Loss Reduction in Heavy Loaded Distribution Networks Using Cyclic Sub Tree Search (순환적 부분트리 탐색법을 이용한 중부하 배전계통의 손실최소화)

  • Network reconfiguration in distribution systems is realized by changing the status of sectionalizing switches, and is usually done for loss reduction of load balancing in the system. This paper presents an effective heuristic based switching scheme to solve the distribution feeder loss reduction problem. The proposed algorithm consists of two parts. One is to set up a decision tree to represent the various switching operations available. Another is to apply a proposed technique called cyclic best first search. the proposed algorithm identify the most effective the set of switch status configuration of distribution system for loss reduction. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm, numerical calculations are carried out the 32, 69 bus system models.

  • The purpose of this study was to achieve a desriable nutritional condition and eating habit of Korean through nutritional counseling. For this purpose, the survey of actual nutritional condition of young woman was carried out and the results were being applied to the nutritional status assessment program and the menu planning program which were being developed on this study. Computerized programs developed for this study were as follows ; 1) Program for the assessment of nutrition status was made by the analysis of general status, obesity measure, eating habits, athletic status, activity expenditure energy, distribution and nutrients of food intake.

Donor Country's Fiscal Status and ODA Decisions before and after 2008 Global Financial Crisis

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the impact of donor's fiscal status on aid decisions before and after the 2008 global financial crisis. The effects on aid can change depending on the donor country's fiscal status and the period of financial crisis. Research design, data, and methodology - A fixed effect regression and dynamic panel GMM is conducted using a comprehensive dataset combining 31 donor and 167 recipient countries during 1996-2015. The key explanatory variable is central government debt-to-GDP ratio of donor country. Recipient countries' GNI per capita, population, governance indicators, and bilateral trade-to-GDP ratio between donor and recipient countries are included as control variables. Results - We can confirm the relationship between donor country's fiscal status and aid flow. The cyclical component of government debt is found to have a negative impact on grant decisions particularly after the 2008 global financial crisis. This effect becomes larger in the countries with high government debt-to-GDP ratio. ODA decisions from the countries with low financial constraint do not significantly affected by the recipient countries' factors such as GNI, population, and governance indicator. Conclusions - Based on the empirical results of this study, the source of aid should be diversified by incorporating private sector and innovative financing sources.

A Study of the Impact of Nonconformity Behavior on Others: Focusing on the Red Sneakers Effect

  • Purpose: This research examines how people react to nonconforming behavior such as entering a luxury boutique wearing gym clothes rather than an elegant outfit or wearing red sneakers in a professional setting. Nonconforming behaviors, as costly and visible signals, can act as a particular form of conspicuous consumption and lead to a positive inference of status and competence in the eyes of others. Research design, data, and methodology: A series of studies demonstrate that people confer higher status and competence rather than conforming individuals using 2-way ANOVA through employees in luxury stores and students at university. Results: According to the empirical studies, observers who witness the nonconformity behavior have positive inferences of status and competence rather than conformity behavior. These positive inferences derived from signals of nonconformity are moderated by individual differences in prior knowledge and regulatory focus. Conclusions: Through three empirical studies, observers who witnessed role-breaking in prestigious and professional situations found that the individuals who performed the nonconformity behavior had higher status and competence rather than conformity behavior. Even in Korea, a collectivist culture, observers who witnessed nonconformity behavior showed that they gave higher evaluations to the people who behaved informally.

Analysis of Research Trends on Domestic Medical Attire (국내 의료복의 연구동향 분석)

  • This study provides information and suggest a direction for the future research needs of medical attire as a high value-added industry. A total of 69 studies on medical attire were categorized and analyzed for the study subject, study method, and study locations. As per the time period, until the mid-80s, almost no research on medical attire was conducted; however, the number has increased as of late. The distribution by subject was in the order of status investigation, design development, material research, textile design, and sizing system, and especially there was significant focus on wearing status and design development that has rapidly increased over the last 10 years. The distribution by target was in the order of adult patients, elderly patients, doctors, nurses, and juvenile patients. There are many studies on the wearing status and design development of adult patient attire as well as on the textile design and sizing system study for doctor's attire. The distribution by study method was in the order of survey and interview, research and development, dressing evaluation, real resources analysis, and physical property experiments. Through the results of the analysis on the study subject and target, it was found that the wearing status investigation for adult patient attire through a survey and interview was most active. The distribution by study location was in the order of Seoul, Incheon - Gyeonggi, Busan - Ulsan - Gyeongnam, and suggested that a study on patient attire in Dajeon - Chungcheong and Jeonbuk was inadequate.

An Efficient Dynamic Load Distribution for the Web Cluster Systems (웹 클러스터 시스템의 효율적인 동적 작업분배)

  • The typical web cluster architecture consists of replicated real servers and a virtual server that routes client requests among the real servers. In this paper, we proposed an efficient dynamic load distribution method with load prediction for the web cluster systems. The virtual server transmit status request message to real servers in other to get load states. However the load states dose not accurate during load distribution, thus the virtual server predict the load status of real servers and assign a request of the client to the minimum loaded real server. The proposed distribution methods works not related to partial breakdown of real servers, thus the system works with high availability. We also show that the proposed distribution method preserve scalable property and improve the throughput through a set of simulations.

  • In this paper we proposed the on line volt/var control schemes of the load Tap Changer (LTC) transformer and shunt capacitor bank for distribution volt/var regulation. In the existing volt/var control of the distribution substation, the voltage of feeders and var of distribution systems is mainly controlled by the LTC transformer tap position and on/off status of the shunt capacitor. The LTC and shunt capacitor bank has discrete operation characteristics and therefore it is very difficult to control volt/var at the distribution networks within the satisfactory levels. Also there is limitation of the operation times of the LTC and shunt capacitor bank because it is affects on their functional lifetime. The proposed volt/var control algorithm determine an optimal tap position of LTC and on/off status of shunt capacitors at a distribution network with the multiple feeders. The mathematical equations of the proposed method are introduced. Simple case study was performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
