  • We have experienced 44 cases of coarctation of aorta in the age of infancy and children from April 1986 to September 1989 at Seoul National University Children`s hospital. Patients were thirty males and fourteen females, and their age ranged from one month to ten years[mean 23.84 $\pm$33.06 months] with thirty-two infant cases. In the infantile age, congestive heart failure was the most common chief complaint[18/32], and above that age, frequent upper respiratory infection was most common[8/12]. We experienced thirteen cases of isolated COA, twenty-two cases of COA with VSD, eight cases of COA with VSD, eight cases of COA with intracardiac complex anomalies and one case of COA with atrial septal defect. The associated intracardiac complex anomalies were three Taussig-Bing type double outlet right ventricle, one single ventricle, one transposition of great arteries, one atrioventricular septal defect, one hypoplastic aortic arch with left heart hypoplasia, and one Tetralogy of Fallot. Operative techniques of COA were twenty-three subclavian flap arterioplasty, 12 resection and end to end anastomosis, eight onlay patch angioplasty, and I direct angioplasty after resection of web. Among the cases with other cardiac anomalies, staged operation was done in twenty-nine patients, and single stage total correction was performed only in three patients. There were seven operative mortality[15.9%], all being in infantile age group, and among fourteen cases associated with large VSD[Qp/Qs>2.0, mean pulmonary arterial pressure>50mmHg], four patients were died, but there was no mortality in patients with small VSD. With above results, we are intended to discuss about the interval between staged operation, the fate of VSD after coarctoplasty in case of COA with VSD, causes of death, complications etc.

  • This paper proposes a real-time implementation of an optimal operation of a double stage grid connected wind power system incorporating an active power filter (APF). The system is used to supply the nonlinear loads with harmonics and reactive power compensation. On the generator side, a new adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control is proposed to track the maximum wind power point regardless of wind speed fluctuations. Whereas on the grid side, a modified predictive current control (PCC) algorithm is used to control the APF, and allow to ensure both compensating harmonic currents and injecting the generated power into the grid. Also a type 2 fuzzy logic controller is used to control the DC-link capacitor in order to improve the dynamic response of the APF, and to ensure a well-smoothed DC-Link capacitor voltage. The gained benefits from these proposed control algorithms are the main contribution in this work. The proposed control scheme is implemented on a small-scale wind energy conversion system (WECS) controlled by a dSPACE 1104 card. Experimental results show that the proposed T2FLC maintains the DC-Link capacitor voltage within the limit for injecting the power into the grid. In addition, the PCC of the APF guarantees a flexible settlement of real power exchanges from the WECS to the grid with a high power factor operation.

  • In order to analyze the lateral-load resisting capability according to the core locations, three-dimensional structural analyses were performed for 20-story buildings with symmetric plan. Four analytical models for a center core, a single-axial eccentric core, and a double-axial eccentric core were constructed, and eigenvalue analyses, wind-load analyses, and earthquake-load analyses were performed. Torsion did not occur in the central core building, but the bending and torsion occurred in combination with the arrangement of the eccentric core, and the lateral-load resisting capability was degraded. The change in the wind load according to the eccentric core was small, but the maximum lateral displacement was found to increase greatly by the eccentric arrangement of the core. In addition, in case of the eccentric core, the seismic load was slightly reduced compared to the center core due to the decrease in the lateral stiffness, but it was found that the maximum story drift ratio increased significantly due to the torsional effect. Based on these results, the structural behavior according to the position of the core can be clearified and used as a guideline for core locations in the planning and design stage.

