Two donor-acceptor-donor monomers such as 3,5-bis(4-bromophenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole (BOB) and 3,5-bis(5-bromothiophen-2-yl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole (TOT) incorporating electron transporting and hole blocking 1,2,4-oxadiazloe moiety were copolymerized with light emitting fluorene derivative via Suzuki polycondensation to afford two new polymers, PFBOB and PFTOT, respectively. The optical studies for polymers PFBOB and PFTOT revealed that the band gaps are 3.10 eV and 2.72 eV, respectively, and polymer PFBOB exhibited a deep-blue emission while polymer PFTOT showed blue emission in chloroform and as thin film. The photoluminescence quantum efficiencies (${\Phi}_f$) of polymers PFBOB and PFTOT in chloroform calculated against highly blue emitting 9,10-diphenylanthracene (DPA, ${\Phi}_f=0.90$) were 1.00 and 0.44, respectively.

A series of vinyl monomers and their saturated model compounds containing different chromophores were synthesized. These monomers display strong intra-molecular fluorescence quenching, their fluorescence quantum yields and lifetimes are generally lower than those of their model compounds. It was found that the C=C bonds in these monomers played a key role in the intra-molecular quenching, which was confirmed by intermolecular fluorescence quenching and time-resolved fluorescence studies. On the basis of the intra-molecular quenching, a new fluorescence approach can be developed to monitor the process of the polymerization and curing of bismaleimides, which can directly reflect the C=C bond consumption during polymerization and curing.

Studies on attractive color changing property of dye chromophore and fluorophore have been greatly enjoyed in the related industrial and research fields such as optoelectronics, chemosensor, biosensor and so on. The optical property based on D-$\Pi$-A intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) system of chromophore molecules can be utilized as suitable sensing probes for checking media polarity and determining colorimetric chemosensing effect, especially heavy metal detection. These finding are obtained by absorption and emission properties. In this work, donor-acceptor D-$\Pi$-A type fluorescent dyes were designed and synthesized with the corresponding donor and acceptor groups. The selected donor moieties might be provided prominent amorphous properties which are very useful in designing and synthesizing functional polymers and in fabricating devices. Another reasons to choose are commercial availabilities in high purity and low price. Donor-bridge-acceptor (D-A) type dyes can produce impressive optical-physical properties, yielding them potentially suitable for applications in the synthesis of small functional organic molecules. Small organic functional molecules have unique advantages, such as better solubility, amorphous character, and represent an area of research which needs to be explored and developed. Currently, their applications in metalorganic compounds is rapidly expanding and becoming widespread in self-assembly processes, photoluminescence applications, chiral organocatalysts, and ingrafts with nanomaterials. Colloidal nanoparticles have received great attentions in recent years. The photophysical properties of nanoparticles, particularly in terms of brightness, photostability, emission color purity and broad adsorption range, are very attractive functions in many applications. To our knowledge background, colloidal nanoparticles have been enjoyed their applications in bio-probe research fields. This research interest can be raised by the advantages of the materials such as high photoluminescence quantum yields, sharp emission band, long-term photostability and broad excitation spectra. In recent, the uses of nanoparticles being embedded in a polymer matrix and binded on polymer surface have been explored and their properties such as photo-activation and strong photoluminescence have been proposed. The prepared chromophores and nanoparticles were investigated with absorption and emission properties, solvatochromic behaviors, pH induced color switching effects, chemosensing effects and HOMO/LUMO energy potentials with computer simulation. In addition, synthesized fluorophore dyes and particles were applied onto PE/Aramid fiber fluorescing colorations. And the related details were then discussed.
In this study, we presented a newly synthesized pyrene-naphthalene diimide(NDI)-pyrene triad. The optical and structural properties were examined using various characterization techniques. A donor-acceptor-donor triad molecule exhibited a strong charge transfer, though there existed neither intramolecular nor intermolecular hydrogen bonding sites, due to the formation of preferential complementary complex between pyrene and NDI. Powder XRD measurement revealed a sharp and distinctive X-ray patterns, indicating the presence of microcrystalline-like structure. POM images showed anisotropic fingerprint texture similar to that of cholesteric phase, and SEM images showed numerous columnar structures with length of 1 to $10{\mu}m$. Above observation clearly demonstrated that ${\pi}$-complementary NDI-pyrene interactions in the traid was strong enough to form columnar aggregates in the long range.

In organic opto-electronic applications, such as light emitting diodes (LEDs) and photovoltaic devices (PVDs), the morphology of the active layer is of crucial importance. To control the morphology of the active layer the self-assembling properties of block copolymers was used. Several rod-coil semiconducting diblock copolymers consisting of a conjugated block and a second coil block functionalized with electron transporting and/or accepting materials (such as $C_{60}$) were synthesized. The conjugated block acting as light absorbing, electron donating and hole transporting material. The donor/acceptor photovoltaic devices performance with active layer the above mentioned semiconducting block copolymers will be presented.

We prepared nonlinear optical (NLO) polymers possessing thermal and temporal stability, which were based on the polyimides appended with NLO chromophores. NLO chromophores with a terminal hydroxyl group have been synthesized by coupling between aminobenzene or julolidine donor and phenylene bridge, and then subsequent coupling between the resulting product and tricyanofuran acceptor. The chromophores were chemically bonded to the polyimides backbone through Mitsunobu reaction. The NLO polymers showed $160-170^{\circ}C$ of Tgs and were thermally stable up to $200^{\circ}C$. We obtained optical quality films by spincoating and evaluated their electro-optical properties and temporal stability.

Photo-/electroactive donor-acceptor (D-A) chromophores were synthesized and investigated for energy- and electron-transfer (ET/eT) properties, for which the chromophores are supramolecularly integrated by encapsulation with helical amylose, rendering the chromophores aggregation-free and rigidified along the helical axis and thus, a remarkably enhanced fluorescence intensity. Fluorescence quenching studies indicated that the helical encapsulation gives the ET/eT a clear D-A distance dependence unlike with the encapsulation-free counterparts, being reflected in their florescence decay profile. Another notable difference is that the helical supramolecule of the chromophores forms a perpendicularly oriented self-assembly. Transport behavior in the solid state will be also discussed.

For the polymer tandem cell, simple and advantaged solution-based method to electron transport intermediate layer is presented which are composed $TiO_2$ nanoparticles. Device were based on a regioregular Poly(3-hexylthiophene)(P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl $C_{61}$ butyric acid methyl ester($PC_{60}BM$) blend as a donor and acceptor bulk-heterojunction. For the middle electrode interlayer, the $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were well dispersed in ethanol solution and formed thin layer on the P3HT:PCBM charge separation layer by spin coating. The layer serves as the electron transport layer and divides the polymer tandem solar cell. The open-circuit voltage (Voc) for the polymer tandem solar cells was closed to the sum of those of individual cells.
The energy transfer from photoexcited polyvinylcarbazole (PVK) chromophores with a bandgap of 3.7 eV as a donor to fluorophores of poly(dihexylfluorenevinylene) (PDHFV) or poly(dihexylfluorenedihexoxyphenylenevinylene) (PDHFHPV) as an acceptor in bilayered specimens should be carried out since the spectral overlap pairs fulfills the requirement for the $F{\"{o}}rster-type$ condition. However, the energy transfer rate from the chromophores with a wider bandgap to the fluorophores with a narrower bandgap is proved to be strongly dependent on the lifetime ratio between the excitons.
