  • Distributed mobility management (DMM) does not use a centralized device. Its mobility functions are distributed among routers; therefore, the mobility services are not limited to the performance and reliability of specific mobility management equipment. The DMM scheme has been studied as a partially distributed architecture, which distributes only a packet delivery domain in combination with the software defined network (SDN) technology that separates the packet delivery and control areas. Particularly, a separated control area is advantageous in introducing a new service, thereby optimizing the network by recognizing the entire network situation and taking an optimal decision. The SDN-based mobility management scheme is studied as a method to optimize the packet delivery path whenever a mobile node moves; however, it results in excessive signaling processing cost. To reduce the high signaling cost, we propose a hybrid distributed mobility management method and analyze its performance mathematically.

  • We employ a three-dimensional indirect boundary element method (BEM) to simulate temperature change around an underground liquefied natural gas storage cavern. The indirect BEM (IBEM) uses fictitious heat source strength on boundary elements as basic variables which are solved from equations of boundary conditions and then used to compute the temperature change at other points in the considered problem domain. The IBEM requires evaluation of singular integration for temperature change due to heat conduction from a constant heat source on a planar (triangular) region. The singularity can be eliminated by a semi-analytical integration scheme. However, it is found that the semi-analytical integration scheme yields sharp temperature gradient for points close to vertices of triangle. This affects the accuracy of heat flux, if they are evaluated by finite difference method at these points. This difficulty can be overcome by a combination of using a direct numerical integration for these points and the semi-analytical scheme for other points distance away from the vertices. The IBEM and the hybrid integration scheme have been verified with an analytic solution and then used to the application of the underground storage.

  • The focus of this paper is on the numerical investigation of obliquely incident wane interactions with a system composed of full submerged and floating dual buoy/vertical-flexible-membrane breakwaters placed in parallel with spacing. The fully submerged systems allow surface and bottom clearances to enable wave transmission over and under the system. The problem is formulated based on the two-dimensional multi-domain hydro-elastic linear wave-body interaction theory. The hydrodynamic interaction of oblique incident waves with the combination of the rigid and flexible bodies was solved by the distribution of the simple sources (modified Bessel function of fille second kind) tat satisfy the Helmholz governing equation. Using this computer program, the performance of various dual systems varying buoy radiuses and drafts, membrane lengths, clearances. spacing, mooring-lines stiffness, mooring types, water depth, and wave characteristics is thoroughly examined. It is found that the fully submerged and floating dual buoy/membrane breakwaters call, if it is properly tuned to the coming waves, have good performances ill reflecting the obliquely incident waves over a tilde range of wave frequency and headings.

  • As Sensor plays an important part in day-to-day life. Sensors are used almost in each domain wherein humans are not able to sense or measure some parameters. Say from sensing a real-time activity of a person to sensing the tiny molecules of any gas or structures. Now sensors combined with advanced fabrication techniques with nanotechnology can be said as a game-changing combination. As the modern world is evolving every minute, the size of the components, instruments, and different equipment is shrinking rapidly. For example, the sensor or any other element which was used 10 years ago is reduced up to 5 times its original size and all of this is possible because of continuous advancement done in the manufacturing and fabrication techniques that are being used nowadays. Apart from this, it is not necessary that the term nano should only justify the size of the sensor. Nanotechnologically fabricated, refers to a sensor or any other element which may be large enough as compared to the regular one but they may be structured using some nano-particles.

  • This research deals with the study of two-dimensional deformation in transversely isotropic thermoelastic diffusion medium. This investigation integrates the effect of diffusion and thermal effects in transversely isotropic thermoelastic solids under inclined load. Inclined load is taken as linear combination of normal load and tangential load. Laplace and Fourier transformation techniques are employed to transform the physical domain and then transformed solutions are inverted with the aid of numerical inversion techniques. Concentrated and distributed load are considered to exemplify its utility. Graphical representation of variation in displacement, stresses, temperature and concentration distribution with distance is depicted by taking inclination at different angles. Some particular cases are studied.

  • This research paper explores the application of FinBERT, a variational BERT-based model pre-trained on financial domain, for sentiment analysis in the financial domain while focusing on the process of identifying suitable training data and hyperparameters. Our goal is to offer a comprehensive guide on effectively utilizing the FinBERT model for accurate sentiment analysis by employing various datasets and fine-tuning hyperparameters. We outline the architecture and workflow of the proposed approach for fine-tuning the FinBERT model in this study, emphasizing the performance of various datasets and hyperparameters for sentiment analysis tasks. Additionally, we verify the reliability of GPT-3 as a suitable annotator by using it for sentiment labeling tasks. Our results show that the fine-tuned FinBERT model excels across a range of datasets and that the optimal combination is a learning rate of 5e-5 and a batch size of 64, which perform consistently well across all datasets. Furthermore, based on the significant performance improvement of the FinBERT model with our Twitter data in general domain compared to our news data in general domain, we also express uncertainty about the model being further pre-trained only on financial news data. We simplify the complex process of determining the optimal approach to the FinBERT model and provide guidelines for selecting additional training datasets and hyperparameters within the fine-tuning process of financial sentiment analysis models.

