In this paper, a mobile system using multi-wheel steering and driving mechanism is proposed to maximize maneuverability of the wheeled mobile system. Among various possible configurations, the two-wheel steering and driving systems, which is minimal in structural requirement, is proposed to reduce the complexity in actual design and difficulties in control. The system possesses three or four degrees of freedom depending on the orientations of two wheels, one or two for driving and two for steering, which implies that the system's mobility is always less than three DOF. The proposed system, nonetheless, can exactly emulate characteristics of the omnidirectional motion as long as the planned path is smooth i.e., the curvature changes continuously while velocity is not zero. Efficient kinematic and dynamic control algorithms are proposed for position and orientation control of the proposed wheeled mobile system.
The vehicle driving simulator expects vehicle motion with real-time simulation arise from driver's steering, accelerating, stopping and simulates motion of vehicl with visula, audio and washout algorithm. And it gives a vivid feeling to driver in reality. Vehicle driving simulator with vehicle integration control system is used for analysis of analysis of vehicle controllaility, steering capacity and safety in various pseudo environment alike. basides, it analyzeds vehicle safety factor dirver's reaction and promotes traffic safety without driver's own risks. The main proceduress of development of the vehicle driving simulator are classified by 3 parts. first the motion base system which can be generated by the motion queues, should be developed. Secondly, real-time vehicle software which can afford the vehicle dynamics, might be constructed. The third procedure is the integration of vehicle driing simulator which can be interconnected between visual systems with motion base. In this study, we are to study of the motion base for a vehicle driving simulator design and that of its real time control and using an extra gyro sensor and accelerometers to find a position and an orientatiion of the moving platform except for calculating forward kinematics. To drive the motion base, we use National Instruments corp's Labview software. Furthemore, we use analysis module for the vehicle motionand the washout algorithm module to consummate driving simulator, which can be driven by human in reality, so we are doing experimentally process about various vehicle motion conditon.

In this study a three-axes mobile robot which has two independently controlled driving wheels and a function of simultaneously steering the driving wheels has been developed. Two-motion modes of the mobile robot, the first is a differential velocity motion of two driving wheels and the second is a equal driving and steering motion, have been analyzed and the kinematic and dymanic analyses about the each motion mode have been carried out. As a result of dynamic analysis, the torque used on a motor control and acceleration have been derived explicitly. Hence, a computation time is saved effectively and a real time control of the mobile robot considering the dynamics has become possible. Through a simulation the results considering the dynamics have been compared with that no regarding the dynamics and the possibility of real-time control has been proved.

With the recent advancement of control method and battery technology, the electric vehicle have been researched to replace the conventional vehicle with electric vehicle with the view point of the environmental concerns and energy conservation. An electric vehicle which is equipped with the independent front steering system and in-wheel motors has advantage in terms of control. For example, the different torque which generated by left and right wheels directly can make yaw moment and the independent steering using outer wheel control is able to reduce the sideslip angle. Using of independent steering and driving system, the 4 wheel electric vehicle can improve a performance better than conventional vehicle. In this paper, we consider the method for improving the cornering performance of independent front steering system and in-wheel motor used electric vehicle with the compensated outer wheel angle and direct yaw moment control. Simulation results show that the method can improve the cornering performance of 4 wheel electric vehicle. We also apply the steering motor failure to steer the vehicle turned by the torque difference without steering. This paper describes an independent front steering and driving, consist of three parts; Vehicle Model, Control Algorithm for independent steering and driving and simulation. First, vehicle model is application of TruckSim software for independent front steering and 4 wheel driving. Second, control algorithm describes the reduced sideslip and direct yaw moment method in view of cornering performance. Last is simulation and verification.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate high technology adaptive driving controls, such as mini steering wheel-lever system and joystick system, for the people with physical disabilities in the driving simulator. Background: The drivers with severe physical disabilities have problems in operation of the motor vehicle because of reduced muscle strength and limited range of motion. Therefore, if the remote control system with driver-by-wire technology is used for adaptive driving controls for people with physical limitations, the disabled people can improve their quality of life by driving a motor vehicle. Method: We developed the remotely controlled driving simulator with drive-by-wire technology, e.g., mini steering wheel-lever system and joystick system, in order to evaluate driving performance in a safe environment for people with severe physical disabilities. STISim Drive 3 software was used for driving test and the customized Labview program was used in order to control the servomotors and the adaptive driving devices. Thirty subjects participated in the study to evaluate driving performance associated with three different driving controls: conventional driving control, mini steering wheel-lever controls and joystick controls. We analyzed the driving performance in three different courses: straight lane course for acceleration and braking performance, a curved course for steering performance, and intersections for coupled performance. Results: The mini steering wheel-lever system and joystick system developed in this study showed no significant statistical difference (p>0.05) compared to the conventional driving system in the acceleration performance (specified speed travel time, average speed when passing on the right), steering performance (lane departure at the slow curved road, high-speed curved road and the intersection), and braking performance (brake reaction time). However, conventional driving system showed significant statistical difference (p<0.05) compared to the mini steering wheel-lever system or joystick system in the heading angle of the vehicle at the completion point of intersection and the passing speed of the vehicle at left turning. Characteristics of the subjects were found to give a significant effect (p<0.05) on the driving performance, except for the braking reaction time (p>0.05). The subjects with physical disabilities showed a tendency of relatively slow acceleration (p<0.05) at the straight lane course and intersection. The steering performance and braking performance were confirmed that there was no statistically significant difference (p>0.05) according to the characteristics of the subjects. Conclusion: The driving performance with mini steering wheel-lever system and joystick control system showed no significant statistical difference compared to conventional system in the driving simulator. Application: This study can be used to design primary controls with driver-by-wire technology for adaptive vehicle and to improve their community mobility for people with severe physical disabilities.
In this study, a modeling method of power-assisted steering systems and driver models for vehicle dynamic analysis using AUTODYN7 is presented. Pressure-flow relations of flow control valve are derived, and the equations of motion of a steering gear are obtained. Combining pressure-flow relations and equations of motion, the steering force can be represented as a function of steering wheel angle or torque. Driver model was modeled based on a PID controller and forward target method. With the steering systems and driver model, various driving tests are conducted using AUTODYN7.

