RCM을 이용한 디젤 분무거동 및 자발화 특성에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study on Diesel Spray Dynamics and Auto-Ignition Characteristics in the Rapid Compression Machine)

  • The low-emission and high-performance diesel combustion is an important issue in the combustion research community. In order to understand the detailed diesel flame field involving the complex Physical Processes, It Is quite desirable to study diesel spray dynamics, auto-ignition and spray flame propagation. Dynamics of fuel spray is a crucial element for air-fuel mixture formation flame stabilization and pollutant formation. In the present study, the diesel RCM (Rapid Compression Machine) and the Electric Control injection system have been designed and developed to investigate the effects of injection Pressure, injection timing, and intake air temperature on spray dynamics and diesel combustion processes. In terms of the macroscopic spray combustion characteristics it is observed that the fuel jet atomization and the droplet breakup processes become much faster by increasing the injection pressure and the spray angle. With increasing the cylinder pressure there is a tendency that the shape of spray pattern in the downstream region tends to be spherical due to the increase of air density and the corresponding drag force. Effects of intake temperature and injection pressure on auto-ignition is experimently analysed and discussed in detail.

초음파 가진을 이용한 2-유체 노즐의 효율 향상 (Improvement of the Efficiency of a Twin-fluid Nozzle using Ultrasonic Vibration)

  • Characteristics of a twin-fluid spray with ultrasonic vibration were examined in order to obtain a high efficiency of cold-fog spray of the automatic pest control machine which has been widely used in protected horticulture recently. An electrostrictive vibrator of PZT BLT and a magnetostrictive $\pi$-type vibrator were used applied as the ultrasonic transducers with a frequency of 28 kHz. All experiments were conducted in 4 methods of spray ; a conventional spray method without ultrasonic forcing, an indirect vibration method with ultrasonic forcing, an improving-quality method by ultrasonic forced within liquid, and a combined-use method with both of the indirect vibration method and the improving quality method. It was found that the ultrasonic energy increased the atomization efficiency of spray droplets about 10% and especially much more in the case of the combined-use method.

고온가스로용 핵연료 중간화합물 제조에 대한 연구 (Study on an Intermediate Compound Preparation for a HTGR Nuclear Fuel)

  • In this study the preparation method of the spherical ADU droplets, intermediate compound of a HTGR nuclear fuel, was detailed-reviewed and then, the characteristics on an ageing and a washing steps among the wet process and the thermal treatment process on the died-ADU${\rightarrow}UO_3$ conversion with the high temperature furnaces were studied. The key parameters for spherical droplets forming are a precise control of feed rate and a suitable viscosity value selection of a broth solution. Also, a harmony of vibrating frequency and amplitude of a vibration dropping system are important factor. In our case, an uranium concentration is $0.5{\sim}0.7mol/l$, viscosity is $50{\sim}80$ centi-Poise, vibration frequency is about 100Hz. In thermal treatment for no crack spherical $UO_3$ particle, the heating rate in the calcination must be operated below $2^{\circ}C$/min, in air atmosphere.

FOG SYSTEM 을 이용한 여름철 온실냉방 (Greenhouse Cooling by Fog System)

  • This study was performed to improve underirable warm greenhouse environment by fog cooling system in summer season. The resultsof droplet size analysis and cooling effects for fog cooling system are summarized as follows ; 1. At the pump pressure of 70kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ , the mean (SMD) drop size was 22.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and the maximum and minimum drop size was 45.68${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 1.73${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ , respectively, and almost all of the drop size was less than 40${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. 2. The temperature of fog cooling greenhouse with 60% shading was dropped more than 2$^{\circ}C$ below the ambient temperature , while the greenhouse temperature without shading was 1$^{\circ}C$ higher than the ambient temperature. 3. It was found that fog spraying intervals were significantly influential on cooling effect. 4. When the greenhouse was ventilated sufficiently by natural vent system, green house temperature could be maintained by 2.5$^{\circ}C$ lower than the ambient temperature, while it was difficult to drop the greenhouse temperature below ambient temeperature without sufficient ventilation. 5. It was found that the temperature of experimental greenhouse could be maintained 3$^{\circ}C$ to 14$^{\circ}C$ lower that of control greenhouse though there were variations depending on experimental and weather conditions.

Synthesis of Ni-Ag Core-shell Nanoparticles by Polyol process and Microemulsion Process

  • Ni-Ag core-shell nanoparticles were synthesized by polyol process and microemulsion technique successfully. In the polyol process, a chemical reduction method for preparing highly dispersed pure nickel and Ag shell formation have been reported. The approach involved the control of reaction temperature and reaction time in presence of organic solvent (ethylene glycol) as a reducing agent for Ag cation with poly(vinyl-pyrrolidone) (PVP. Mw = 40000) as a capping agent. In microemulsion method, the emulsion was prepared by water/cetyltrimetylammonium bromide (CTAB)/cyclohexane. The size of microemulsion droplet was determined by the molar ratio of water to surfactant (${\omega}_o$). The core-shell formation along with the change in structural phase and stability against oxidation at high temperature heat treatments of nanoparticles were investigated by X-ray diffraction and TEM analysis. Under optimum conditions the polyol process gives the Ni-Ag core-shell structures with 13 nm Ni core covered with 3 nm Ag shell, while the microemulsion method gives Ni core diameter of 8 nm with Ag shell of thickness 6 nm. The synthesized Ni-Ag core-shell nanoparticles were stable against oxidation up to $300^{\circ}C$.

