Drones are controlled by the remote pilot from the ground stations using the radio control or autonomously following the pre-programmed flight plans. In this paper, we develop a method and an optimal path search system for providing 3D augmented reality flight (ARF) images for safe and efficient flight control of drones. The developed system consisted of the drone, the ground station and user terminals, and the optimal path search server. We use the Dijkstra algorithm to find the optimal path considering the drone information, flight information, environmental information, and flight mission. We generate a 3D augmented reality flight (ARF) image overlaid with the path information as well as the drone information and the flight information on the flight image received from the drone. The ARF image for adjusting the drone is generated by overlaying route information, drone information, flight information, and the like on the image captured by the drone.

Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) controls as a type of unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) is growing rapidly and its flight controller stick disposition is required standardization. We should standardize RPA drone flight control disposition because the flight pilot of RPA is hard to be trained so the flight controller stick differences impairs safety and wastes time and effort of flight controller industry. So this study researches the on-going standardization of RPA drone flight control disposition in Korea and foreign countries. Also this paper analyzes and researches of expert about RPA drone flight controller function and application of flight control mode. I accomplished expert research about standardization plan of unmanned flight control mode and confirm the necessity. Nowadays mode1 and 2 are mostly used in Korea so I carried out preference investigation for two modes. There were 4 preferences choices of RPA drone control mode necessity (importance) and recommendation of standardization modes. They answered that necessity of standardization is important considering pilot training, flight safety and positive development of drone industry. The result of standardization mode preference is that they prefer mode 2 (drone maker 86%, training facilities and research facilities 58%, government bureau 60%). Overall preference result shows that mode 1 24%, mode 1&2 16%, mode 2 60%. So they preferred mode 2 by 60%. The differences between two modes are the direction of throttle and pitch. Direction of throttle and pitch operate opposite way. They prefer mode 2 because mode 2 has similarities of manned flight control mode. Significance of this study is that it showed the necessity of standardization and flight control preference in a quantitative way. It will help drone standardization in related industries and development direction near future.

In this paper, we present novel simulation contents for drone racing and autonomous flight of drone. With Depth camera and SLAM, we conducted mapping 3 dimensional environment through RTAB-map. The 3 dimensional map is represented by point cloud data. After that we recovered this data in Unreal Engine. This recovered raw data reflects real data that includes noise and outlier. Also we built drone racing contents like gate and obstacles for evaluating drone flight in Unreal Engine. Then we implemented both HITL and SITL by using AirSim which offers flight controller and ROS api. Finally we show autonomous flight of drone with ROS and AirSim. Drone can fly in real place and sensor property so drone experiences real flight even in the simulation world. Our simulation framework increases practicality than other common simulation that ignore real environment and sensor.
The current drone flight plan creation creates a flight path point of two-dimensional coordinates on the map and sets an arbitrary altitude value considering the altitude of the terrain and the possible flight altitude. If the created flight path is a simple terrain such as a mountain or field, or if the user is familiar with the terrain, setting the flight altitude will not be difficult. However, for drone flight in a city where buildings are dense, a safer and more precise flight path generation method is needed. In this study, using high-precision spatial information, we construct a drone safety flight map with a 3D grid map structure and propose a flight path search algorithm based on it. The safety of the flight path is checked through the virtual drone flight simulation extracted by searching for the flight path based on the 3D grid map created by setting weights on the properties of obstacles and terrain such as buildings.
Currently, many companies have succeeded in logistics delivery experiments utilizing drone and report it. When a drone is used commercially, long-term flight is an important performance that a drone should have. However, unlike vehicles operated on the ground, drone is a vehicle that continues to consume energy when maintaining the current altitude or moving to the destination. Therefore, the drones can fly for a long time as the capacity of the battery is large, but the batteries with large capacity are restricted by heavy weight and it acts as a limiting factor in a commercial use. To address this issue, we attempt to compare how far we can fly than forward flight based on the flight pattern with the same energy consumption condition. In this paper, the comparison of energy consumption was performed in three flight pattern, forward flight without altitude change and forward flight with altitude change, by computer simulation and it shows the increasing of flight distances when the quadrotor fly with altitude change from high altitude to low altitude.
This paper describes development of automatic flight control system for an unmanned target drone which is operated by Korean army as for anti-air gun shooting training. Current target drone is operated by pilot control of on-board servo motor via remote control system. Automatic flight control system for the target drone greatly reduces work load of ground pilot and can increase application area of the drone. Most UAVs being operated now days use high-priced sensors as AHRS and IMU to measure the attitude, but those are costly. This paper introduces the development of low-cost automatic flight control system with low-cost sensors. The integrated automatic flight control system has been developed by integrating combining power module, switching module, monitoring module and RC receiver as an one module. The performance of automatic flight control system is verified by flight test.