  • The space of the Other assumes the space of Barthes's multiplicity and Foucault's transdiscursive position, and, therefore, aims at becoming the locus in which the speaking subject and the hearing subjects are supposed to communicate and constitute as if they were situated in the pscychoanalytic session. However, the wall of untranslatibility across language and cultures still exist there in the space of the Other in the form of trauma and aggressivity, as Lacan demonstrate perceptively through the reading of Kant avec Sade. In short, Lacan regards the moral commandment (to love one's neighbor as oneself) as the obstacle in the Freud's myth of transgression, and interprets this in terms of the emergence of the Other. Freud understands that the aggressivity in the subject's own heart was inherent in all humans, and that one's neighbor would be evil. Lacan goes beyond Freud and articulates that the aggressivity in the imaginary relation with the Other in the mirror stage insures that an evil inheres in the very being of humanity. A global phenomenon of the diasporic identities and hybridity, the phenomenon which has been represented by the complicated intermixture of terms which span from diaspora, postcolonialism, postnationalism. and transnationalism can be clarified, if they are put in the context of the ethics of Othering or becoming the Other. The ethics of Othering presupposes the situation in which the diasporic subjects encounter the lack of the cross-cultural negotiation and communication. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how the poetics of Other and the logic of the ethics of Othering can explain the postmodern or transmodern world which has become deterritorialized, diasporic, and transnational as well as how one can encounter the results of diasporic and postcolonial double consciousness, a consciousness which is a discursive category for multicultural or cross-cultural, focusing on the concept of liminality/interstitiality

  • Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to analyze the case of the transparent PET bottle resource circulation project of BYN Black Yak Co., Ltd., present implications, and propose ways to spread it in the future. Methods: In this study, the logic of the Double Diamond Model is applied to analyze the development process of sustainable fashion made from BYN Black Yak Co., Ltd.'s PET Bottle Resource Circulation System. Results: The K-rPET Resource Circulation Project of BYN Black Yak Co., Ltd. is recognized as a best example for its contribution to eco-friendly activities, solving social problems, raising consumer awareness, and sharing recycling habits. Before the plastic bottle becomes a garment, five steps are taken (discharge of PET bottle → collection of PET bottle → recycling of PET bottle → fabrication of yarn → production of the finished product out of the fabric). BYN Black Yak Co., Ltd. has successfully commercialized it by recycling reverse-recovery PET bottles by making solutions to problems that have not been solved at each stage. Conclusion: In addition to efforts to find and strengthen weak links presented in the Theory of Constrains (TOC), it appears to have systematically carried out activities to convert stakeholder discomforts into a package of gain points. As shown in the slogan "We are all in!" the proposal and implementation for the completion of a true environmental system is judged to have truly performed ESG management well for the company's business. ESG management activities at BYN Black Yak Co., Ltd. are expected to continue.

  • Background and Objectives : Positional OSAS is characterized by an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) score >5, which, while sleeping in the supine position, is double that in non-supine position. This study was performed to compare the clinical characteristics of positional OSAS and non-positional OSAS patients, and the effects of the modified jaw thrust maneuver during drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE) between positional OSAS and non-positional OSAS patients. Materials and Methods : 68 positional OSAS patients and 19 non-positional OSAS patients were included. They all underwent full-night polysomnography and DISE. The modified jaw thrust maneuver was introduced during DISE. Airway structural changes induced by the modified jaw thrust maneuver were evaluated and documented. Results : There were no statistically significant differences in Friedman stage or tonsil grade, body mass index, Epworth sleepiness scale (ESS) score, blood pressure, AHI, or obstructive pattern between the positional and non-positional OSAS patients. However, mean arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2), lowest SaO2, and total arousal index values were more severe in the non-positional OSAS patients. After introduction of the modified jaw thrust maneuver, retrolingual level obstruction showed a tendency toward a higher rate of airway opening in positional OSAS patients than in non-positional OSAS patients. Conclusions : The effects of a mandibular advancement device (MAD) can be estimated by carrying out a modified jaw thrust maneuver during DISE. The tendency toward a higher rate of airway opening in positional OSAS patients than non-positional OSAS patients in retrolingual level obstruction after jaw thrust maneuver introduced during DISE may be clinically important for MAD.

