This study aims to propose a determinant model to select a method on calculating weight of each indicator for environmental evaluation. According to analyzing and comparing with three types of methods for calculating weights which are usually used to evaluate environment with indicators, the weights which were obtained by each type were all different from each other. This means that a differential weighting method must be applied to each of environmental evaluation studies. Therefore, a determinant model is required to determine weight-calculating methods. Three types of weighting methods, such as weighting by importance degree, weighting by eigen-value and weighting by analytic hierarchy process, were compared. Under the necessity, a determinant model was drawn for selecting a compatible method to calculate weights of indicators in environmental evaluation.
Since the Internet has been widespread all over the world, it has been getting more popular. Almost every bank that runs offline business has its own Web site to provide online banking service. In this study, we developed a research model based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). We added the concepts of trust and cost to evaluate our model because trust is a major concept in adopting online service, and cost is one of the main strategies to attract customers to use online banking service. To see the validation of the model, we used partial least squares (PLS). A survey was done to gather data. The result was drawn from the model test, and we discuss it and conclude the study.
Escalators are widely used for mass transportation in public places. In recent years, strict requirements on the comfort and reliability for the public transportation have drawn a great attention to vibration in escalators. This paper presents a dynamic model for escalators to be used for the analysis and design of low vibration escalators. The dynamic model is developed so as to reflect the physical observation on peculiar characteristics in escalators such as the difference between up-moving and down-moving, and the abnormal vibration affected by the load applied. For validation of the dynamic model developed, experimental results are compared with numerical results from the model. The numerical study shows that the developed model may be useful for the analysis and design of escalator systems.

A methodology of constructions a mathematical cost model for an activity constituting ship hull assembly process is proposed. The relationship between number of workers and processing time required for an activity can be formulated using an work study method, then manhours and shop floor area-hours required are calculated accordingly. The costs for unit manhour and unit shop floor area-hour respectively are calculated by distributing the overall annual cost of the company to the overall production resources consummed during the year. A general procedure of implementing the methodology has been demonstrated through a test on an exampled activity drawn from a real process.
Semantic object model has widely been recognized as an alternative data modeling approach to entity-relationship model for database system design. In this study, we have presented a semantic object model for intermediary type shopping mall consisting of multiple buyers and sellers. Essential processes and information with regard to the customer management, product management, price estimation, product order etc. have been considered for this study. Upon careful examination and analysis of them, a detailed semantic objects and attributes have been drawn and structured into semantic object diagrams. The final objects were converted into an entity-relationship diagram so that intuitive comparison could be made for relational database design. The results in this study may form a conceptual framework for both academic concerns and more complicated system applications.

A 2-bay 2-story moment-resisting reinforced concrete plane frame with seismic detail was designed. One 1/2.5-scale and one 1/10th model subassemblages were manufactured accoring to the required similitude law. Then the reversed load tests under the displacement control were performed statically to these subassemblages. The results of these tests were compared regarding to the similitude in the characteristics of structural behaviors such as strength., stiffness, energy dissipation, failure modes and local deformations. Based on these results, the following conclussions were drawn : (1) The strength of 1/10 model was very similar to that of 1/2.5 specimen. (2) The initial stiffness of 1/10 model appers to be approximately 2/3 of that of 1/2.5 specimen. (3) 1/10 model has therefore smaller energy dissipation capacity than 1/2.5 specimen. (4) Inelastic excursion mechanisms of 1/2.5 specimen and 1/10 model apper to be a little different.
With the increase of interest in developing Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS), an optimal ship route planning is gradually gaining popularity as one of the important subsystems for autonomy of modern marine vessels. In the present paper, an optimal ship route planning model for MASS is proposed using a nonlinear MPC approach together with a nonlinear MMG model. Results drawn from this study demonstrated that the optimization problem for the ship route was successfully solved with satisfaction of the nonlinear dynamics of the ship and all constraints for the state and manipulated variables using the nonlinear MPC approach. Given that a route generation system capable of accounting for nonlinear dynamics of the ship and equality/inequality constraints is essential for achieving fully autonomous navigation at sea, it is expected that this paper will contribute to the field of autonomous vehicles by demonstrating the performance of the proposed optimal ship route planning model.
Turning behavior of tractor-trailer system was studied to guide the tractor and trailer. Based upon kinematic relationship between the tractor and the trailer, a mathematical model was developed and analyzed by computer simulation. A field test was carried out to verify the mathematical model. Following conclusions were drawn from this study. 1. A mathematical model and a simulation program for turning behavior of tractor-trailer system were developed. 2. The results of the field tests showed that the RMS errors were less than 0.33m and the mathematical model based upon kinematic relationship can be used for mapping guidance system for tractor and trailer. 3. As the steering angle was increased, the turning radius was decreased. When the tractor travelled at the low speed, the travel speed of the tractor did not affect turning radius but did affect running time and stability for steering. 4. When the tractor travelled under the critical velocity, the towed trailer followed smoothly. When the the tractor travelled faster than the critical velocity, the towed trailer oscillated. The critical velocity was determined from the specification of the tractor and the trailer.
In this paper, the algorithm which can convert a 2D image into a 3D Model will be discussed. The 2D picture drawn by a user is scanned for image processing. The Canny algorithm is employed to find the contour. The waterfront algorithm is proposed to find foreground image area. The foreground area is segmented to decompose the complex shapes into simple shapes. Then, simple segmented foreground image is converted into 3D model to become a complex 3D model. The 3D conversion formular used in this paper is also discussed. The generated 3D model data will be useful for 3D animation and other 3D contents creation.
Based on the Model Coupled Method (MCM), a case study has been carried out on a Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular (CFST) tied arch bridge to investigate the vibration problem. The mathematical model assumed a finite element representation of the bridge together with beam, shell, and link elements, and the vehicle simulation employed a three dimensional linear vehicle model with seven independent degrees-of-freedom. A well-known power spectral density of road pavement profiles defined the road surface roughness for Perfect, Good and Poor roads respectively. In virtue of a home-code program, the dynamic interaction between the bridge and vehicle model was simulated, and the dynamic amplification factors were computed for displacement and internal force. The impact effects of the vehicle on different bridge members and the influencing factors were studied. Meanwhile the acceleration responses of some of the components were analyzed in the frequency domain. From the results some valuable conclusions have been drawn.
