전력용 IGBT의 시뮬레이션과 과도 해석 (Simulation of Power IGBT and Transient Analysis)

  • The IGBT(Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) is a power semiconductor device that has gained acceptance among circuit design engineers for motor drive and power converter applications. IGBT devices(International Rectifier, Proposed proposed model etc) have the best features of both power MOSFETs and power bipolar transistors, i.e., efficient voltage gate drive requirememts and high current density capability. When designing circuit and systems that utilize IGBTs or other power semiconductor devices, circuit simulations are needed to examine how the devices affect the behavior of the circuit. The interaction of the IGBT with the load circuit can be described using the device model and the state equation of the load circuit. The voltage rise rate at turn-off for inductive loads varies significantly for IGBTs with different base life times, and this rate of rise is important in determing the voltage overshoot for a given series resistor-inductor load circuit. Excessive voltage overshoot is potentially destructive, so a snubber protection circuit may be required. The protection circuit requirements are unique for the IGBT and can be examined using the model. The IGBT model in this paper is verified by comparing the results of the model with experimented results for various circuit operating conditions. The model performs well and describes experimented results accurately for the range of static and dynamic condition in which the device is intended to be operated.

Performance Evaluation of the Field-Oriented Control of Star-Connected 3-Phase Induction Motor Drives under Stator Winding Open-Circuit Faults

  • A method for the fault-tolerant vector control of star-connected 3-phase Induction Motor (IM) drive systems based on Field-Oriented Control (FOC) is proposed in this paper. This method enables the control of a 3-phase IM in the presence of an open-phase failure in one of its phases without the need for control structure changes to the conventional FOC algorithm. The proposed drive system significantly reduces the speed and torque pulsations caused by an open-phase fault in the stator windings. The performance of the proposed method was verified using MATLAB (M-File) simulation as well experimental tests on a 1.5kW 3-phase IM drive system. This paper experimentally compares the operation of the proposed fault-tolerant vector controller and a conventional vector controller during open-phase fault.

Halbach Magnetic Circuit for Voice Coil Motor in Hard Disk Drives

  • Rotary-type voice coil motors are widely used as actuators in hard disk drives. The recent trend toward higher density and smaller form factors in data storage devices requires performance improvement of the voice coil motor. In this study, we introduce a Halbach magnet array to the voice coil motor in order to increase the force generation. The Halbach magnetic circuit outperforms the conventional magnetic circuit due to the confined magnetic flux. To investigate the performance of the Halbach magnetic circuit, we analyze air gap flux density with the various shapes and thickness of the magnets using 3-dimensional finite element analysis. Consequently the optimum shape of the Halbach magnetic circuit is proposed. Simulations and experimental results proved effectiveness of the proposed magnet array in the voice coil motor for a commercial hard disk drive.

  • In this paper, two kinds of the protection circuits are proposed and simulated to verify their performances. One is an over current protection circuit, and the other is a no load protection circuit which reduces power consumption. These protection circuits of an LED drive circuit can reduce power consumption and prevent to damage the elements.

  • 본 논문에서는 자기 에너지 하베스트를 이용하여 지하 공동구의 비상조명 LED를 구동하는 전력관리 회로를 설계하였다. 자기 에너지 하베스트는 하베스터 소자와 전력관리 회로로 구성되어 진다. 제안하는 회로는 정류기, 배터리 충전회로와 LED 구동회로로 만들어졌다. 평상시에는 만들어진 전력으로 배터리를 충전하고, 비상시에는 배터리에 충전된 에너지를 이용하여 LED를 구동한다. 측정 결과, 47 mF 커패시터를 충전하는 데 2분이 걸렸다. 이것은 약 3분 30초 동안 비상조명용 LED를 구동할 수 있는 전력량이다. 이를 통해, 본 논문에서 제안하는 자기 에너지 하베스트용 전력관리 회로를 이용하여 별도의 전원을 끌어오기 어려운 지하 공동구의 비상조명 LED 구동용 전원장치로 사용할 수 있는 것을 확인하였다.

  • 전동기 구동에 있어서 부하 특성의 변화는 가장 중요하게 고려해야 할 것 중 하나이다. 일반적으로 부하의 변동은 전동기에 흐르는 전류의 크기를 변화시키므로 그 변동의 크기에 따라 적절한 드라이브를 설계해야 할 필요가 있다. 하지만 물의 흐름과 역방향 부하토크 때문에 드럼 세탁기의 부하 변동은 불규칙하며 크다. 이러한 부하 패턴을 고려한 드럼 세탁기의 구동 드라이브를 설계하기 위하여 세탁기 부하의 변동을 물리적 해석을 통해서 모델링 하고자 한다.

  • This paper presents a design and characteristics analysis of an SRM drive for EPS application. A rack mounted EPS system is considered in this paper. In the unrestricted design conditions, motor parameters are determined for sufficient torque and speed with some restrictions. For the smooth torque generation and simple circuit of power system, 12/8 motor drive is considered. With FEM and magnetic circuit analysis, redesigned motor is simulated to meet the requirement of specifications. Effectiveness of the suggested SRM drive for EPS application is verified by redesigned motor drive tests.

선간 전압을 이용한 BLDC 모터의 센서리스 구동 (Sensorless Drive of the BLDC Motor using a Line Voltage Difference)

  • In recent years, sensorless drive schemes have been proposed widely and most of them are based on the ZCP (Zero Crossing Point) detection of the BEMF (Back Electro-Motive Force). These schemes have two main problems. One is that ZCP may not be detected at low speed and thus a forced drive is required. The other problem is that there is $30^{\circ}$ phase difference between ZCP and the motor commutation instant and to ensure proper operation, this gap should be accounted for. To solve these problems a circuit is devised for detecting ZCP of the BEMF difference through the line voltage difference. Experimental results show that the output of this circuit is identical to that of the Hall sensor signal, and velocity control of a BLDC motor is possible without the sensor.

  • This paper presents a simple circuit topology of the auxiliary active quasi-resonant DC link snubber-assisted three phase voltage source soft-switching inverter for small scale PM motor drive applications. The pulse processing drive circuit interface and its soft-switching operation are discussed from an experimental point of view. Moreover, its conductive noise is measured and evaluated for electrical AC servo motor drive as compared with that of the conventional hard switching inverter.

Effectiveness of the suggested SRM drive for EPS application is verified by the manufactured prototype motor drive tests.