  • Parodos, the side entrances to orchestra (acting space), was one of the intrinsic elements for the ancient Greek theatre structure. It is worth noting that parodos was the sole structural component that remained the original form while all the other elements such as orchestra, skene, and theatron experienced drastic or gradual changes in form throughout the passage of time. On the reason for parodo's maintenance of the original form, this study suggests a possibility that parodos could be the most intrinsic among the elements for Greek theatre buildings. For evidence, this paper indicates the historical fact that the procession tradition was the key event in the national or civic festival known as City Dionysia, and that the single-direction passageway, as seen in the Panathenaic Way passing through the City Athens, could be the easiest and most efficient way to realize the cause for the procession tradition that is the citizens' participation and subsequent unification. This study suggests another possibility that the single-direction passageway in the procession could be the archetype of parodos. For evidence, this study finds that this type of passageway was ubiquitous around the City Athens especially in the Agora, the most popular place in the city and the gateway to the processional event for Dionysian Cult as well as the space for the earliest Greek theatricality and, therefore, was familiar to the citizens. From the discussion, this paper argues that the Greek theatre should be the miniature of the Agora in terms of form (single-direction passageway) and function (civic participation and unification), and that parodos was the theatrical version of the processional passageway in the Dionysian Cult. In conclusion, this paper argues that parodos played a double role. It satisfied the theatrical necessity by functioning as the passageway to dramatic action (entrance and exit of actor/chorus) and as the literal door for the entrance of the audience members. At the same time, it satisfied the social cause, that is civic participation and subsequent unification, by functioning as the processional passage to relay the theatre space to civic events for the national religious cult.

  • Copper is used in many electronic components and construction parts due to its excellent electrical conductivity and heat transfer characteristics, and also used for pre-plating for double layer coating such as nickel, so that copper is an essential material in modern industry. Despite the expected increase of usage and importance on wiring, sensors and data equipment in the next generation industries, it is hard for securing stable copper supply and resource management resulting from the copper prices are fluctuating owing to the economic crisis in Europe, the low economic growth trend in China, and President Trump's commitment to public industrial facilities investment in U.S.. Since most of the domestic copper consumption is used by electrolytic copper cathode, we studied not only copper recycling technology which is being commercialized but also current research trend under the research stage. This study aims to examine the characteristics of each process and the areas where future recycling technology development is required.

  • The history of tall buildings begins in 1853with the development of elevators. After the Industrial Revolution of the 18th century, the development of high-rise buildings will be carried out in earnest as a means to efficiently use the limited land of cities. The development, which began around Chicago, extended over a long period of time to Asia, maximizing the high competition. However, in the 2000s, not only was it high due to the development of construction and digital technology, but it also became competitive in eco-friendly elements and unstructured forms. High-rise building plans that have gained elemental and morphological diversity are completed by the interrelationships of various plans. Among them, it is important that the core plan has a reasonable approach from the initial planning stage as the basis for the vertical copper plan linking vertically-intensive functions. The cores should be designed to be clear and adequately responsive to changes in the shape of the building. This study aims to provide designers with a reasonable understanding of core planning by identifying core characteristics of irregular high-rise. In particular, we want to analyze the shape of the ground layer core and the relationship between the area and components of the ground layer core. The analysis results are as follows, classified according to the type or use of the building. Of the atypical forms composed of double bending, the TAPER-Curve and TWIST forms are the most distributed, and the plane and core shapes of the ground floor are the most commonly used. Based on the analysis of the validity of the ground floor cores by shape of the cores, the most commonly used forms for core shapes in the planning of the atypical high-rise are square, circular and Oval, and the most efficient oval cores and relatively inefficient ones when planned.

  • In the era of the 4th industrial revolution driven by the convergence of ICT(information and communication technology) and manufacturing, research on smart factories is being actively conducted. In particular, the manufacturing industry prefers smart factories that autonomously connect and analyze data. For the efficient implementation of smart factories, it is essential to have an integrated production system that vertically integrates separately operated production equipment and heterogeneous S/W systems such as ERP, MES. In addition, it is necessary to double-verify production data by using automatic data collection technology so that the production process can be traced transparently. In this study, we want to show a case of data-centered integration of a large aircraft parts processing factory that requires high precision, takes a long time, and has the characteristics of processing large raw materials. For this, the components of the data-oriented integrated production system were identified and the connection structure between them was explained. And we would like to share the experience gained through the design and implementation case. The integrated production system proposed in this study integrates internal components based on data, which is expected to serve as a basis for SMEs to develop into an advanced stage, and traces materials with RFID technology.