  • 하이브리드 로켓에서의 고체 연료의 연소 현상을 가시화하기 위하여 장치를 제작하였다. 가시화 장치는 평판 하이브리드 연소기 시스템, 점화 시스템, 산화제 공급 시스템, 데이터 획득 및 제어 시스템, 연소 가시화 측정 장비로 구성되었다. GOX 산화제와 HDPE, Paraffin-LDPE Blending, Paraffin 연료를 이용하여 연소 가시화 시험을 수행하였고, 수치적으로만 연구되어 왔던 연소실 내의 연소 현상을 가시화 할 수 있었으며, 화염의 형성 및 용융성 연료의 액적 비산 현상을 관찰 할 수 있었다.

HCCI 디젤엔진의 배기특성에 미치는 예혼합 연료의 영향 (Effect of Premixed Fuels Charge on Exhaust Emission Characteristics of HCCI Diesel Engine)

  • In order to investigate the effect of premixed gasoline, diesel fuel, and n-heptane charges on the combustion and exhaust emission characteristics in a direct injection (DI) diesel engine, the experimental studies are performed. The premixed fuels are injected into the premixing chamber that installed upstream of the intake port in order to minimize the inhomogeneity effect of premixed charge. The injection nozzle for directly injected fuel is equipped in the center of the combustion chamber. The air temperature control system is equipped in the intake manifold to examine the effect of air temperature. The experimental results of this study show premixing fuel is effective method to reduce the NOx and soot emissions of diesel engine. NOx emissions are linearly decreased with increasing premixed ratio for the three kinds of premixed fuels. The heating of intake air $(80^{\circ}C)$ reduced the deterioration of BSFC in high premixed ratio, because it promotes evaporation of premixed diesel droplet in the premixing chamber.

에멀젼연료 거동특성에 관한 실험 및 수치해석 연구 (Study of Experimental and Numerical Analysis on Behavior Characteristics of Emulsified Fuel)

  • Diesel engines with compression-ignition type have superior thermal efficiency, durability and reliability compared to gasoline engine. To control emitted gas from the engines, it can be applied to alternative fuel without any modification to the engine. Therefore, in this study, as a basic study for applying emulsified fuel to the actual diesel engine, analysis of spray behavior characteristics of emulsified fuel was carried out simultaneously by experimental and numerical method. The emulsified fuel consist of diesel, hydrogen peroxide, and surfactant. The surfactant for manufacturing emulsified fuel is comprised of span 80 and tween 80 mixed as 9:1 and fixed with 3% of the total volume of the emulsified fuel. In addition, six kinds of emulsified fuel(EF0, EF2, EF12, EF22, EF32, and EF42) were manufactured according to the mixing ratio of hydrogen peroxide. The droplet and spray experiments were performed to observe the behavior characteristics of the emulsified fuel. The numerical analysis was carried out using ANSYS CFX to confirm the microscopic behavior characteristics. Consequently, rapid mixture formation can be expected due to evaporation of hydrogen peroxide in emulsified fuel, and it is confirmed that Reitz&Diwakar breakup model is most suitable as breakup model to be applied to the numerical analysis.

$CO_2$박판 고속용접에서 용접현상 분석과 전류상승기울기의 영향 (Analysis of Welding Phenomena and Effect of Short Circuit Current Rise Slope in the High Speed $CO_2$ Welding of Steel Sheets)

  • In high speed $CO_2$ welding, it has been blown to produce no sound bead with undercut or humping bead. In this study welding phenomena through synchronized high speed camera and output welding voltage and current waveform has been analyzed. For the purpose to improve a welding bead, effect of short circuit current rise slope has been examined. With commercial power source it was produced no sound bead by instantaneous short circuit, long arc period and stubbing at welding speed 2.5mm/min Humping bead or undercut were showed by instantaneous short circuit and long arc period. Also, the weld bead was not formed during the long short circuit period after stubbing start and long arc extinguishment period after wire sticking by failure of arc regeneration, because the droplet was not transferred to weld pool. With increasing short circuit current rise slope the frequency of stubbing was decreased and the normal short circuit rate was increased. A control of short circuit current rise slope was effective factor in high speed welding.

  • The use of Zn coated steel has increased in the automotive industry due to its excellent corrosion resistance. Conventionally the BIW(body-in-white) structure and the hang-on parts have been made of Zn coated steel and more recently Zn coated steel began to be applied in the chassis parts. During gas metal arc (GMA) welding of the chassis part, lap fillet joint used to be adopted but spatter generation and porosities are most important concerns. In the industrial applications, an intentional joint gap was made to avoid the weld defects but it is not easy to control the size of joint gap. In this research, gas tungsten arc (GTA) is combined with GMA welding where GTA precedes GMA. As pulsed arc was adopted as GMA, GTA was oscillated along the longitudinal direction by pulsing GMA, but the arc oscillation did not disturb the molten droplet transfer of GMA welding. By increasing the distance between GTA and GMA, the length of weld pool increased and porosity could be reduced. Moreover porosity in the welds was fully removed when the distance between two arcs was 15 mm.
