ}C$ for 45hrs before the measurements. In this result, the mechanical propersies of waterborne polyurethane-acrylic hybrid resin showed that how effect to resin in leather coating between polyurethane content and acrylic content. Therefore, acrylic emulsion had most high solvent resistance glade and waterborne polyurethane had good result in abrasion test and tensile strength.

This study was carried out to analyze the mechanical properties of soil for counterplan of recovery construction and the slope stability on fill slope of Sang-gul forest road in Mt. Gari. To analyze the mechanical properties of apparent soil on fill slope in forest road, various soils such as soil, gravelly sandy soil, weathered rock were used as experimental sample in this study. In each experimental sample, particle size distribution test, liquid limit test, plastic limit test, and specific gravity test were carried by Korean industrial standards(KS F 2302, KS F 2303, KS F 2304, KS F 2306, KS F 2308). Through the results of soil particle size distribution analysis, soil moisture content analysis, and specific gravity analysis, soil texture, uniformity coefficient, curvature coefficient, dry density and specific gravity were able to be determined in sampling site. As a results in this study, soil was classified as SP, SW, GP by Unified Soil Classification Standard (USCS). specific gravity and dry unit weight of soil have the value range of 2.52~2.60 and 1.39~1.43, respectively. Also plastic index showed non plastic condition.

Soil stabilization can make the soils becoming more stable by using an admixture to the soil. Lime stabilization enhances the engineering properties of soil, which includes reducing soil plasticity, increasing optimum moisture content, decreasing maximum dry density and improving soil compaction. Silica fume is utilized as a pozzolanic material in the application of soil stabilization. Silica fume was once considered non-environmental friendly. In this paper, the materials required are kaolin grade S300, lime and silica fume. The focus of the study is on the determination of the physical properties of the soils tested and the consolidation of kaolin mixed with 6% silica fume and different percentages (3%, 5%, 7% and 9%) of lime. Consolidation test is carried out on the kaolin and the mixtures of soil-lime-silica fume to investigate the effect of lime stabilization with silica fume additives on the consolidation of the mixtures. Based on the results obtained, all soil samples are indicated as soils with medium plasticity. For mixtures with 0% to 9% of lime with 6% SF, the decrease in the maximum dry density is about 15.9% and the increase in the optimum moisture content is about 23.5%. Decreases in the coefficient of permeability of the mixtures occur if compared to the coefficient of permeability of kaolin soft clay itself reduce the compression index (Cc) more than L-SF soil mix due to pozzolanic reaction between lime and silica fume and the optimum percent of lime-silica fume was found to be (5%+6%) mix. The average coefficient of volume compressibility decreases with increasing the stabilizer content due to pozzolanic reaction happening within the soil which results in changes in the soil matrix. Lime content +6% silica fume mix can reduce the coefficient of consolidation from at 3%L+6%SF, thereafter there is an increase from 9%L+6%SF mix. The optimal percentage of lime silica fume combination is attained at 5.0% lime and 6.0% silica fume in order to improve the shear strength of kaolin soft clay. Microstructural development took place in the stabilized soil due to increase in lime content of tertiary clay stabilized with 7% lime and 4% silica fume together.
Residues such as walnut, pinenut and peanut shells were used as a filler in adhesive for bonding radiata pine plywood. The nutshell residues were prepared by simply drying to 8% moisture content and grinding the dry material using a laboratory Wiley mill with a $75{\mu}m$ (200 mesh) screen. The nutshells residues were compared to a commercial filler commonly used in adhesives by the structural plywood and laminated veneer lumber industry in the United States. The adhesive mixes were made by following the recommended procedure of Georgia-Pacific Resins, Inc., using phenol-formaldehyde resin. For each filler type, three-ply plywoods, 6 mm nominal thickness and 30 by 30 cm in size, were fabricated at two press times (4 and 5 min) and around 30 minute assembly time. Evaluations of the nutshell residues were carried out by tension shear tests after cyclic boil tests on plywood. The results of the performance test included tension shear strength and wood failure. All plywoods made with the nutshell fillers were comparable to those made with the control filler. These results indicate that nutshell residues would be suitable as filler for plywood adhesives.
To recycle coal bottom ash(denoted here as CBA) generated from thermal power plants as a functional construction material, artificial soil(denoted as AS) containing CBA with dredged soil(denoted as DS) at a ratio(wt%) of 70 : 30 was manufactured by means of material engineering with sintering in a rotary kiln at $1125^{\circ}C$ using a green body formed via extrusion processing. The properties of the soil mechanics of the AS and the as-received CBA were analyzed and compared. Compaction testing results determined an optimum moisture content of the AS and CBA at 18%. During these tests, the maximum dry unit weights of the materials were similar, at 1.57 and 1.58 $t/m^3$, respectively. The compressive strength levels of the AS and CBA concrete specimens were 5.1 and 5.4 $t/m^3$, respectively, both of which increased after materials engineering processing. In a consolidation test, the compression index of the AS and CBA was found to be $0.114{\pm}0.001$ in both cases. The values were similar regardless of the materials engineering processes, but during the consolidation of AS, its coefficient was higher than that of the CBA materials.

Transient thermal response of five types of underwear(cotton jersey, wool jersey, nylon jersey, cotton mesh and polyester mesh) for a protective coverall is evaluated using a sweating thermal manikin. Experimental protocol for transient thermal response of the sweating thermal manikin was also proposed. As results, it was found that steady state thermal response from sweating thermal manikin was not sensitive enough to evaluate thermal comfort of the experimental garments. However, when half time is used as an index of the heat flux change in transient thermal response, difference was found among underwear materials. Half time of cotton was the shortest and heat transfer of cotton was the fastest followed by polyester mesh, cotton jersey, nylon jersey and wool jersey. Dynamic thermal response of wool underwear was quite different from that of cotton underwear. Wool shows quite less heat flow at the initial stage, however, moisture permeability of wool was higher than cotton at the later stage. It was difficult to distinguish surface temperature difference visually using thermogram taken right before the completion of dry and wet test in steady state thermal response.
As a result of the sensory test for Bechamel Sauce being prepared by varying the amount of frozen-dry mugwort, the moisture content was the highest at 83.56% in the control group and the lowest at 76.18% in the one containing 20% of mugwort. The pH level decreased significantly (p>0.001) as the addition of specimen increased. In case of color, the brightness (L) and redness (a) were highest at 81.54 and -0.85 within the control group, and the yellowness (b) was highest at 35.82 for the one containing 20% of mugwort. The viscosity was the lowest at 64.45 cp for the control group and 138.45 cp for the Bechamel Sauce containing 20% of mugwort. Reduced sugar was significantly increased (p>0.001) with the addition of specimen. The results of change in the total number of bacteria showed that there was no microorganism until the third day of storage. On the fifth day, the groups with up to 10% mugwort showed $1.6{\times}10^2$ CFU/ml microorganisms and the groups containing 15% and 20% of mugwort were free of microorganisms. All groups contained microorganisms on the seventh day of storage, but the groups with greater mugwort contents showed smaller number of microorganisms on the fifth and tenth days. Taking into acoount the DPPH free radical removal of brown sauce containing mugwort, the removal increased with greater mugwort content. In terms of preference test, the color was 3.5 for the control group without the mugwort and the taste was highest at 5.1 with 10% of mugwort. The group containing 15% of mugwort received the highest score (4.6) for the after taste and the viscosity was the lowest at 2.7 for the group containing 20% of mugwort. Overall acceptability was the highest at 5.3 for the group containing 10% of mugwort and the lowest for the group containing 20% of mugwort.
