$CO_2$박판 고속용접에서 용접현상 분석과 전류상승기울기의 영향 (Analysis of Welding Phenomena and Effect of Short Circuit Current Rise Slope in the High Speed $CO_2$ Welding of Steel Sheets)

  • In high speed $CO_2$ welding, it has been blown to produce no sound bead with undercut or humping bead. In this study welding phenomena through synchronized high speed camera and output welding voltage and current waveform has been analyzed. For the purpose to improve a welding bead, effect of short circuit current rise slope has been examined. With commercial power source it was produced no sound bead by instantaneous short circuit, long arc period and stubbing at welding speed 2.5mm/min Humping bead or undercut were showed by instantaneous short circuit and long arc period. Also, the weld bead was not formed during the long short circuit period after stubbing start and long arc extinguishment period after wire sticking by failure of arc regeneration, because the droplet was not transferred to weld pool. With increasing short circuit current rise slope the frequency of stubbing was decreased and the normal short circuit rate was increased. A control of short circuit current rise slope was effective factor in high speed welding.

  • The use of Zn coated steel has increased in the automotive industry due to its excellent corrosion resistance. Conventionally the BIW(body-in-white) structure and the hang-on parts have been made of Zn coated steel and more recently Zn coated steel began to be applied in the chassis parts. During gas metal arc (GMA) welding of the chassis part, lap fillet joint used to be adopted but spatter generation and porosities are most important concerns. In the industrial applications, an intentional joint gap was made to avoid the weld defects but it is not easy to control the size of joint gap. In this research, gas tungsten arc (GTA) is combined with GMA welding where GTA precedes GMA. As pulsed arc was adopted as GMA, GTA was oscillated along the longitudinal direction by pulsing GMA, but the arc oscillation did not disturb the molten droplet transfer of GMA welding. By increasing the distance between GTA and GMA, the length of weld pool increased and porosity could be reduced. Moreover porosity in the welds was fully removed when the distance between two arcs was 15 mm.

  • FLECHT-SEASET 실험에 대한 REIAP5/MOD3 평가시에 밝혀진 코드결함을 수정하기 위하여 RELAP5/MOD3 재관수 모델을 개선하였다. 모델개선은 재관수 열전달 모델의 수정과 분산유동영역의 액적 크기의 조절을 통하여 이루어졌으며 재관수 계산시 발생되는 압력 spike와 수위진동 등의 결함을 개선하기 위하여 벽면비등모델의 time-smoothing과 천이 유동시의 level tracking모델도 첨가되었다. FLECHT-SEASET 실험에 대한 개선모델의 검증과 발전소의 대형냉각재 상실 사고해석 응용에서 코드결함이 개선되었음을 알 수 있었다.

  • The researches of a two-phase atomizers have been carried out in the field of automotive and aerospace industries in order to improve the atomization performance of the liquid droplets ejecting from these nozzles. The smaller droplets have the advantages of the reduction of environmental pollution matter and effective use of energy through the improvement of heat and mass transfer efficiency. Thus, to propose the basic information of two-phase flow, an internal mixing atomizer was designed, its shape factor was 0.6 and the liquid feeding hole was positioned at the center of the mixing tube which was used to mix the air and liquid. The experimental work was performed in the field after the nozzle exit orifice. The measurement of the liquid droplets was made by PDPA system. This system can measure the velocity and size of the droplets simultaneously. The number of the droplets used in this calculation was set to 10,000. The flow patterns were regulated by ALR (Air to Liquid mass Ratio). ALR was varied from 0.1024 to 0.3238 depending on the mass flow rate of the air. The analysis of sampling data was mainly focused on the spray characteristics such as flow characteristics distributions, half-width of spray, RMS, and turbulent kinetic energy with ALR.

2차원 에어포일의 유리얼음 형상 예측 코드 개발 (Prediction of Glaze Ice Accretion on 2D Airfoil)

  • 날개위에 쌓인 얼음은 날개의 공기역학적 성능을 저하시키고 항공기 사고를 야기하는 주요한 원인이 된다. 결빙된 날개의 형상 예측 연구는 얼음으로 변형된 날개의 공기역학적 성능 파악과 제빙 방빙 장치 설계에 선행 되어야 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 2차원 익형에 발생하는 유리얼음 형상을 예측할 수 있는 코드를 개발하였다. 계산의 효율성을 위해 익형 주위의 유동장 계산은 정상 용출 및 중첩 패널기법을 사용하였고 날개표면과 날개에 유입된 물의 열전달은 Messinger 모델을 통해 고려하였다. 본 코드의 해석 결과는 실험 및 LEWICE 등 기존 해석 프로그램과 상호 검증되었다. 결빙형상의 주요한 요소인 얼음 뿔의 진행 방향 및 얼음 두께는 실험 및 타 프로그램과 유사한 결과를 나타내었다. 또한 대기온도, 수증기 함량, 입자 반지름, 자유류 등이 착빙 형상에 미치는 영향을 체계적으로 분석하였다.

분무성형공정에서의 빌렛형상 모델링 (Modeling of Billet Shape in Spray Forming Process)

  • A numerical method is presented to predict and analyze the shape of a growing billet produced from the "spray forming process" which is a fairly new near-net shape manufacturing process. It is important to understand the mechanism of billet growing because one can obtain a billet with the desired final shape without secondary operations by accurate control of the billet shape, and it can also serve as a base for heat transfer and deformation analysis. The shape of a growing billet is determined by the flow rate of the alloy melt, the mode of nozzle scanning which is due to cam profile, the initial positio of the spray nozzle, scanning angle, and the withdrawal speed of the substrate. In the present study, a theoretical model is first established to predict the shape of the billet and next the effects of the most dominent processing conditions, such as withdrawal speed of the substrate and the cam profile, on the shape of the growing billet are studied. Process conditions are obtained to produce a billet with uniform diameter and flat top surface, and an ASP30 high speed steel billet is manufactured using the same process conditions established from the simulation.imulation.

