  • Analysis for various driven nozzle position changes. The analysis was done for different Reynolds number in entrance region of jet-pump and for several diameter ratios of driven nozzle. (1) The largest absorption energy was found at the point s=1 in condition of diameter ratio 1:3.21 and point s=0.5 in condition of diameter ratio 1:2.25. (2) The absorption energy was not related to the change of entrance velocity and the driven nozzle position having the largest absorption energy was function for cross section ratio. (3) As the position of driven nozzle moves to the downstream, the absorption energy gets weaker. Because the energy from swirl was lost at the cross section gets smaller. (4) As the position of driven nozzle moves to the downstream, the injection energy leans to the upper direction wall and as the Reynolds number increase, the lean phenomenon is more distinct. (5) The flow quantity of driven nozzle, the diameter ratio 1:3.21, was 32% higher than that of 1 : 2.25 and as the inlet velocity gets faster the efficiency decreased. And as the cross section of the driven nozzle increases.

차세대 고응답 분사용 피에조 인젝터의 노즐유동 및 분무특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Nozzle Flow and Spray Characteristics of Piezo Injector for Next Generation High Response Injection)

  • Most diesel injector, which is currently used in high-pressure common rail fuel injection system of diesel engine, is driven by the solenoid coil energy for its needle movement. The main disadvantage of this solenoid-driven injector is a high power consumption, high power loss through solenoid coil and relatively fixed needle response's problem. In this study, a prototype piezo-driven injector, as a new injector mechanism driven by piezoelectric energy based on the concept of inverse piezo-electric effect, has been designed and fabricated to know the effect of piezo-driven injection processes on the diesel spray structure and internal nozzle flow. Firstly we investigated the spray characteristics in a constant volume chamber pressurized by nitrogen gas using the back diffusion light illumination method for high-speed temporal photography and also analyzed the inside nozzle flow by a fully transient simulation with cavitation model using VOF(volume of fraction) method. The numerical calculation has been performed to simulate the cavitating flow of 3-dimensional real size single hole nozzle along the injection duration. Results were compared between a conventional solenoid-driven injector and piezo-driven injector, both equipped with the same micro-sac multi-hole injection nozzle. The experimental results show that the piezo-driven injector has short injection delay and a faster spray development and produces higher injection velocity than the solenoid-driven injector. And the predicted simulation results with the degree of cavitation's generation inside nozzle for faster needle response In a piezo-driven injector were reflected to spray development in agreement with the experimental spray images.

  • This study describes the analysis results of unsteady cavitating flows behavior inside nozzle of the prototype piezo-driven injector. This piezo-driven injector has been recognised as one of the next generation diesel injector due to a higher driven efficiency than the conventional solenoid-driven injector. The three dimensional geometry model along the central cross-section regarding of one injection hole has been used to simulate the cavitating flows for injection time by at fully transient simulation with cavitation model. The cavitation model incorporates many of the fundamental physical processes assumed to take place in cavitating flows. The simulations performed were both fully transient and 'pseudo' steady state, even if under steady state boundary conditions. We could analyze the effect the pressure drop to the sudden acceleration of fuel, which is due to the fastest response of needle, on the degree of cavitation existed in piezo-driven injector nozzle

  • The injection nozzle of an electro-hydraulic injector is being opened and closed by movement of a injector's needle which is balanced by pressure at the nozzle seat and at the needle control chamber, at the opposite end of the needle. In this study, the effects of needle movement in a piezo-driven injector on unsteady cavitating flows behavior inside nozzle were investigated by cavitation numerical model based on the Eulerian-Lagrangian approach. Aimed at simulating the 3-D two-phase flow behavior, the three dimensional geometry model along the central cross-section regarding of one injection hole with real design data of a piezo-driven diesel injector has been used to simulate the cavitating flows for injection time by at fully transient simulation with cavitation model. The cavitation model incorporates many of the fundamental physical processes assumed to take place in cavitating flows.   • It has been the most progressive interruption technique to use the ablation gas from the surface of PTFE nozzle driven by arc plasma during switching process in $SF_6$ gas circuit breakers. This advanced interruption technique can reduce the required mechanical energy to compress and blow the gas for extinguishing the arc plasma between the electrodes due to using the ablation effect instead. In order to consider the phenomena during calculation of switching process, it is required to confirm the principles of ablation from PTFE nozzle as well as of arc plasma during switching process. In this study, we have calculated the switching process considered the ablation of PTFE nozzle driven by arc plasma using multidisciplinary simulation technique and compared the results with the data without the ablation effect. More $50\%$ difference of pressure rise inside expansion chamber has been found from the results and it should be indispensable for this type of computational work to consider and include the ablation effect of PTFE nozzle. Further study on turbulence and radiation will be followed.