Drone related research has been increasing recently due to the development and distribution of commercial unmanned aerial vehicles. However, most of the previous studies focused on the accuracy and utility of drone surveying. For drones, the resolution of the result is determined according to the flight altitude, but since 70% of Korea is mountainous, it is necessary to analyze the quality of the drone image according to the flight plan. In this study, the quality of drone photogrammetry results according to flight plans was analyzed. The flight plan was established by fixed altitude and considering the height of the terrain. Images were acquired for both cases and data was processed to generate ortho images. As a result of evaluating the accuracy of the generated ortho image, the accuracy was found to be -0.07 ~ 0.09m. The accuracy of Case I and Case II did not show a significant difference, but for RMSE, Case I showed a good value. These results indicate that the drone flight plan affects the quality of the results. Also, when flying at a fixed altitude, II showed a lower value than the originally set overlap according to the altitude of the object. In future surveys using drones, flight planning taking into account the height of the object will contribute to the improvement of the quality of the results.

Drones are now widely used in civilian applications such as filming, leisure, agricultural control, monitoring, and the generation of 3D-spatial information, deviating only from military drones. In the field of logistics, prototypes are emerging in the area of logistics transportation, and to develop a future transportation service under the name of a drone tax, each country is introducing its first flight results using its own unique drones. In this paper, we review the domestic and overseas trends of drone delivery service technology, which requires various capabilities such as automatic flight, and review the related core technologies. We then propose the flight capability and road map of a drone delivery service according to the detailed conditions such as the flight area, visibility, and flight method. Additionally, in connection with the postal processing of the Korea Post Office, which would be a main demand for this type of service, we describe a method for realizing a drone delivery service based on the structure, scenario, and deployment of the drone delivery system.

In this study, a direction for deregulation that can increase the use of drones in the field of spatial information is presented. Regulations and administrative procedures for drone operation showed similar procedures in Japan, the United States, and Korea, such as reporting flight equipment, driver's license, and prohibition of flying within a specific flight zone. In the United States, policies to encourage the use of commercial drones have been implemented, and Japan has slightly tightened regulations on drone operation to protect the Olympics and important national facilities. As a result of the study, in the area where drone operation is restricted for geospatial data construction, Korea was setting the largest area, and GIS analysis showed that Korea's drone flight restricted area was more than 19.4% of the country's land area. In order to increase the utilization of drones in the construction and utilization of spatial information in the future, it is necessary to reset the drone flight restriction zone and reduce the area of the drone flight restriction zone. In addition, it was found that Korea is the only country that has formal and specific regulations on geospatial information security management. In order to increase the construction of geospatial information using drones, it is necessary to ease GSD (Ground Sample Distance)regulations.

With the development and popularization of drone manufacturing technology, the drone market, which was mainly focused on industry, agriculture, and military, is also showing great growth in individual and commercial markets. Among them, DJI has a high share in the personal and commercial drone market, and accordingly, forensic analysis of DJI drones is drawing attention. In particular, when stealing and analyzing drones used in criminal acts, a technology to interpret flight logs recording drone flight paths and hardware information is needed, which inevitably applies drone models due to differences in decryption methods. Therefore, when an unidentified drone is acquired from the perspective of a digital forensic investigator, a clear classification of a drone model to which analysis can be applied is required. This paper proposes a method of extracting and analyzing artifacts of DJI drones through forensics, and analyzes media data analysis and flight log analysis results and decryption methods for three drone models with different release years of DJI. Finally, drones in the DJI product line are classified according to whether the commercialized DJI drone flight log is decrypted.