IODINE REMOVAL EFFICIENCY IN NON-SUBMERGED AND SUBMERGED SELF-PRIMING VENTURI SCRUBBER

  • The objective of this conducted research is to study the iodine removal efficiency in a self-priming venturi scrubber for submerged and non-submerged operating conditions experimentally and theoretically. The alkaline solution is used as an absorbent, which is prepared by dissolving sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium thiosulphate ($Na2S_2O_3$) in water to remove the gaseous iodine ($I_2$) from the gas. Iodine removal efficiency is examined at various gas flow rates and inlet concentrations of iodine for submerged and non-submerged operating conditions. In the non-submerged venturi scrubber, only the droplets take part in iodine removal efficiency. However, in a submerged venturi scrubber condition, the iodine gas is absorbed from gas to droplets inside the venturi scrubber and from bubbles to surrounding liquid at the outlet of a venturi scrubber. Experimentally, it is observed that the iodine removal efficiency is greater in the submerged venturi scrubber as compare to a non-submerged venturi scrubber condition. The highest iodine removal efficiency of $0.99{\pm}0.001$ has been achieved in a submerged self-priming venturi scrubber condition. A mathematical correlation is used to predict the theoretical iodine removal efficiency in submerged and non-submerged conditions, and it is compared against the experimental results. The Wilkinson et al. correlation is used to predict the bubble diameter theoretically whereas the Nukiyama and Tanasawa correlation is used for droplet diameter. The mass transfer coefficient for the gas phase is calculated from the Steinberger and Treybal correlation. The calculated results for a submerged venturi scrubber agree well with experimental results but underpredicts in the case of the non-submerged venturi scrubber.

  • 벨 디스크(Bell disc, 오토마이저 Atomizer)를 사용한 회전식 도장기술은 뛰어난 도료 전달효율, 도장 패턴 및 입자크기의 균일성, 스프레이 건 방식에 비해 적은 압축공기 사용량 등의 장점이 있다. 또한 회전식 분무기는 모든 페인트 재료에 적용할 수 있고 자동차 연속도장 같은 대규모 도장이 필요한 환경에 적합하다. 도장기기의 성능과 밀접하게 관계된 도장품질은 벨 디스크 표면설계에 따른 액적 크기와 균일성에 의해 결정된다. 따라서 이번 연구는 도료의 점성, 밀도, 표면친화도 등의 염료 특성이 고려된 작동하는 벨 디스크의 회전수, 직경, 표면의 각도, 무화시의 박막두께에 대한 모델링을 시행하여 표면설계 방법의 기초를 수립하였다.

냉각제의 분사조건 및 상변화가 혼합가스 사출시스템의 성능에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Heat Transfer and Phase Change of Coolant on the Performance of Mixed-gas Ejection System)

  • 냉각제 분사조건이 변화할 때 혼합가스 사출시스템 (또는 가스-스팀 발사체계) 냉각효율 및 발사체 사출성능의 변화를 확인하기 위해 3차원 수치모사를 수행하였다. 선행연구를 참조하여 구축한 1차원 모델을 통해 3차원 단상(single-phase) 계산모델을 검증한 후, Discrete Phase Model을 활용하여 고온의 기체에 냉각제 분사를 모사한 이상(two-phase) 유동 계산을 수행하였다. 냉각제 유량과 분사구 개수를 각각 변화시키면서 계산을 수행한 결과, 분사구 개수를 증가시켰을 경우 냉각효율이 보다 개선되었다. 또한 분사조건에 따라 냉각제 액적 서로간의 coalescence 발생 빈도 및 공간분포 변화가 발생하여 액적의 직경이 달라졌고, 이는 냉각제 증발률에 영향을 미쳤다. 냉각제의 증발은 breech 내부의 온도를 감소시키는 반면에 압력감소를 억제하여 사출시스템 최적화 설계에 있어 중요한 요소임을 확인하였다.

Analysis of epididymal sperm from Korean native bull (Hanwoo) aged at 8 and 15 months before freezing and after thawing

  • The recovery of epididymal sperm in animals is considered as one of the important tools to preserve high value or endangered species. However, there are no appropriate castrating indicators such as months of age in bull, sperm morphology, and motility, particularly in young Korean native bull (Hanwoo). Therefore, this study aimed to investigate sperm number, morphology, and motility of sperm in the epididymis tail of young Hanwoo bulls at 8 and 15 months of age. After castration, epididymal tails were collected and minced with blades to recover sperm. In experiments 1 and 2, sperm number, morphology, and motility were examined. Total number of sperm and percentage of normal sperm from bulls at 8 months of age was lower than that of bulls at 15 months of age after collection (P<0.05). Percentage of abnormal head, tail, proximal cytoplasmic droplet, dead and damaged acrosome of sperm from bulls at 8 months of age were higher than those of bulls at 15 months of age (P<0.05). In experiment 3, sperm motility from bulls at 8 and 15 months of age were examined before freezing and after thawing. Frozen-thawed sperm at 8 months of age showed low total motility and motile sperm with ${\geq}25{\mu}m/sec$ compared to those at 15 months of age and commercially-used sperm (P<0.05). In conclusion, sperm derived from the epididymal tail of bulls at 8 months of age showed high abnormal morphology and poor motility, which are not adequate for AI and IVF. On the other hand, sperm derived from the epididymal tail of bulls at 15 months of age showed high normal morphology and motility.
