Objective: The purpose of the study is to evaluate appropriate weight for aged farmers in manually handling livestock feed in bags using ergonomic methods. Background: In the livestock industry in South Korea, despite the trend of aging of labor manpower, heavy items are still manually handled in many farms. In particular, among stockbreeding works, the handling of feed in bags weighing 25~30kg is reported as a cause of frequent injuries and musculoskeletal system diseases. However, studies on the standard for recommended weight allowed considering the physical characteristics of aged farmers older than 60 years with greatly decreased physical strength and muscle strength are insufficient. Method: To evaluate appropriate weight for handling of heavy livestock feed in bags, physical techniques for measuring recognized levels of physical work loads, the NLE (NIOSH lifting equation) a method that is an observation type technique, and an ergonomic modeling technique to predict compressive force imposed on L5/S1 were used. Subjects who participated in the experiment were organized into two groups of males/females with mean age exceeding 60 years, and lifting tasks were evaluated for nine weight levels. Results: Based on the results of psychophysical measurement, females showed a tendency of more drastic increases compared to males when weight was over 19kg. The results of estimation of regression models for the weight, 18.0 kg ($r^2=0.97$) and 15.3kg ($r^2=0.97$) were evaluated as stable load for males and females, respectively. In addition, both the observation type evaluation and ergonomic model evaluation showed stable loads in a range of 15~18kg. Conclusion: Given the results of the study, the weight of the feed in bags currently distributed to farms can become a cause of not only overexertion but also farm work related disasters such as musculoskeletal disorders and safety accidents. Providing livestock feed in bags weighing not more than 19kg for aged farmers is judged desirable, and managerial improvement for this matter is considered necessary. Application: The results of the present study can be utilized as useful data for institutional improvement of the weight of livestock feed in bags.

