A real time error compensation system was developed to improve the quasistatic volumetric accuracy of a machining center by using sensing, metrology, modeling, and computer control techniques. Including thermal errors, 32 error components are formulated in the time-space domain. Fifteen thermal sensors are used to characterize the temperature field of the machine. A compensation controller based on the IBM/PC has been linked with a CNC controller to compensate for machine errors in real time. The maximum linear displacement error in 4 body diagonals were reduced from 140 ${\mu}m$ to 34.5${\mu}m$ with this compensation system, and the spindle thermal drift in space was reduced from 147.3 ${\mu}m$ to 16.8 ${\mu}m$.

In this paper, we deal with two drift compensation algorithms of acceleration sensor for measuring the galloping on power transmission line. Firstly, the block diagram of galloping measurement system is given and a galloping model is presented. Secondly, two compensation algorithms, a simple compensation and a period compensation, are proposed. A simple compensation algorithm uses the drifts of velocity and distance at fixed periods, so it is useful for constant drift case. Next, a period compensation algorithm can compensate a periodic drift. This algorithm uses the previous measured data and compensated data for constant period, where the period is obtained by FFT method. Lastly, the effectiveness of proposed algorithms is verified by comparing between two algorithms in simulation, and its characteristics and the drift error bound are shown, respectively.
This paper presents the on-board attitude determination algorithm for LEO (Low Earth Orbit) three-axis stabilized spacecraft. Two advanced star trackers and a three-axis Inertial Reference Unit (IRU) are assumed to be attitude sensors. The gyro in the IRU provides a direct measurement of the attitude rates. However, the attitude estimation error increases with time due to the gyro drift and noise. An update filter with measurements of star trackers and/or sun sensor is designed to update these gyro drift bias and to compensate the attitude error. Kalman Filter is adapted for the on-board update filter algorithm. Simulation results will be presented to investigate the attitude pointing performance.

Experimental work in underwater acoustic communications using passive phase conjugation has shown that the demodulation error depends on the relative drift rate between the source and receiver [Rouseff et al., IEEE J. Oceanic Eng. 26, 821-831 (2001)]. The observed effect involves the mismatch between the initial impulse response and the subsequent response after the source or receiver has changed locations. In the present work, the effect of drifting source is analyzed by numerical simulations and compared to the experimental results. The communications bit error rate is qualified as a function of drift rate, drifting direction, and source-receiver range.
A wavelength-independent optical sensor based on an asymmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometer (AMZI) is proposed. The optical sensor based on an AMZI is very sensitive to wavelength, and wavelength drift will lead to measurement error. The optical sensor is compensated to reduce its dependence on wavelength. The insensitivity of the optical sensor to wavelength mainly depends on the compensation structure, which is composed of an AMZI cascaded with another AMZI and can compensate the wavelength drift. The influence of wavelength drift on the optical sensor can be counteracted by carefully designing the size parameters of the compensation structure. When the wavelength changes from 1549.9 nm to 1550.1 nm, the error after compensation can be lower than 0.066%. Furthermore, the effect of fabrication tolerance on compensation results is analyzed. The proposed compensation method can also be used to compensate the drift of other parameters such as temperature, and can be applied to the compensation of other interference-based optical devices.
In this paper, we discuss the quantification of Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) thermal stabilization which is needed in optical phase shaped binary transmission (PSBT) links. Considering the thermo-optic and thermal expansion effects, we revisit the analytical expression for the thermal drift (GHz/$^{\circ}C$) of the MZI center frequency (denoted here by the 'MZI spectral drift'). An MZI is then used in an experimental transmission system using the optical PSBT format. We study the effect of spectral MZI drift by using a thermally stabilized interferometer and applying a frequency shift to the optical carrier. By using the thermal drift coefficient of the MZI, we find that to ensure low bit error rate fluctuations due to the MZI drift, the thermal stabilization of the device must have an accuracy of $0.5^{\circ}C$.

The gyro sensor that made by MEMS process is generated an accumulated error(drift) and escape the zero angle following during calculation of rotate angle. This study propose BACF(Boot Angle Compensation Filter) algorithm for prevent escape zero angle and DCF algorithm for remove accumulated error. DCF algorithm is designed for acquire accurate turn of ratio by remove offset and noise components. BACF algorithm is obtained average offset that removed noise components by recursively calculate. Experimental environment, two-axis gyro sensor and mobile OIS camera mounted control board and 5Hz oscillation of ${\pm}0.5^{\circ}$ for the experiments were carried out. BACF and DCF algorithm is applied and the resulting accumulated error did not occur and exactly zero angle following results were made.
In streaming data analysis, detecting concept drift accurately is important to maintain the performance of classification model. Error rates are usually used for concept drift detection. However, by describing prediction results with only binary values of 0 or 1, useful information about a behavior pattern of a classifier can be lost. In this paper, we propose an effective concept drift detection method which describes performance pattern of a classifier by utilizing probability estimates for class prediction and detects a significant change in a classifier behavior. Experimental results on synthetic and real streaming data show the efficiency of the proposed method for detecting the occurrence of concept drift.

Accurate heading information is crucial for the navigation of intelligent vehicles. In outdoor environments, GPS is usually used for the navigation of vehicles. However, in GPS-denied environments such as dense building areas, tunnels, underground areas and indoor environments, non-GPS solutions are required. Yaw-rates from a single gyro sensor could be one of the solutions. In dealing with gyro sensors, the drift problem should be resolved. HDR (Heuristic Drift Reduction) can reduce the average heading error in straight line movement. However, it shows rather large errors in some moving environments, especially along curved lines. This paper presents a method called VDR (Vision-based Drift Reduction), a system which uses a low-cost vision sensor as compensation for HDR errors.
