  • This paper presents a basic data of the surface discharge characteristics of solid dielectric in various gas including $SF_6$ and environmentally friendly gas as Dry-Air and $N_2$ gas. Used electrodes are needle and plane. Used solid dielectric which is installed between the electrodes is made of epoxy resin and is disc form of 100[mm] diameter and 2, 3[mm] thickness. AC In same condition, we can obtain different surface dielectric strength. Increased pressure and thickness caused increased surface dielectric strength.

  • Slow sand filtration (SSF) was the first engineered/mechanical filtration process used in drinking water treatment. In SSF, untreated water slowly percolate through a bed of porous sand. Biological activity within the sand bed have the strongest influence on removal efficiency of pollutants by slow sand filtration. In this study, the microbial population distributions in slow sand filters operated at the various operation conditions was evaluated. The concentrations of $10^4$ to $10^5$ CFU per g dry wt. were observed. No significant differences were seen between the number of filter-covered materials. The data indicate that the temperature has affect on population distribution. Also, the light exposure was influenced on microorganism in slow sand filtration according to the heterotropic plate counts. The role of microorganism within the sand media requires further study.

  • Porous silica particles are the most prevailing raw material for stationary phases of liquid chromatography. During a long period of time, various methodologies for production of porous silica particles have been proposed, such as crashing and sieving of xerogel, traditional dry or wet process preparation of conventional spherical particles, preparation of hierarchical mesoporous particles by template-mediated pore formation, repeated formation of a thin layer of porous silica upon nonporous silica core (core-shell particles), and formation of specific silica monolith followed by grinding and calcination. Recent developments and applications of useful porous silica particles will be covered in this review. Discussion on sub-$3{\mu}m$ silica particles including nonporous silica particles, carbon or metal oxide clad silica particles, and molecularly imprinted silica particles, will also be included. Next, the individual preparation methods and their feasibilities will be collectively and critically compared and evaluated, being followed by conclusive remarks and future perspectives.

  • This study was conducted to beneficiation of magnesite by dry grinding and air classification. The raw ore was ground in a ball mill and pin mill controlled with grinding time and linear velocity of grinding media and fractionated in an air classifier. Pin mill is more efficient than the ball mill for liberation. As a result, the MgO grade of concentrate was 47.1% with recovery of 51.51% for classified with 3,000rpm of air classifier for ground at 13,000rpm in pin mill.

  • For the more effective isolation of soil actinomycetes, we have developed HHV (Hair hydrolysate-vitamin) agar medium, containing hair as the sole source of carbon and nitrogen. The HHV agar medium was superior to other media such as colloidal chintin agar, glycerol-arginine agar and starch-casein-nitrate agar, and HV (humic acid-vitamin) agar. The maximum effect of this medium has been shown in hair dry weight 0.4 g/l medium. Of each soil sample, the greatestest number of actinomycetes was isolated from the potato annual planted soil among the tested samp- les. The genus of actinomycetes isolated from the potato annual planted soil sample was identified such 5 group as Stretomyces, Micromonospora, Microbispora, Nocardia and Saccharopolyspora.

  • With the improvement of industrial society, the high quality electrical energy, simplification of operation and maintenance, ensuring reliability and safety are being required. This paper reviews a basic data of the surface discharge characteristics for teflon resin in not only pure $N_2$, $N_2:O_2$ mixture gas and Dry-Air as being focused on environmentally friendly insulating Gas also $SF_6$. Used electrodes are Knife to Knife. With the changing distance of electrodes and pressure, we can find it, surface discharge voltages and surface dielectric strengths, respectively. Surface discharge Voltages of $N_2:O_2=80:20$ mixture gas are more higher than the $N_2:O_2$ Mixture gases.

  • Biofiltration of polluted gas streams contained $H_2S$ was studied. The experiments were performed in a laboratory-scale reactor with a porous ceramic media inoculated with sulfur oxidizing bacterium, TAS which was isolated from activiated sludge. The concentration of $H_2S$ in the inlet gas varied from 109 to 3,841 ppm, at the various space velocities(SV) of 50 $h^{-1}$ to 250 $h^{-1}$. Various tests have been conducted to evaluate the effects of such parameters as pH, concentration of sulfate ion and retention time on the pressure drop and maximum elimination capacity. The removal efficiency of $H_2S$ decreased as the $H_2S$ concentration or gas velocity increased in the inlet gas. Pressure drop was insignificant in this system. The maximum elimination capacity could reach up to 16.35g-S/kg-dry packing material/day.

  • A series of 5-indolylpyrimido[4,5-d]pyrimidinones (4a-h) were obtained by multi-component reaction of 3-formylindole (1), thiobarbituric acid/barbituric acid (2) and thiourea/urea (3) under microwave irradiation in dry media. Secondly, grinding together neat reactants also gave the titled compounds in good yields. All the synthesized compounds have been characterized on the basis of elemental analyses and spectral data (IR, $^1H$ NMR and Mass). Representative compounds were also evaluated for their antimicrobial activity against Rhizopus stolonifer, Fusarium oxysporum, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa at different concentrations. Some of the compounds showed promising activity.

  • The a.c. technique is employed to evaluate electrochemical characteristics of Naphthalie-1,4,5,8-tetracarboxylic acid bisanilide (NTB). The measurements were carried out in dry and pure propionitrle (PCN) and acetonitrile(CAN) at the hanging mercury drop electrode [HMDE). An A.C. phase sensitive detector using computer controlled lock-in amplifier was employed. Primary goal of this report, was to establish on a firm the rare behavior of the phase angle associated with a.c. polarograms of the compound. Although, not an initial goal of this study, the electron transfer rate parameters attending the electroreduction of the compound under investigation were determined. This because the results shed some light on the electrokinetics in aprotic solvent which until recently negligible data were available. Experimental Results and comparison of data obtained are reported. The good precision of the method makes it suitable for studying electrochemical data with unusual behavior at electrodes in non aqueous media.

  • A new and efficient synthesis of the novel bioactive bis(benzopyrano) fused dihydropyridines is described. The conventionally developed route is a two step multicomponent condensation reaction. This is latter modified by a one pot microwave (MW) assisted reaction using inorganic solid support via the arylidene derivative intermediate. With this environmentally benign approach, the reaction time is brought down from hours to minutes along with a yield enhancement. Furthermore, the role of different solid supports is studied and it is concluded that the acidic alumina is the best solid support for the present investigation.
