Stencil cutting process by Nd:YAG laser II -Influence of process parameters on cutting characteristics of stencil- (Nd:YAG레이저를 이용한 스텐실 절단공정II -레이저의 공정변수가 스텐실 절단특성에 미치는 영향-)

  • This study deals with the laser cutting of stencil for the PCB. The most important aim of this study is to determine optimal conditions which make good-qualify stencil in Nd:YAG laser cutting. We made an experiment according to various variables (power. type of mask. gas pressure, cutting speed, and pulse width) and analyzed the cutting characteristics (surface roughness, kerf width. dross) . Each variable has optimal value for good-qualify cut edge under fixed condition. And neural network after learning experimental data with a million time iteration could predict surface roughness of cut edge under arbitrary condition approximately.

A study on the plasma arc cutting phenomena of plate materials (플라즈마 아크를 이용한 판재료의 절단현상에 관한 연구)

  • The Plasma Arc Cutting Method using high density and hight temperature beam is well applicable to the cutting of the nonferrous metal (Al alloy ) and stainless steel which are unable to be cut by the use of the oxy-fuel gas. This study focalizes on the cutting phenomena of the plate of (mm) thickness, since the cutting phenomena of thick plates have been rather thoroughly studied. In this study the cutting groove, adhesive phenomena of dross, surface roughness were measured according to the variation of cutting speed and compared with the case of mild steel plates. The result showed that the kerf width variation of Al alloy was similar to the case of mild steel, while that of the stainless steel differed from the mild steel. In the adhesive phenomena of dross, 6(mm) thick plates of Al alloy showed a difference from those of thick plates, but the stainless steel was similar to thick plates. The surface roughness variation of Al alloy wias minimum at 67 cm/min, while that of stainless steel was at 30cm/min.

  • In developing an optimum steelmaking process, the purity of the product, environmental impact, capability and cost of the process should be considered. Desulfurization of molten iron is conducted during preliminary treatment stage before converter operation. Although fluorite is added as a desulfurizing agent in CaO and $CaCO_3$ based agents, the concentration of fluorine in slag is strictly regulated. In order to develop desulfurizing agent without fluorine, CaO was mixed with Al dross and ladle slag containing alumina. The characteristics and desulfurizing capacity of the CaO based desulfurizing agent thus prepared were tested by varying temperature of Kanvara Reactor. Our results showed that the desulfurizing capacity of the samples prepared in this work was found to be similar to that of the traditional desulfurizing agents with fluorine.

Concentration and separation of nickel from copper alloy dross using chelating regin (킬레이트 수지를 이용한 구리 합금 부산물에서의 니켈의 농축 및 분리)

  • Separation/recovery of valuable metals such as nickel or tin from copper based alloys has recently attracted from the viewpoints of environmental protection and resource recycling. In this report, preliminary study on concentration and separation of nickel from copper based alloy dross using selective adsorption by chelate resin was performed. The chelate resin used in this study has absorbed copper ions more easily than nickel ions in the metal solution, which could allow the concentration/separation of the nickel from the copper base alloy solution. The final molar ratios of Ni and Cu ions in the two concentrated solutions were 70 and 99 % respectively after three-time flowing the solution through the chelate resin column.

Characteristics of Sn-1.7Bi-0.7Cu-0.6In Lead-free Solder (Sn-1.7Bi-0.7Cu-0.6In 솔더의 특성 연구)

  • Characteristics of Sn-1.7%Bi-0.7%Cu-0.6%In (hereafter, SBIC) lead-free solder was investigated in this study. The results from SBIC were compared to other lead-free solders such as Sn-3.5%Ag-0.7%Cu (hereafter, SAC), Sn-0.7%Cu (hereafter, SC), and lead-bearing Sn-37%Pb (hereafter, SP) alloy. Tensile properties of bulk solder, wettability, spreading index, bridge and dross were evaluated. As experimental results, tensile strength and elongation of SBIC was 62.5MPa and 21.5%, respectively. The tensile strength was comparable to that of SP solder. The wetting time of SBIC was 1.2 sec at $250^{\circ}C$, and its wetting properties including wetting force were as good as the SAC alloy. However, wettability of the SC was not so good as the SBIC and SAC. The spreading index of SBIC at $250^{\circ}C$ was 71 %, and it was similar level to those of SAC and SC solders. Bridging was not found for all solders of SBIC, SAC and SC in the range from 240 to $260^{\circ}C$. In dross test at $250^{\circ}C$ for an hour, the amount of dross produced from SBIC was about 57% compared to that from SAC.

Selective Adsorption of Si(IV) onto Hydrotalcite from Alkali Leaching Solution of Black Dross (블랙드로스 알칼리 침출용액으로부터 hydrotalcite에 의한 규소(IV)의 선택적 흡착)

  • In order to recover pure alumina from black dross, leaching of mechanically activated black dross with NaOH solution resulted in an aluminate solution containing a small amount of Si(IV). Selective adsorption of Si(IV) onto hydrotalcite was investigated from 5 M NaOH solution where the concentration of Al(III) and Si(IV) was 13000 and 150 mg/L, respectively. Only Si(IV) was selectively loaded onto hydrotalcite, while Al(III) remained in the solution. Effect of the calcination treatment of hydrotalcite and concentration of calcined hydrotalcite and NaOH on the loading of Si(IV) was investigated. Although the loading percentage of Si(IV) was low from 5 M NaOH solution, most of the Si(IV) was removed by adjusting the concentration of NaOH by 48 times dilution with water when the concentration of calcined hydrotalcite was higher than 4.5 g/L. The loading of Si(IV) onto calcined hydrotalcite followed Freundlich adsorption isotherm.