  • This study investigated the mechanisms underlying the anti-cancer effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in human cancer cells in combination with either N-[N-(3, 5-difluorophenacetyl)-L-alanyl]-S-phenylglycine t-butyl ester (DAPT), a γ-secretase inhibitor, or MHY2245, a new synthetic sirtuin 1 inhibitor. The results showed both DAPT and MHY2245 as novel chemosensitizers of human colon cancer KM12 and human hepatocellular carcinoma SNU475 cells to NSAIDs involving celecoxib and 2, 5-dimethyl celecoxib. The NSAID-induced cytotoxicity of these cells was significantly increased by DAPT and MHY2245 in a cyclooxygenase-2 independent manner. In addition, DAPT and MHY2245 reduced levels of p62, Notch1 intracellular domain, and multiple cancer stemness (CS)-related markers including Notch1, CD44, CD133, octamer-binding transcription factor 4, mutated p53 and c-Myc. However, the level of activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4) was enhanced, probably indicating the down-regulation of multiple CS-related markers by DAPT or MHY2245-mediated autophagy induction. Moreover, the NSAID-mediated reduction of p62/nuclear factor erythroid-derived 2-like 2 and CS-related marker proteins and the up-regulation of C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP)/ATF4 were accelerated by DAPT and MHY2245. As such, the combination of NSAID and either DAPT or MHY2245 resulted in higher cytotoxicity than NSAID alone by accelerating the down-regulation of multiple CS-related markers and PARP activation, indicating that both inhibitors promote NSAID-mediated autophagic cell death, possibly through the CHOP/ATF4 pathway. In conclusion, either combination strategy may be useful for the effective treatment of human cancer cells expressing CS-related markers.

  • With the recognition of the importance of computational approach for protein-protein interaction prediction, many techniques have been developed to computationally predict protein-protein interactions. However, few techniques are actually implemented and announced in service form for general users to readily access and use the techniques. In this paper, we design and implement a protein interaction prediction service system based on the domain combination based protein-protein interaction prediction technique, which is known to show superior accuracy to other conventional computational protein-protein interaction prediction methods. In the prediction accuracy test of the method, high sensitivity($77\%$) and specificity($95\%$) are achieved for test protein pairs containing common domains with teaming sets of proteins in a Yeast. The stability of the method is also manifested through the testing over DIP CORE, HMS-PCI, and TAP data. Performance, openness and flexibility are the major design goals and they are achieved by adopting parallel execution techniques, web Services standards, and layered architecture respectively. In this paper, several representative user interfaces of the system are also introduced with comprehensive usage guides.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop geochemical tracers to identify a specific source desert of mineral dust in China using the published data. In addition, we tested the applicability of these tracers to wet-deposits and soil samples collected in Jeju, Korea. Because of similarity in trace elemental compositions of mineral dust from the major arid regions in China, such as Taklimakan, West Ordos (Badain Jaran), East Ordos (Mu Us and Hobq), East Northern China (Horqin), West Northern China (Gurbantunggut), and Chinese Loess Plateau, there has been limited to the use of geochemical data for source identification. Here we propose the four (4) plots using combination of seven (7) geochemical variables as a source indicator to distinguish one from other source regions in China: $\frac{Y}{Tb_N}$ vs. $\frac{Th}{{\Sigma}REE_N}$, $\(\frac{La}{Gd}\)_N$ vs. $\frac{Y}{{\Sigma}REE_N}$, $\frac{Th}{Tb_N}$ vs. $\frac{Y}{Nd_N}$, and $\frac{Th}{Tb_N}$ vs. $\(\frac{Ce}{Ce}\)_N^*$, where $_N$ and $\(\frac{Ce}{Ce}\)_N^*$ stand for values normalized to Post-Archean Average Shale composition and Ce anomaly, respectively. Mineral dusts from aforementioned six major deserts are distinguished one from the others by the combined use of these variables. Jeju rock and soil samples form a separate domain from Chinese mineral dusts in all four plots. In contrast, most of Jeju dust samples were comparable with the West Ordos desert (Badain Jaran) domain, indicative of strong influence of Badain Jaran dust in Jeju in spring season when the mineral dust was collected. A weak positive Ce anomaly in Jeju samples implies minimal local contribution. Our study suggests that the combination of $\frac{Y}{Tb_N}$ vs. $\frac{Th}{{\Sigma}REE_N}$, $\(\frac{La}{Gd}\)_N$ vs. $\frac{Y}{{\Sigma}REE_N}$, $\frac{Th}{Tb_N}$ vs. $\frac{Y}{Nd_N}$, and $\frac{Th}{Tb_N}$ vs. $\(\frac{Ce}{Ce}\)_N^*$ can be used to identify a specific source region of mineral dust in China as well as Jeju mineral particles.

  • LysR-type transcriptional regulators (LTTRs) contain an N-terminal DNA binding domain (DBD) and a C-terminal regulatory domain (RD). Typically, LTTRs function as homotetramers. VV2_1132 was identified in Vibrio vulnificus as an LTTR that is a homologue of HypT (also known as YjiE or QseD) in Escherichia coli. In this study, we determined the crystal structure of full-length VV2_1132 at a resolution of $2.2{\AA}$, thereby revealing a novel combination of the domains in the tetrameric assembly. Only one DBD dimer in the tetramer can bind to DNA, because the DNA binding motifs of the other DBD dimer are completely buried in the tetrameric assembly. Structural and functional analyses of VV2_1132 suggest that it might not perform the same role as E. coli HypT, indicating that further study is required to elucidate the function of this gene in V. vulnificus. The unique structure of VV2_1132 extends our knowledge of LTTR function and mechanisms of action.
