A Framework for Agile Development in Cloud Computing Environment

  • Distributed agile software development faces difficulties for instance lack of visibility across development and delivery processes, complex and disjointed development processes, inability to capitalize on business opportunities, lack of communication agility between disconnected owners, development teams, and users or clients. However these difficulties are solved with the help of cloud computing services. This study proposes a framework to provide a skeletal or structural environment for distributed agile software development in cloud computing environment. The framework guide towards the best tooling to deliver a consistent, automated, governed, and unified agile software development process with reduced technical debt, and minimized project backlog. In addition to this, the study highlights the benefits of cloud computing in agile software development.

Demographic Faultlines in Groups: The Curvilinearly Moderating Effects of Task Interdependence

  • This study aims to examine curvilinearly moderating effects of task interdependence on the relationship between demographic faultlines and group performance. It posits that the degree of task interdependence has an impact on the effects of demographic faultlines. It was conducted in six organizations in Korea, their industries including heavy industries, hospital, construction, petrochemical, fine chemicals, and system integration. The survey was distributed to 1330 individuals in 162 teams and 1082 individuals in 137 teams responded to the questionnaire. To test the hypotheses including nonlinear interactions, we conducted a hierarchical regression analysis to the survey data from 82 groups within six firms in Korea. The results show that for groups that experience a high level of task interdependence, the slope for the regression of demographic faultlines on group performance is comparatively low and, at the low level of task interdependence, insignificant. However, at intermediate levels of task interdependence, the association was strongly negative and significant. This study finds that the negative relationship between demographic faultlines and group performance is stronger when task interdependence is moderate than when task interdependence is high or low. Therefore, managers should pay attention to optimal group design by carefully assigning tasks in diverse and divided groups.

Situational Relation of Job Crafting, Organizational Support, and Innovation Performance

  • Purpose - This study analyzes the situational relationship between the components of job crafting and innovation performance, and based on this, suggests practical alternatives to the effect of the control variables of organizational support. Design/methodology/approach - For this survey, 350 questionnaires were distributed to Korean SME workers from October 5, 2020 to March 20, 2021, and 230 questionnaires were collected. In order to check the validity of the questionnaire, the questionnaire judged to be inappropriate in response was excluded. The recovery rate was 65.7%, and the effectiveness of the questionnaire was 82%. Structural equation model and hierarchical regression analysis are used to analyze those data. Findings - First, job enhancement through job redesign as well as organizational support is a key task in order to expect innovative results from field members. Innovative performance is not created by individual jobs, but is created between jobs and jobs, tasks and tasks, teams and teams, and departments and departments. This is why it is worth paying attention not to the functional approach, but to the interconnection structure of the process. Research implications or Originality - In this study, it was analyzed that structural job resource increase and social job resource increase, which are components of job crafting, had a positive effect on innovation performance, and that challenging job will had no significant effect. Challenging work will itself does not negatively affect innovation performance. Combining the survey and interview, field members who make up the majority of respondents say that they do not lack the will to work. They claim that there is no channel or opportunity to express or practice a challenging will.

웹과 STEP을 이용한 제품 설계 정보 공유 시스템 (An Information Sharing System for Product Design Data Using WWW and STEP)

  • An information sharing system, namely World Design View, is developed for browsing product design data on the World Wide Web environment. For the last few years information sharing has been rapidly emerging as an important research issue in the areas of concurrent engineering, product data management, virtual manufacturing, and so on. Since we are mainly concerned with product development, the key information that needs be communicated and shared is product data. The developed system puts the major advantages of STEP, OODB, and VRML together. The STEP standard provides a consistent data exchange format and application interfaces among different CAD/CAM systems. OODB is efficient and effective in dealing with complex data structures often found in engineering applications. Virtual worlds for 3-D product models can be created by VRML which is networked via the global Internet and hyperlinked with WWW. The World Design View system can support for members of virtual design teams, possibly distributed all over the world, to share 3-D shape information quickly and easily.

협업공학 기반의 제품개발 지원 시스템 (A Collaborative Engineering Based System Supporting Product Development Process)

  • In order to keep and increase a competitive potential, industrial enterprises have to reduce their costs for product development as well as shorten lead time in product development processes. Moreover they have to respond to market factors and conditions such as increasing demands for functionality and individuality of products, short product life cycles, high pressure on prices and time to market. The improved functional requirement in connection with high time and cost pressure lead to high risk in product development. Technological fine improvements in connection with high time and cost pressure lead to high development risk. To cope with these challenges many enterprises have to collaborate globally. The collaborative engineering in product development is aimed to create distributed collaborative corporations and to facilitate the management of design conflicts. This paper provides a methodology for analyzing collaborative design process as well as the tools and the framework to support collaborative product development. The methodology can identify the interdependences among design tasks and teams. The tools and framework are implemented to facilitate the management of product development process.

  • Information assurance(IA) refers to methodologies to protect engineering information by ensuring its availability, confidentiality, integrity, non-repudiation, authentication, access control, etc. In collaborative design, IA techniques are needed to protect intellectual property, establish security privileges and create "need to know" protections on critical features. Aside from 3D watermarking, research on how to provide IA to distributed collaborative engineering teams is largely non-existent. This paper provides a framework for information assurance within collaborative design, based on a technique we call role-based viewing. Such role-based viewing is achieved through integration of multi-resolution geometry and security models. 3D models are geometrically partitioned, and the partitioning is used to create multi-resolution mesh hierarchies. Extracting an appropriately simplified model suitable for access rights for individual designers within a collaborative design environment is driven by an elaborate access control mechanism.