Two yaw motion control systems that improve a vehicle lateral stability are proposed in this study: a rear wheel steering yaw motion controller (SESP) and an enhanced rear wheel steering yaw motion controller (ESESP). A SESP controls the rear wheels, while an ESESP steers the rear wheels and front outer wheel to allow the yaw rate to track the reference yaw rate. A 15 degree-of-freedom vehicle model, simplified steering system model, and driver model are used to evaluate the proposed SESP and ESESP. A robust anti-lock braking system (ABS) controller is also designed and developed. The performance of the SESP and ESESP are evaluated under various road conditions and driving inputs. They reduce the slip angle when braking and steering inputs are applied simultaneously, thereby increasing the controllability and stability of the vehicle on slippery roads.

This paper proposes a 2D joystick and LoRa-based teleoperation system for the Ackermman steering mobile robot. The proposed joystick mapping algorithm reduces the linear speed of the robot when the joystick is steered in the direction of the maximum steering angle in the high-speed driving state of a mobile robot to reduce the risk of rollover. The LoRa-based remote operation system is designed for remote operation of mobile robots that require long range communication with relatively little data transmission and low power. The proposed system is implemented and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the teleoperation system with respect to the stability of communication strength and the robot motion.
In this study, vehicle directional stability is investigated for limit driving for crash avoidance maneuver using a full vehicle dynamic model. The model was analytically validated using typical step steering and lane change simulation. Limit driving condition for the vehicle model was quoted from research results of references. It was demonstrated that instable vehicle motion was caused by not only road conditions but also driving conditions. Also, the simulation showed that braking combined with steering caused very hazardous situation in crash avoidance maneuver. Finally, phase plane plot approach was used to evaluate the dynamic instability.

The tracked SUGVs(Small Unmanned Ground Vehicles) are frequently operated in the narrow slope such as stairs and trails. But due to the nature of the tracked vehicle which is steered using friction between the track and the ground and the limited field of view of driving cameras mounted on the lower position, it is not easy for SUGVs to trace narrow slopes. To properly trace inclined narrows, it is very important for SUGVs to keep it's heading direction to the slope. As a matter of factor, no roll value control of a SUGV can makes it's heading being located in the direction of the slope in general terrains. But, the problem is that we cannot directly control roll motion for SUGV. Instead we can control yaw motion. In this paper, a new slope driving method that enables the vehicle trace the narrow slopes with IMU sensor usually mounted in the SUGV is suggested which including an estimation technique of the desired yaw angle corresponding to zero roll angle. In addition, a fuzzy steering controller robust to changes in driving speed and the stair geometry is designed to simulate narrow slope driving with the suggested method. It is shown that the suggested method is quite effective through the simulation.