Ad hoc sensor network is characterized by decentralized structure and ad hoc deployment. Sensor networks have all basic features of ad hoc network except different degrees such as lower mobility and more stringent energy requirements. Existing protocols provide different tradeoffs among some desirable characteristics such as fault tolerance, distributed computation, robustness, scalability and reliability. wireless protocols suggested so far are very limited, generally focusing on communication to a single base station or on aggregating sensor data. The main reason having such restrictions is due to maximum lifetime to maintain network activities. The network lifetime is an important design metric in ad hoc networks. Since every node does a router role, it is not possible for other nodes to communicate with each other if some nodes do not work due to energy lack. In this paper, we suggest an experimental ad-hoc on-demand distance vector routing protocol to optimize the communication of energy of the network nodes. The load distribution avoids the choice of exhausted nodes at the route selection phase, thus balances the use of energy among nodes and maximizing the network lifetime. In transmission control phase, there is a balance between the choice of a high transmission power that lead to increase in the range of signal transmission thus reducing the number of hops and lower power levels that reduces the interference on the expense of network connectivity.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the displacement and the magnitude and the mode of distribution of the stresses in the lower overdenture, the mucous membrane, the abutment tooth and the mandibular supporting bone when various denture base materials, such as acrylic resin and 0.5mm metal base, and various denture base designs were subjected to different loading schemes. For this study, the two-dimensional finite element method was used. Mandibular arch models, with only canine remaining, were fabricated. In the first denture base design, a space, approximately 1mm thick, was prepared between the denture and the dome abutment. In the second denture base design, contact between the denture and the dome abutment was eliminated except the contact of the occlusal third of the abutment. In order to represent the same physiological condition as the fixed areas of the mandible under loading schemes, the eight nodes which lie at the mandibular angle region, the coronoid process and the mandibular condyle were assumed to be fixed. Each model was loaded with a magnitude of 10 kgs on the first molar region(P1) and 7 kgs on the central incisal region (P2) in a vertical direction. Then the force of 10 kgs was applied distributively from the first premolar to the second molar of each model in a vertical direction(P3). The results were as follows. : 1. When the testing vertical loads were given to the selected points of the overdenture, the overdenture showed the rotatory phenomenon, as well as sinking and the displacements of alveolar ridge, abutment and lower border of mandible under the metal base overdenture were less than those under the acrylic resin overdenture. 2. The maximum principal stresses(the maximum tensile stresses) being considered, high tensile stresses occured at the buccal shelf area, the posterior region of the ridge crest and the anterior border region of the mandibular ramus. 3. The minimum principal stresses(the maximum compressive stresses) being considered, high compressive stresses occured at the inferior and posterior border region of the mandible, the mandibular angle and the posterior border region of the mandibular ramus. 4. The vertical load on the central incisal region(P2) produced higher equivalent stress in the mandible than that on any other region(P1, P3) because of the long lever arm distance from the fixed points to the loading point. 5. Higher equivalent stresses were distributed throughout the metal base overdenture than the resin base overdenture under the same loading condition. 6. The case of occlusal third contact of the abutment to the denture produced higher equivalent stresses in the abutment, the mandibular area around the abutment and the overdenture than the case of a 1mm space between the denture and the abutment. 7. Without regard to overdenture base materials and designs, the amounts and distribution patterns of equivalent stresses under the same loading condition were similar in the mucous membrane.
Pyroprocessing has been developed for the purpose of resolving the current spent nuclear fuel management issue and enhancing the recycle of valuable resources. Pyroprocessing has been developed with the dry technologies which are performed under high temperature conditions excluding any aqueous processes. Pyro-processes which are based on the electrochemical principles require pretreatment processes and a voloxidation process is considered as a pretreatment step for an electrolytic reduction process. Various kinds of gas conditions are applicable to the voloxidation process and the understanding of Cs behavior during the process is of importance for the analyses of waste characteristics and heat load on the overall pyroprocessing. In this study, the changes of chemical compounds with the gas conditions were calculated by analyzing gas-solid reaction behavior based on the chemical equilibria on a Cs-Te-O system. $Cs_2TeO_3$ and $Cs_2TeO_4$ were selected after a Tpp diagram analysis and it was confirmed that they are relatively stable under oxidizing atmospheres while it was shown that Cs and Te would be removed by volatilization under reducing atmosphere at a high temperature. This work provided basic data for predicting Cs behavior during the voloxidation process at which compounds are chemically distributed as the first stage in the pyroprocessing and it is expected that the results would be used for setting up material balances and related purposes.
Restorative procedures can lead to weakening tooth due to reduction and alteraton of tooth structure. It is essential to prevent fractures to conserve tooth. Among the several parameters in cavity designs, cavity isthmus and depth are very important. In this study, MO amalgam cavity was prepared on maxillary first premolar. Three dimensional. finite element models were made by serial photographic method and cavity depth(1.7mm, 2.4mm) and isthmus (11 4, 1/3, 1/2 of intercuspal distance) were varied. linear, eight and six-nodal, isoparametric brick elements were used for the three dimensional finite element model. The periodontal ligament and alveolar bone surrounding the tooth were excluded in these models. Three types model(B, G and R model) were developed. B model was assumed perfect bonding between the restoration and cavity wall. Both compressive and tensile forces were distributed directly to the adjacent regions. G model(Gap Distance: 0.000001mm) was assumed the possibility of play at the interface simulated the lack of real bonding between the amalgam and cavity wall (enamel and dentin). When compression occurred along the interface, the forces were transferred to the adjacent regions. However, tensile forces perpendicular to the interface were excluded. R model was assumed non-connection between the restoration and cavity wall. No force was transferred to the adjacent regions. A load of 500N was applied vertically at the first node from the lingual slope of the buccal cusp tip. This study analysed the displacement, von Mises stress, 1 and 2 direction normal stress and strain with FEM software ABAQUS Version 5.2 and hardware IRIS 4D/310 VGX Work-station. The results were as follows: 1. G model showed stress and strain patterns between Band R model. 2. B model and G model showed the bending phenomenon in the displacement. 3. R model showed the greatest amount of the displacement of the buccal cusp followed by G and B model in descending order. G model showed the greatest amount of the displacement of the lingual cusp followed by B and R model in descending order. 4. B model showed no change of the displacement as increasing depth and width of the cavity. G and R model showed greater displacement of the buccal cusp as increasing depth and width of the cavity, but no change in the displacement of the lingual cusp. 5. As increasing of the width of the cavity, stress and strain were not changed in B model. Stress and strain were increased on the distal marginal ridge and buccopulpal line angle in G and R model. The possibility of the tooth fracture was increased. 6. As increasing of the depth of the cavity, stress and strain were not changed in B and G model. Stress and strain were increased on the distal marginal ridge and buccopulpal line angle in R model. The possibility of the tooth fracture was increased.
Database sharing system (DSS) refers to a system for high performance transaction processing. In DSS, the processing nodes are locally coupled via a high speed network and share a common database at the disk level. Each node has a local memory and a separate copy of operating system. To reduce the number of disk accesses, the node caches database pages in its local memory buffer. In this paper, we propose a dynamic transaction routing algorithm to balance the load of each node in the DSS. The proposed algorithm is novel in the sense that it can support node-specific locality of reference by utilizing the primary copy authority assigned to each node; hence, it can achieve better cache hit ratios and thus fewer disk I/Os. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm avoids a specific node being overloaded by considering the current workload of each node. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we develop a simulation model of the DSS, and then analyze the simulation results. The results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing algorithms in the transaction processing rate. Especially the proposed algorithm shows better performance when the number of concurrently executed transactions is high and the data page access patterns of the transactions are not equally distributed.