  • The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of motive pressure, driving nozzle position and nozzle throat ratio on the performance of ejector. The experiment was conducted in the variation of motive pressure of 0.196, 0.294, 0.392 and 0.490MPa respectively. The position of driving nozzle was varied in difference locations according to mixing tube diameter(0.5d, 1d, 2d, 3d, 4.15d, 5d and 6d). The experimental results show when the nozzle outlet is located at 3d, the flow characteristics change abruptly. It is shown that the suction flow rate and pressure lift ratio of ejector is influenced by the driving nozzle position. At nozzle position location of the Id of mixing tube diameter the performance of ejector gives the best performance.

  • In the electro-hydraulic injector for the common rail Diesel fuel injection system, the injection nozzle is being opened and closed by movement of a injector's needle which is balanced by pressure at the nozzle seat and at the needle control chamber, at the opposite end of the needle. In this study, the piezo actuator was considered as a prime movers in high pressure Diesel injector. Namely a piezo-driven Diesel injector, as a new method driven by piezoelectric energy, has been applied with a purpose to develop the analysis model of the piezo actuator to predict the dynamics characteristics of the hydraulic component(injector) by using the AMESim code. Aimed at simulating the hydraulic behavior of the piezo-driven injector, the circuit model has been developed and verified by comparison with the experimental results. As this research results, we found that the input voltage exerted on piezo stack is the dominant factor which affects on the initial needle behavior of piezo-driven injector than the hydraulic force generated by the constant injection pressure. Also we know the piezo-driven injector has more degrees of freedom in controlling the injection rate with the high pressure than a solenoid-driven injector.

  • 본 논문은 중앙구동 이젝터의 유량비에 미치는 설계변수의 영향에 대한 연구를 목적으로 한다. 중앙구동 이젝터의 설계변수는 구동노즐 출구 단면적 및 거리비, 디퓨저 출구 단면적비로 설정하였다. 실험장치는 가변노즐 이젝터, 전동 모터-펌프, 구동유체 저장수조, 제어판넬 그리고 고속 카메라 시스템으로 구성하였다. 유량비는 실험변수에 따라 측정되는 유입 공기량과 구동유체인 물의 유량을 이용하여 도출하였다. 유량비는 구동노즐 거리비와 혼합관 길이비가 커지면 증가하는 반면에, 구동노즐 면적비와 디퓨저 출구 면적비가 커지면 감소하였다.

  • future exhaust emission limits for diesel-driven passenger cars will force the automotive company to significantly develop of the new technologies of diesel engine respectively of the drive assemblies. As we know, the contributions of soot and nitrogen oxide is the main problems in diesel engine. Recently, as a result, the pilot injection of common-rail fuel injection system recognizes an alternative function to solve an environmental problem. This study describes the effect of the nozzle structure and driven characteristic of injector on pilot injection fur a passenger car common-rail system. The pilot spray structure such as spray tip penetration, spray speed and spray angle were obtained by high speed images, which is measured by the Mie scattering method with optical system fur high-speed temporal photography. Also the CFD analysis was carried out for fuel behavior under high pressure in between needle and nozzle of injector for common-rail system to know the condition of initial injection at experiment test. It was found that solenoid-driven injector with 5-hole was faster than 6-hole injector in spray speed at same conditions and piezo-driven injector showed faster response than solenoid injector.

팁젯 로터의 소음원 구분을 통한 소음 예측 기법 연구 (Study on noise prediction by classification of noise sources of a tip-jet driven rotor)

  • 팁젯 로터의 소음원은 로터 블레이드 소음과 제트 소음으로 분리할 수 있다. 로터 블레이드 소음은 두께 소음, 하중 소음, 비선형 사중극 소음으로 구성되고 제트 소음은 노즐 모멘텀 소음과 제트 방사 소음으로 나뉜다. 로터 블레이드 소음을 해석하기 위해 유동 해석 정보를 전산유체역학(Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD) 해석으로 얻은 뒤 투과면, 비투과면 FW-H(Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings) 음향 상사법을 동시에 적용하여 각 소음원을 구분하였다. 그리고 제트 소음은 노즐 출구 조건을 활용하여 투과면 FW-H 음향 상사법으로 노즐 모멘텀 소음을 구하고 기존 고정익 제트에 대한 경험식을 활용하여 제트 방사 소음을 얻었다. 검증 기체의 소음 측정값을 기준으로 해석 기법의 신뢰성을 검증하였고 스펙트럼 분석을 통해 팁젯 로터의 독특한 소음 특성을 확인하였다.
