  • The drone delivery service as a new important business is emerging worldwide. American DHL parcel service is already running the delivery business using drones, and the Google, Amazon, and china's Alibaba, Baidu are also preparing for the same business. However, there are some problems in security and safety since the heavy parcels flies over the people walking down streets, so many things must be considered. The problems can be solved by communicating among drones to avoid collision. Therefore, the efficient network performance is essential, and to resolve the problem, in this paper, an efficient routing protocol is suggested by the Opnet simulator. The drone intercommunication network of MANET is designed and simulated for the efficient routing protocol.

  • The various technologies related to the monitoring human health in real-time for the emergency situations are developing these days. Mostly the human pulse is used for measuring as the vital signs so far, but the EEG became a major research trend now. However, there are some problems measuring and sending EEG signals of all the people walking down the street to the dedicated server. Especially, there are some restrictions for collecting and sending EEG signals in 2-dimensional space in real-time. Therefore, I suggests an efficient network model using 3-dimensional space of drones to avoid the restrictions. The models are designed, simulated, and evaluated with the Opnet simulator.

  • Since year 2016, in Korea, the police department started to use drones to patrol violated vehicles on the highway area. They monitor vehicle drivers who use side ways on the highway during traffic congested hours of the season, drunken drivers, or violent drivers. They use the 'Spot Mobility' method which floats the drones for 30 minute period. However, this method is inefficient since it requires manually charging batteries, gathering data, and operate drones with many numbers of policeman. Therefore, in this paper, for the efficient patrol in this purpose, I have suggested an effectively manageable network system consists of many drones as the wireless network nodes and with small numbers of policeman in a wide highway area. To accomplish this, the two topologies of effective drone patrol network systems are designed and simulated in OPNET simulator for performance evaluation.

  • This study proposes a system for take-off in a forest or similar complex environment using an object detector. In the simulator, a raspberry pi is mounted on a quadcopter with a length of 550mm between motors on a diagonal line, and the experiment is conducted based on edge computing. As for the images to be used for learning, about 150 images of 640⁎480 size were obtained by selecting three points inside Kunsan University, and then converting them to black and white, and pre-processing the binarization by placing a boundary value of 127. After that, we trained the SSD_Inception model. In the simulation, as a result of the experiment of taking off the drone through the model trained with the verification image as an input, a trajectory similar to the takeoff was drawn using the label.

  • This paper has designed a current mode class D power amplifier to increase the transmission efficiency of a 6.78 MHz wireless power transfer (WPT) transmitter and to ensure stable characteristics even when the transmitting and receiving coil intervals change. By reducing the loss due to the parasitic capacitor component of the transistor, which limits the theoretical efficiency of the linear amplifier, this research has improved the efficiency of the power amplifier. The circuit design simulator was used to design the high efficiency amplifier, and the power output and efficiency characteristics according to the load impedance change have been simulated and verified. In the simulation, 42.1 dBm output and 95% efficiency was designed at DC bias 30 V. The power amplifier was fabricated and showed 91% efficiency at the output of 42.1 dBm (16 W). The transmitting and receiving coils were fabricated for wireless power transfer of the drone, and the maximum power added efficiency was 88% and the output power was $42.1dBm{\pm}1.7dB$ according to the load change causing from the coil intervals.

  • Researchers are now faced with a limited flight time of the hoverable UAV due to the sluggish technological advances of the Li-Po energy density and try to find a bypassing solution for the fully autonomous hoverable UAV mission planning. Although there are several candidate solutions, automated wireless charging is the most likely and realistic candidate and we are focusing on the autolanding strategy of the hoverable UAV in this paper since it is the main technology of it. We developed a hoverable UAV flight simulator including Li-Po battery pack simulator using MATLAB/Simulink and UAV flight and battery states are analyzed. The maximum motor power measured as 1,647 W occurs during the takeoff and cell voltage decreases down to 3.39 V during the procedure. It proves that the two Li-Po battery packs having 22 Ah and connected in series forming 12S1P are appropriate for the autolanding mission planning.
