A coelostat is often used for solar observations, because it corrects the image rotation automatically by guiding sunlight into a fixed telescope with two plane mirrors. For the purposes of education and spectroscopic observation, the solar group at Seoul National University (SNU) plans to develop the SNU coelostat (SNUC) and install it in the SNU Astronomical Observatory (SAO). Requirements of the SNUC are < 1" positioning accuracy with 30 cm beam size on the entrance pupil in the compact dome. To allow for installation in the small dome, we design a compact slope type coelostat with a 45 cm primary plane mirror and a 39 cm secondary plane mirror. The motion of the SNUC is minimized by fixing the position of the slope frame. Numerical simulations of the available observational time of the designed coelostat shows that the sun can be observed ay all times from June to early August and at least three hours in other months. Since the high accuracy driving motors installed in the SNUC can be affected by external environment factors such as humidity and temperature variations, we design a prototype to test the significance of these effects. The prototype consists of a 20 cm primary plane mirror, a 1 m slope rail, a direct drive motor, a ballscrew, a linear motion guide, an AC servo motor, a reduction gear and a linear encoder. We plan to control and test the accuracy of the prototype with varying atmospheric conditions in early 2019. After testing the prototype, the SNUC will be manufactured and installed in SAO by 2020.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the variation of radiation dose distribution for liver tumor located in liver dome and for the interest organs(normal liver, kidney, stomach) with the pencil beam convolution (PBC) algorithm versus anisotropic Analyticalal algorithm (AAA) of the Varian Eclipse treatment planning system, The target volumes from 20 liver cancer patients were used to create treatment plans. Treatment plans for 10 patients were performed in Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) plan and others were performed in 3 Dimensional Conformal Radiation Therapy (3DCRT) plan. dose calculation was recalculated by AAA algorithm after dose calculation was performed by PBC algorithm for 20 patients. Plans were optimized to 100% of the PTV by the Prescription Isodose in Dose Calculation with the PBC algorithm. Plans were recalculated with the AAA, retaining identical beam arrangements, monitor units, field weighting and collimator condition. In this study, Total PTV was to be statistically significant (SRS: p=0.018, 3DCRT: p=0.006) between PBC and AAA algorithm. and in the case of PTV, ITV in liver dome, plans for 3DCRT were to be statistically significant respectively (p=0.013, p=0.024). normal liver and kidney were to be statistically significant (p=0.009, p=0.037). For the predictive index of dose variation, CVF ratio was to be statistically significant for PTV in the liver dome versus PTV (SRS r=0.684, 3DCRT r=0.732, p<0.01) and CVF ratio for Tumor size was to be statistically significant (SRS r=-0.193, p=0.017, 3DCRT r=0.237, p=0.023).

Calculation program to predict required pressurant mass for propellant tank was verified through flight test data. This program was already developed and verified through ground test data, but to increase reliability of program, it was compared with flight test data of KSR-III launched in 2002. Because pressurant temperature incoming to propellant tank was not measured in flight test, that was assumed in calculation program. Required pressurant mass and inside temperature of oxygen tank dome was compared. Validation of calculation program was verified by showing required pressurant mass accuracy of 6%.

The preliminary design and performance test were carried out for determining dimensions of gas turbine combustor. The combustor design program was developed and applied to design our combustor, and the specific dimensions for swirler, dome and liner holes were determined by the semiempirical manner. Based on the first performance test data, the swirl angle governing the combustion characteristics of primary combustor zone was determined as 40 deg.. Using the second performance test data, the swirler dimensions were readjusted by 24 mm i.d., 34 mm o.d., and swirl angle of 45 deg.. The geometry of liner holes were determined by considering the flame stability and recirculation zone size. It was found that flame can be more easily stabilized by adjusting the swirler dimensions rather than liner holes. The geometry of swirler and liner holes were readjusted by using the final performance test data with dilution holes. Also, the combustor performance and emission characteristics were evaluated by analysis of exhaust gases.

In this study, a new rupture disk corrosion test (RDCT) method was developed for real-time detection of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) initiation of Alloy 600 in a primary water environment of pressurized water reactors. In the RDCT method, one side of a disk specimen was exposed to a simulated primary water at high temperature and pressure while the other side was maintained at ambient pressure, inducing a dome-shaped deformation and tensile stress on the specimen. When SCC occurs in the primary water environment, it leads to the specimen rupture or water leakage through the specimen, which can be detected in real-time using a pressure gauge. The tensile stress applied to the disk specimen was calculated using a finite element analysis. The tensile stress was calculated to increase as the specimen thickness decreased. The SCC initiation time of the specimen was evaluated by the RDCT method, from which result it was found that the crack initiation time decreased with the decrease of specimen thickness owing to the increase of applied stress. After the SCC initiation test, many cracks were observed on the specimen surface in an intergranular fracture mode, which is a typical characteristic of SCC in the primary water environment.

