World Wide Web (WWW) use has been increasing recently due to users needing more information. Lately, there has been a growing trend in the document information available to end users through the internet. The web's document search process is essential to find relevant documents for user queries. As the number of general web pages increases, it becomes increasingly challenging for users to find records that are appropriate to their interests. However, using existing Document Information Retrieval (DIR) approaches is time-consuming for large document collections. To alleviate the problem, this novel presents Spatial Clustering Ranking Pattern (SCRP) based Density Ant Colony Information Retrieval (DACIR) for user queries based DIR. The proposed first stage is the Term Frequency Weight (TFW) technique to identify the query weightage-based frequency. Based on the weight score, they are grouped and ranked using the proposed Spatial Clustering Ranking Pattern (SCRP) technique. Finally, based on ranking, select the most relevant information retrieves the document using DACIR algorithm. The proposed method outperforms traditional information retrieval methods regarding the quality of returned objects while performing significantly better in run time.
This paper proposes a probabilistic document ranking model incorporating term dependencies. Document ranking is a fundamental information retrieval task. The task is to sort documents in a collection according to the relevance to the user query (Qin et al., Information Retrieval Journal, 13, 346-374, 2010). A probabilistic model is a model for computing the conditional probability of the relevance of each document given query. Most of the widely used models assume the term independence because it is challenging to compute the joint probabilities of multiple terms. Words in natural language texts are obviously highly correlated. In this paper, we assume a multinomial distribution model to calculate the relevance probability of a document by considering the dependency structure of words, and propose an information retrieval model to rank a document by estimating the probability with the maximum entropy method. The results of the ranking simulation experiment in various multinomial situations show better retrieval results than a model that assumes the independence of words. The results of document ranking experiments using real-world datasets LETOR OHSUMED also show better retrieval results.

This study specifically reviewed the performance of the ranking schemes as an efficient feature selection method for text classification. Until now, feature ranking schemes are mostly based on document frequency, and relatively few cases have used the term frequency. Therefore, the performance of single ranking metrics using term frequency and document frequency individually was examined as a feature selection method for text classification, and then the performance of combination ranking schemes using both was reviewed. Specifically, a classification experiment was conducted in an environment using two data sets (Reuters-21578, 20NG) and five classifiers (SVM, NB, ROC, TRA, RNN), and to secure the reliability of the results, 5-Fold cross-validation and t-test were applied. As a result, as a single ranking scheme, the document frequency-based single ranking metric (chi) showed good performance overall. In addition, it was found that there was no significant difference between the highest-performance single ranking and the combination ranking schemes. Therefore, in an environment where sufficient learning documents can be secured in text classification, it is more efficient to use a single ranking metric (chi) based on document frequency as a feature selection method.
XML Keyword search enables us to get information easily without knowledge of structure of documents and returns specific and useful partial document results instead of whole documents. Element level query processing makes it possible, but computational complexity, as the number of documents grows, increases significantly overhead costs. In this paper, we present document-level ranking scheme over XML documents which predicts results of element-level processing to reduce processing cost. To do this, we propose the notion of 'keyword proximity' - the correlation of keywords in a document that affects the results of element-level query processing using path information of occurrence nodes and their resemblances - for document ranking process. In benefit of document-centric view, it is possible to reduce processing time using ranked document list or filtering of low scored documents. Our experimental evaluation shows that document-level processing technique using ranked document list is effective and improves performance by the early termination for top-k query.

In recent years various document ranking methods such as Relevance. R-Distance and K-Distance have been developed wh~ch can be used in thesaurus-based boolean retrieval systems. They give high quality document rankings in many cases by using term dependence lnformatlon from a thesaurus. However, they suffer from several problems resulting from inefficient and Ineffective evaluation of boolean operators AND. OR and NOT. In this paper we propose new thesaurus-based document ranking methods called KB-FSM and KB-EBM by exploitmg the enhanced fuzzy set model and the extended boolean model. The proposed methods overcome the problems of the previous methods and use term dependencies from a thesaurs effectively. We also show through performance comparison that KB-FSM and KBEBM provide higher retrieval effectiveness than Relevance. R-D~stance and K-Distance.
XML is broadly using for data storing and processing. XML is specified its structural characteristic and user can query with XPath when information from data document is needed. XPath query can process when the tern and structure of document and query is matched with each other. However, nowadays there are lots of data documents which are made by using different terminology and structure therefore user can not know the exact idea of target data. In fact, there are many possibilities that target data document has information which user is find or a similar ones. Accordingly user query should be processed when their term usage or structural characteristic is slightly different with data document. In order to do that we suggest a XML document ranking method based on path similarity. The method can measure a semantic similarity between user query and data document using three steps which are position, node and relaxation factors.
Document summarization aims to generate a summary that is consistent and contains the highly related sentences in a document. In this study, we implemented for document summarization that extracts highly related sentences from a whole document by considering both similarities and entailment relations between sentences. Accordingly, we proposed a new algorithm, TextRank-NLI, which combines a Recurrent Neural Network based Natural Language Inference model and a Graph-based ranking algorithm used in single document extraction-based summarization task. In order to evaluate the performance of the new algorithm, we conducted experiments using the same datasets as used in TextRank algorithm. The results indicated that TextRank-NLI showed 2.3% improvement in performance, as compared to TextRank.
Because existing information retrieval systems, in particular library retrieval systems, use 'exact keyword matching' with user's query, they present user with massive results including irrelevant information. So, a user spends extra effort and time to get the relevant information from the results. Thus, this paper will propose SULRM a Retrieval Model using Subject Classification Table, User profile, and LSI(Latent Semantic Indexing), to provide more relevant results. SULRM uses document filtering technique for classified data and document ranking technique for non-classified data in the results of keyword-based retrieval. Filtering technique uses Subject Classification Table, and ranking technique uses user profile and LSI. And, we have performed experiments on the performance of filtering technique, user profile updating method, and document ranking technique using the results of information retrieval system of our university' digital library system. In case that many documents are retrieved proposed techniques are able to provide user with filtered data and ranked data according to user's subject and preference.
Most Web search engines use ranking methods that take both the relevancy and the importance of documents into consideration. The importance of a document denotes the degree of usefulness of the document to general users. One of the most successful methods for estimating the importance of a document has been Page-Rank algorithm which uses the hyperlink structure of the Web for the estimation. In this paper, we propose a new importance estimation algorithm for the blog environment. The proposed method, first, calculates the importance of each document using user's bookmark and click count. Then, the Guru point of a blogger is computed as the sum of all importance points of documents which he/she wrote. Finally, the guru points are reflected in document ranking again. Our experiments show that the proposed method has higher correlation coefficient than the traditional methods with respect to correct answers.

The characteristics of the short document representatives and short queries of OPAC systems need the different ranking algorithms from IR systems. This study tested and analyzed the effectiveness of four sorting schemes and four ranking algorithms and the six effectiveness measurements for the ranked Boolean OPAC systems. The sorting by publication year was better but without significant difference. The cover density ranking was significantly better than the frequency-based ranking of the Fuzzy or DNF models. The simple effectiveness measurement based on the average rank of relevant documents retrieved was as good as the others and better than the precision P.
