  • Plug & Play techniques have been proposed in various ways to overcome the complexity of sensors/drivers in IoT application development. IEEE1451 standard abstracts sensors/drivers into a data structure called TEDS. As a result, characteristics of the sensor/driver are unnecessary when connecting the sensor/driver to the host device. The method proposed by ETRI is a format in which device drivers of sensors/drivers are dynamically loaded and connected to hosts, and there is no particular abstraction data structure. Both schemes are located at both ends in terms of the abstraction unit of the sensor/driver. We present the problem based on this fact, and what optimized methods can exist in the middle of it. In this paper, we analyze existing Plug&Play techniques. Also, we specify abstraction units of sensors/drivers, and analyze them.

  • This driving simulation study examined relative differences in driving anger as the functions of drivers' gender and driving experiences, and actor-observer perspectives when they were exposed in two anger-provoking driving scenarios(cutting-in and sudden stop). The results showed the followings. First, neither drivers' gender nor driving experience, when they were considered independently of the driving situation types and actor-observer perspectives, yielded significant difference in driving anger. Second, actor-observer effect on driving anger was observed only in the cutting-in condition where other driver's intension was emphasized. Third, the female drivers of low driving experience tended to show the strongest tendency of actor-observer bias in the cutting-in condition. These results suggested that the levels of driving anger as the functions of drivers' gender and driving experience can be differed by types of driving situation as well as perspectives of drivers' interpreting the situations.

  • The purpose of the present driving simulation study was to investigate the effects of fatigue induced both by sleep deprivation and time-on-task on driver's driving performance. The results are as followings. First, although the drivers in almost every experimental conditions showed faster driving speed than that was required, the drivers in the sleep-deprivation and over 1-hour time-on-task condition drove slower than the target speed. Second, the drivers in the sleep-deprivation and over 1-hour time-on-task condition crossed the lane less frequently than those in the other conditions, they weaved more in the lane. Third, as the drivers became more fatigued both by sleep deprivation and continuous driving, they reported higher fatigue scores in the subjective fatigue ratings. The results suggested that although the drivers might adapt a compensative driving strategies when they were fatigued, their driving performances were indeed impaired, in general.

  • In this paper, we propose a fault isolation system for device drivers of the Linux operating system. High availability systems impose stringent requirements upon Linux operating system. Especially device drivers can be a major source of operating system instability and many times contribute to system degradation and outages. The proposed fault isolation system identifies the occurrence of the memory-related faults in device driver and isolates it from the kernel. By operating at the early stage of the page fault handler in Linux kernel, the system detects which module causes fault and isolates it transparently from the remaining part of the kernel. By experiments, we show that the proposed system efficiently detects faults incurred by device driver, isolates the device driver and the process which accessed the driver module from the kernel.

  • Compressors in Large Multi-room air conditioning system are often driven by gas heat pumps. The advantages of GHP are their high level of heating performance and low cost because they use the LNG fuel to drive engine. We developed engine control system. The developed system controls engine speed based on proportional, integral and derivative (PID) method. This controller is designed to eliminate the need for continuous operator attention on engine revolution control. The control system includes 4 spark coil drivers, fuel drivers and relay drivers to make engine's operating more stable. The experiments of control engine revolution of this system are based on the various load conditions.

  • In forklift operations, awkward postures due to backward driving may put drivers to the risk of CTD or low back pain. In this research, 6 forklift drivers were surveyed with OWAS for objective posture evaluation and bodymaps for self-report evaluation. The backward driving happened more frequently than forward driving as expected, and, as work hours passed by, the drivers naturally tended to assume the easier work postures in inverse proportion to the frequency of the backward operations. According to the results of OWAS, 60 % of the work postures in the forklift operations belonged to the category II, III, and IV classified serious. Especially, in the backward driving, the postures with the neck twisted over $45^{\circ}$ occupied 82.4 %. In addition, discomfort on the neck, left shoulder, and low back was frequently reported in the self-reports.

  • This study deals with the relation between traffic accident and urban decline. The purpose of this study is to develop the regional accident models of elderly drivers. In order to develop the count data models, 2009-2015 traffic accident data from TAAS(traffic accident analysis system) and urban decline data from urban regeneration information system are collected. The main results are as follows. First, the null hypothesis that there is no difference in the accident number between elderly and non-elderly drivers is rejected. Second, 8 accident models which are all statistically significant have been developed. Finally, common variables between elderly and non-elderly are ratio of elderly people, elderly person living alone/1,000 persons and wholesale/retail employments/1,000 persons. This study could be expected to give many implications to making regional accident reduction policy.

  • PURPOSES : In this study, design elements of rest areas for drowsy drivers are classified and appropriate criteria for each design element are presented. METHODS : By comparing and analyzing the design criteria for rest areas, the most appropriate installation criteria were suggested by considering the driving patterns of rest area users. RESULTS : As a result of the study, elements influencing the design of rest areas for drowsy drivers are suggested such as installation location and installation type. In addition, proper separation distance between resting areas was suggested considering vehicle flow, users' fatigue and physiological needs. Other criteria for rest areas were also suggested. CONCLUSIONS : Proper safety facilities were not installed in rest areas because appropriate criteria were not established. In this study, design elements were derived and installation criteria were designed so that rest areas could be used safely and conveniently.

  • This study is to find out why drivers used to put pseudo-petroleum in their cars and to fundamentally remove any accidents from the misuse. Questionnaire survey has been made in Gimpo area where many drivers can use it comparatively easily outside of Seoul. And they are analyzed statistically using SPSS 12.0 package program. Correlation factor is shown with 0.683, very high relationship between using frequency and use period of cars. It is shown that important factor to give impact to consumer attitude has been produced as car-using period, education level. The longer the cars have been used, the more pseudo petroleum has been used, it is found.

  • This study was undertaken to develop the gap acceptance model of left-turn drivers on the major road at intersections. Typical unsignalized intersections on the two-lane and four-lane streets in Masan City were selected for the study intersection. For the gap distribution model, the lognormal, negative exponential, shifted negative exponential, and Gamma distributions were tested using the x2 and K-S tests. Based on the results for both streets, it was concluded that among the distributions tested the lognormal distribution represented the gap distribution best, followed by the shifted negative exponential distribution. Stochastic models of the gap-acceptance behavior of left-turn drivers on the major road at unsignalized intersections were programmed using SLAM Ⅱ, a simulation computer language. A stochastic model was selected for the gap-acceptance behavior to compare the results of the simulation with the observed data. The model assumes that a fixed critical acceptance gap is assigned to each left-turn driver based on a normal distribution and the gap distribution of the opposing traffic stream follows the shifted negative exponential distribution.