학습과 근접성의 지리에 대한 재고찰: 관계적/조직적 관점 (Geographies of Learning and Proximity Reconsidered: A Relational/Organizational Perspective)

  • 본 연구는 지역 발전과 기업의 성공에 있어 추동력으로써 주장되는 지식과 학습의 근원에 관찬 문제에 대한 이론적 고찰이다. 최근 들어, 경제지리학과 인접 사회과학계를 중심으로 지식과 학습의 근원으로써 지역과 지리적 근접성의 역할을 강조하는 연구가 급격히 늘어나고 있다. 그러나, 이러한 연구들은 기업에 있어 학습이 어떻게 발생하고 그 과정이 조직되는지에 대해서, 그리고 그러한 지식과 학습의 근원이 어디에 있는지에 대한 엄밀한 고찰이 부족하다. 이러한 경향성은 기업 조직에서 발생하는 학습의 본질과 그 과정을 오도할 뿐만 아니라, 학습의 근원으로써 지역과 지리적 근접성의 역할을 과장할 수 있는 위험성을 내포한다. 본 논문의 목적은 학습의 지리에 대한 최근의 연구를 비판적으로 고찰하고, 근접성에 대한 개념적 확장 및 조직 학습 이론을 통해 학습의 근원에 대한 관계적/조직적 관점을 이론적으로 구축하는 것이다. 이러한 작업의 일환으로 ‘실행 커뮤니티(communities of practice)’, ‘인식 커뮤니티(epistemic communities)’그리고 ‘테스크포스팀(task-force teams)’등과 같은 기업조직내 ‘커뮤니티’를 통해 학습이 어떻게 발현되고, 구축되는지에 대해 고찰한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 조직형태들을 통해, 분산되어 있는 지식과 역량이 조직의 공간을 통해 결집되고 다양한 형태로 존재하는 지식들이 결합됨으로써 혁신이 달성될 수 있다고 주장한다.

중학교 2학년 과학영재들의 자유탐구 활동에서 나타난 과학적 추론 능력 분석 (Analysis of the Scientific Reasoning Ability of Science-Gifted 2nd Middle School Students in Open-Inquiry Activities)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 자유탐구 활동에서 나타난 중학교 2학년 과학 영재 학생들의 과학적 추론 능력을 알아보는 것이다. 과학영재들이 과학자가 지식을 얻는 과정과 유사한 자유탐구 활동을 실시할 때 어떠한 과학적 추론과정을 거쳐 탐구하고 있으며 과학적 추론 능력이 어느 정도인지를 확인하고 분석하는 것은, 학생 지도에 있어서 교육적 시사점을 줄 수 있다. 이를 위하여 정선희 등(2011)이 번역한 Dolan과 Grady(2010)의 CSRI Matrix를 이용하여 추론 복잡성을 분석하였으며, 추론 복잡성이 높을수록 과학자가 지식을 얻는 과학적 추론 과정과 비슷하다. 연구 결과, 자유탐구의 과정별로 추론 복잡성 단계는 다양하게 분포하였다. 특히 의문 생성 과정과 연구 의문과 자료 연결 과정은 5개 팀이 모두 비교적 높은 추론 복잡성 단계를 나타낸 반면, 예비가설 생성과정 변인 선택 실험의 한계나 결점 고려 등은 비교적 낮은 단계를 나타내었다. 그리고 의사소통 및 연구 결과 방어는 가장 다양한 추론 복잡성 단계 분포를 나타내었다.

과학적 가시화를 위한 증강 협업 환경 디자인에 관한 연구 (Designing Amplified Collaboration Environments for Scientific Visualization)

  • 증강 협업 환경은 지리적으로 떨어진 그룹과 그룹간의 사용자들이 함께 어려운 문제를 풀 수 있도록 도와주는 다수의 디스플레이를 활용하는 작업 환경이다. 본 논문은 실시간 협력 작업 환경의 특징적인 공유 작업 공간 모델을 살펴본다 그리고 과학적 가시화를 위한 증강 협업 환경의 공유 작업 공간 모델을 검증하는 반복적인 디자인 실험연구를 설명하고 있다 이 연구에서 원거리 사용자들의 협업을 향상시키기 위한 증강 협업 환경의 디스플레이 기술 설정을 바꿔가며 사용자 평가 실험이 진행되었다. 각 실험에서 두 개의 방에 두 명씩 분산된 그룹들에게 협업 가시화를 이용한 집중적인 분석 작업을 시켰다. 그 결과 다른 사람들의 작업 내용을 쉽게 볼 수 있는 고화질 작업환경의 항시 가시성이 분산된 구성원들 간의 상호 인지도와 협력에 도움이 되어 협업 능률을 향상시켰다.

AHP를 이용한 전문대학 실험기자재 선정 방안 (A Study on the Rational Selection of Experimental Facilities Using AHP)

  • In the research-oriented university there are various laboratories in the departments according to a major field of study. Under these circumstances the budget to purchase experimental facilities has only to be distributed among research teams and then is spent within the confines of it without rein. However, in case of college the budget for experimental facilities needs to be considered other allocation methods because of no laboratory being managed by professor. In this paper the methodology for the rational selection of experimental facilities for college is proposed. It is composed of the following ; (1) the rational allocation method of the budget for experimental facilities in consideration of the characteristics of individual departments, and (2) the evaluation and selection of the alternative experimental facilities submitting in each department. To decide rationally importance of estimation index for the determination of budget and equipment is applied the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) technique. First the proposed methods are presented and then discussed with simulation results.