The fuel storage vessel installed in CNG vehicles can be largely divided into 3 parts: head, cylinder, and dome. Studies of the cylinder and dome parts have already been performed, but sufficient design data is not available about the head part. Therefore, expert field engineers heavily depend upon trial-and-error methods. Therefore, FE analysis is performed to review the hot spinning process for forming the head part of the CNG vessel using the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) method. The effects of forming factors on the load were analyzed. The values of the factors were chosen to avoid defects in the head part and buckling, and the forming feasibility of the head part was investigated. Furthermore, a bursting test was performed to evaluate the safety of the storage vessel.

In this paper, tensile test was performed on pure titanium sheet (CP Ti sheet) with HCP structure in each direction to evaluate mechanical and surface properties and analyze microstructural changes during plastic deformation. We also evaluated forming limits of Ti direction in dome-type punch stretching test using a non-contact three-dimensional optical measurement system. As a result, it was revealed the pure titanium sheet has strong anisotropic property in yield stress, stress-strain curve and anisotropy coefficient according to direction. It was revealed that twinning occurred when the pure titanium sheet was plastic deformed, and tendency depends differently on direction and deformation mode. Moreover, this seems to affect the physical properties and deformation of the material. In addition, it was revealed the pure titanium sheet had different surface roughness changes in 0 degree direction and 90 degree direction due to large difference of anisotropy, and this affects the forming limit. It was revealed the forming limit of each direction obtained through the punch stretching test gave higher value in 90 degree direction compared with forming limit in 0 degree direction.

This study performed the progressive failure analysis of adhesive joints of a composite pressure vessel with a separated dome by using a cohesive zone model. In order to determine the input parameters of a cohesive element for numerical analysis, the interlaminar fracture toughness values in modes I and II and in the mixed mode for the adhesive joints of the composite pressure vessel were obtained by a material test. All specimens were manufactured by the filament winding method. A mechanical test was performed on adhesively bonded double-lap joints to determine the shear strength of the adhesive joints and verify the reliability of the cohesive zone model for progressive failure analysis. The test results showed that the shear strength of the adhesive joints was 32MPa; the experiment and analysis results had an error of about 4.4%, indicating their relatively good agreement. The progressive failure analysis of a composite pressure vessel with an adhesively bonded dome performed using the cohesive zone model showed that only 5.8% of the total adhesive length was debonded and this debonded length did not affect the structural integrity of the vessel.
The fiber material properties, elastic constant and strength, are the most important factors among the various material properties for the design of composite pressure vessel, because of it's dominant influence on the performance of composite pressure vessel. That is, the deformation and burst pressure of pressure vessel highly affected by the fiber material properties. Therefore, the establishment of test method for exact fiber material properties is a priority item to design a composite pressure vessel. However, the fiber material properties in filament wound pressure vessel is very sensitive on various processing variables (equipment, operator and environmental condition etc..) and size effect, so that it isn't possible to measure exact fiber material properties from existing test methods. The hydro-burst test with full scale pressure vessel is a best method to obtain fiber material properties, but it requires a enormous cost. Thus, this paper suggests a newly developed test method, hoop ring test, that is capable of pressure testing with ring specimens extracted from real composite pressure vessel. The fiber material properties from hoop ring test method showed good agreement with the results of hydro-burst test with full scale composite pressure vessels.

The importance and the interest of wind load have emphasized since the damage of the Jeju World cup Stadium and Main Stadium of Busan Asiad in 2002, and the appearance of high-rise buildings. In general, a evaluation for the wind load acting on structures have been carried out mainly through the wind tunnel test, but this technique has the huge shortcomings that consume too much cost and experimental time. However, with the rapid advances on computers, it is possible to analyze the wind pressure distribution acting on structures by numerical scheme. In this paper, to predict the wind pressure distribution acting on shell structures having the various shape by numerical simulation, governing equations of fluid flow and turbulent model is formulated. Also, evaluates the wind pressure coefficient in accordance with the structural shape for shell structures like as a membrane structures and dome structures.
