  • The purpose of this study is to develop a motion generation technique based on a double inverted pendulum model (DIPM) that learns and reproduces humanoid robot (or virtual human) motions while keeping its balance in a pattern similar to a human. DIPM consists of a cart and two inverted pendulums, connected in a serial. Although the structure resembles human upper- and lower-body, the balancing motion in DIPM is different from the motion that human does. To do this, we use the motion capture data to obtain the reference motion to keep the balance in the existence of external force. By an optimization technique minimizing the difference between the motion of DIPM and the reference motion, control parameters of the proposed method were learned in advance. The learned control parameters are re-used for the control signal of DIPM as input of linear quadratic regulator that generates a similar motion pattern as the reference. In order to verify this, we use virtual human experiments were conducted to generate the motion that naturally balanced.

  • After cleft lip repair, many patients suffer from nasolabial fistulas, asymmetrical nasal floor, or an indistinct nostril sill, as well as intraoral wound dehiscence and subsequent scar contracture of surgical wounds leading to vestibular stenosis. For successful primary nasolabial repair of complete cleft deformity of the primary palate, cleft surgeons need special care in reconstructing the sound nasal floor. Especially when the cleft gap is wide or when any type of nasoalveolar molding therapy was not performed, three-dimensional reconstruction of the nasal floor is critical for a balanced nasal shape. In this study, the author describes an effective method for reconstructing a double-layered nasal floor using two mucosal flaps from both sides of the fissured upper lip. This is a report of six patients with unilateral or bilateral complete cleft of the primary palate with a detailed description of the surgical technique and a literature review.

  • Semiinsulating GaAs crystals employing LPLEC technique should be grown from the Ga-rich melt due to a very low incorporation of unintentional impurities such as carbon (<$10^{15}cm^{-3}$). High resisitivity of this material can be derived from the balanced compensation among not only EL2 deep donors and carbon acceptors but also H1 double charge native acceptors(Ev + 77meV, Ev + 200 meV) and H2 native acceptors(Ev + 68 meV). Considering of the complicated compensation mechanism using statistical calculation of the electron occupancy of each level, SI GaAs crystal with low impurity contents(<$10^{15}cm^{-3}$) can be successfully obtained by maintaining the melt composition around 0.45 As mole fraction.

  • In this paper, a model is introduced named double relation chains (DRC) based on ordered sets. It is proved that using DRC and special relationships among the members of an alphabet, vectors of this alphabet can be stored and searched in a tree. This idea is general; however, one special application of DRC is the longest prefix matching (LPM) problem in an IP network. Applying the idea of DRC to the LPM problem makes the prefixes comparable like numbers using a pair of w-bit vectors to store at least one and at most w prefixes, where w is the IP address length. This leads to good compression performance. Based on this, two recently introduced structures called coded prefix trees and scalar prefix trees are shown to be specific applications of DRC. They are implementable on balanced trees which cause the node access complexity for prefix search and update procedures to be O(log n) where n is the number of prefixes. As another advantage, the number of node accesses for these procedures does not depend on w. Additionally, they need fewer number of node accesses compared to recent range-based solutions. These structures are applicable on both IPv4 and IPv6, and can be implemented in software or hardware.

  • This paper presents the design and analysis of 2.45GHz Low-IF Mixer using CMOS 0.18um. The Mixer is implemented by using the Gilbert-type configuration, current bleeding technique, and the resonating technique for the tail capacitance. And the design of this Double Balance Mixer is based on its lineaity since it is important in the interference cancellation system. The low flicker noise mixer is implemented by incorporating a double balanced Gilber-type configuration, the RF leakage-less current bleeding technique, and Cp resonating technique. The proposed mixer has a simulated conversion gain of 16dB a simulated IIP3 of -3.3dBm and P1dB is -19dBm. A simulated noise figure of 6.9dB at l0MHz and a flicker corner frequency of 510kHz while consuming only 10.65mW od DC power. The layout of Mixer for one-chip design in a 0.18-um TSMC process has 0.474mm$\times$0.39 mm size.

  • Objectives: To compare the efficacy of intravenous ondansetron (4 mg, 2 mL) and granisetron (2 mg, 2 mL) for preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in patients during oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures under general anesthesia. Materials and Methods: A prospective, randomized, and double blind clinical study was carried out with 60 patients undergoing oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures under general anesthesia. Patients were divided into two groups of 30 individuals each. Approximately two minutes before induction of general anesthesia, each patient received either 4 mg (2 mL) ondansetron or 2 mg (2 mL) granisetron intravenously in a double blind manner. Balanced anesthetic technique was used for all patients. Patients were assessed for episodes of nausea, retching, vomiting, and the need for rescue antiemetic at intervals of 0-2, 3, 6, 12, and 24 hours after surgery. Incidence of complete response and adverse effects were assessed at 24 hours postoperatively. Data was tabulated and subjected to statistical analysis using the chi-square test, unpaired t-test, or the Mann-Whitney U-test as appropriate. A P-value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups for incidence of PONV or the need for rescue antiemetic. Both study drugs were well tolerated with minimum adverse effects; the most common adverse effect was headache. The overall incidence of complete response in the granisetron group (86.7%) was significantly higher than the ondansetron group (60.0%). Conclusion: Granisetron at an intravenous dose of 2 mg was found to be safe, well tolerated, and more effective by increasing the incidence of complete response compared to 4 mg intravenous ondansetron when used for antiemetic prophylaxis in maxillofacial surgery patients receiving general anesthesia. Benefits of granisetron include high receptor specificity and high potency, which make it a valuable alternative to ondansetron.

  • This study aims to develop a proper face design for traditional fashion doll so that the Korean traditional doll can achieve its stand in the modern collection with the new face design based on researching documents, analyzing the examples and delivering a customer survey. The majority of dolls in traditional costume has an innocent look with inverted triangle shape face. But the inverted triangle or oval shape as well as the refined look of well balanced facial features are preferred. An oval face, elongated eyes with no double eyelid or inner double eyelid, plump lips and round and high nose are considered beautiful in the traditional figure. Based on this result, a new design is configured with an inverted triangular face with slightly plump cheeks, eyes with reduced eye, pupil and double eyelid, round nose without tuning up and small and full lower lip.

  • In this paper, a double-sided planar balun using Microstrip-to-CPW coupled structure is fabricated and measured. The measured amplitude and phase imbalance are, respectively, less than 0.2 dB and 2.1$^{\circ}$ in a wide frequency range from 2.44 GHz to 4.33 GHz. It is expected that the proposed balun can improved the performance of balanced mixer, amplifier and feeding network of antennas. Also, it can be used in many microwave multilayer structures due to its structural characteristics.
