Dispersion management (DM), optical phase conjugation (OPC), and the combination of DM and OPC are promising techniques to compensate for optical signal distortion due to group velocity dispersion and nonlinear Kerr effects. The system performance improvement in DM links combined with OPC has been reported; however, the fixed residual dispersion per span (RDPS) usually used in these links restricts the flexibility of link configuration. Thus, in this paper, a flexible optical link configuration with artificially distributed single-mode fiber (SMF) lengths and RDPS in the combination of DM and OPC is proposed. Simulation results show that the best artificial distribution pattern is the gradually descending distribution of SMF lengths and the gradually ascending distribution of RDPS, as the number of fiber spans is increased, regardless of the average RDPS, the optimal net residual dispersion, and the dispersion coefficient of the dispersion compensating fiber.
A Distribution Automation System (DAS) is operated by monitoring and control of the field statesusing Feeder Remote Terminal Units (FRTUs) installed together withautomatic switches. An optimal placement of automatic switchescan enhanceefficiencyof the operation and restoration, and improve the power supply reliability ofa DAS.This paper proposes an algorithm to decide the optimal placement of automatic switches ina DAS.The proposed algorithm was developed ona DAS witha six sections and three links configuration. The proposed algorithm was provided inaneight-feeder power distribution system.

Electric power distribution networks are prime examples of systems where a very high degree of reliability is expected. Reliability is the probability of a device or system performing its function adequately for the period of time intended and intented operating conditions intented. This paper shows that a better meshed distribution configuration over the case study of radial configuration distribution system was selected by comparing the indices obtained from EDSA\`s reliability worth assessment of distribution systems program.

This paper presents an application of genetic algorithms(GAs) for optimal configuration of distribution network. Three problems have been used to show how genetic algorithms are modified and applied. Solutions to the problems are found by minimizing the cost function which is directly related with balancing the loads. Simulation results show that genetic algorithms are technically feasible if they are tailored to meet the needs of real problems.
This paper analyzes the vulnerable area according to the configuration of Low Voltage DC (LVDC) distribution system. For this study, the various types of system layout are considered and the simulation results are presented.
This study presents the configuration schemes for railway power distribution system. The possible alternatives are derived and reviewed on the basis of power quality, reliability, and economic aspects.
We investigated configuration plan and future expectation of the power distribution test center. The example of foreign country's test center was analyzed, and the required test facilities, test line, and power source for the operation of our test center were proposed.
The Distribution Automation System(DAS) Master Station(MS) is the core of the system, which has the functions of supervising, data acquisition, processing and man-machine interface. In this paper, we suggested the optimal configuration of the medium/small scale DAS MS in accordance with the consideration of various requirements such as reliability, scalability flexibility, etc.

The R-134a flow distribution is experimentally studied for a heat exchanger composed of round headers and 10 flat tubes. The effects of tube protrusion depth as well as mass flux, and quality are investigated, and the results are compared with the previous air-water results. The flow at the header inlet is stratified. For the downward flow configuration, the liquid distribution improves as the protrusion depth or the mass flux increases, or the quality decreases. For the upward configuration, the liquid distribution improves as the mass flux or quality decreases. The protrusion depth has minimal effect. For the downward configuration. the effect of quality on liquid distribution is significantly affected by the flow regime at the header inlet. For the stratified inlet flow, the liquid is forced to rear part of the header as the quality decreases. However, for the annular inlet flow, the liquid was forced to the frontal part of the header as the quality decreased. For the upward flow, the effect of the mass flux or quality on liquid distribution of the stratified inlet flow is opposite to that of the annular inlet flow. The high gas velocity of the annular flow may be responsible for the trend. Generally, the liquid distribution of the stratified inlet flow is better than that of the annular inlet flow. Possible explanation is provided from the flow visualization results.

The air and water flow distribution are experimentally studied for a round header-ten microchannel tube configuration. Three different inlet orientations (parallel, side, normal) were investigated. Tests were conducted with downward flow configuration for the mass flux from 70 to 130 kg/$m^2s$, quality from 0.2 to 0.6, non-dimensional protrusion depth (h/D) from 0.0 to 0.5. It is shown that, for almost all the test conditions, normal inlet yielded the best flow distribution, followed by side and parallel inlet. Possible reasoning is provided using flow visualization results.