The HCCA reserves the channel resources based on the mean data rate in IEEE 802.11e. It may cause either the waste of channel resource or the increase of transmission delay at MAC layer if the frame size is rapidly varied when a compressed mode video codec such as MPEG video is used. To solve these problems, it is developed that the packet scheduler allocates the wireless resource adaptation by according to the packet size. However, it is difficult to perform the admission control because of the difficulty with calculating the available resources. In this paper, we propose a CAC mechanism to solve the problem that may not satisfy the QoS by increasing traffic load in case of using EDCA. Especially, the proposed CAC mechanism calculates the EB of TSs using the traffic information transmitted by the application layer and the number of average transmission according to the wireless channel environment, and then determines the admission of the TS based on the EB. According to the simulation results of the proposed CAC mechanism, it admitted the TSs under the loads which are satisfied within the delay bound. Therefore, the proposed mechanism guarantees QoS of streaming services effectively.

Recently, the protection coordination method of DC systems has been presented because renewable energy and distributed resources are being installed and operated in distribution systems. On the other hand, it is difficult to detect ground faults because there is no significant difference compared to a steady-state current in ungrounded IT systems, such as DC load networks and urban railways. Therefore, this paper formulates the detection principle of IMD (Insulation Monitoring Device) to use it as a protection coordination device in a DC system. Based on the signal injection method of IMD, which is analyzed by a wavelet transform, this paper presents an algorithm of detecting ground faults in a DC system in a fast and accurate manner. In addition, this paper modeled an IMD and an ungrounded DC system using the PSCAD/EMTDC S/W and performed numerical analysis of a wavelet transform with the Matlab S/W. The simulation results of a ground fault case in an ungrounded DC system showed that the proposed algorithm and modeling are useful and practical tools for detecting a ground fault in a DC system.

Recently, superconductor flywheel energy storage systems (SFESs) have been developed for application to a regenerative power of train, a power quality improvement, the storage of distributed power sources such as solar and wind power, and a load leveling. As the high temperature superconductor (HTS) bearings offer dynamic stability without the use of active control, accurate analysis of the HTS bearing is very important for application to SFESs. Mechanical property of a HTS bearing is the main index for evaluating the capacity of an HTS bearing and is determined by the interaction between the HTS bulks and the permanent magnet (PM) rotor. HTS bearing rotor consists of PM and iron collector and the proper dimension design of them is very important to determine a supporting characteristics. In this study, we have optimized a rotor magnet array, which depends on the limited bulk size and performed various dimension layouts for thickness of the pole pitch and iron collector. HTS bearing rotor was installed into a single axis universal test machine for a stiffness test. A hydraulic pump was used to control the amplitude and frequency of the rotor vibration. As a result, the stiffness result showed a large difference more than 30 % according to the thickness of permanent magnet and iron collector. This is closely related to the bulk stiffness controlled by flux pining area, which is limited by the total bulk dimension. Finally, the optimized HTS bearing rotor was installed into a flywheel system for a dynamic stability test. We discussed the dynamic properties of the superconductor bearing rotor and these results can be used for the optimal design of HTS bearings of the 10kWh SFESs.

The length of the links in an eccentrically braced frame will dictate the behavior of the frame. Link length controls the yielding mechanism and the ultimate failure mode. For short links, the links' shear forces reach the plastic shear capacity before the end moments reach the plastic moment capacity, and the links yields in the shear, forming a shear hinges. These links are termed "shear links." For long links, the end moments reach the plastic moment capacity before the links' shear forces reach the plastic shear capacity, forming moment hinges. These links are termed moment links." In long links, flexural yielding dominates the response, and very high bending strains are required at the link ends to produce large link deformations. In a shear links, the shear force is constant along the length of the links, and the inelastic shear strain are is uniformly distributed over the length of the links. This permits the development of large inelastic link deformations without the development of excessively high local strains. However, The use of eccentrically braced steel frames for the purpose of architectural cionsiderations such as openings and doors, areis dictating the use of longer links, though. Little data areis available on the behavior of long links under cyclic loading conditions. In This paper documents the results of an experimental program is that was conducted to assess the response of moment links in eccentrically braced frames. Sixteen specimens awere tested using a cyclic load.
