A Fast and Scalable Image Retrieval Algorithms by Leveraging Distributed Image Feature Extraction on MapReduce (MapReduce 기반 분산 이미지 특징점 추출을 활용한 빠르고 확장성 있는 이미지 검색 알고리즘)

  • With mobile devices showing marked improvement in performance in the age of the Internet of Things (IoT), there is demand for rapid processing of the extensive amount of multimedia big data. However, because research on image searching is focused mainly on increasing accuracy despite environmental changes, the development of fast processing of high-resolution multimedia data queries is slow and inefficient. Hence, we suggest a new distributed image search algorithm that ensures both high accuracy and rapid response by using feature extraction of distributed images based on MapReduce, and solves the problem of memory scalability based on BIRCH indexing. In addition, we conducted an experiment on the accuracy, processing time, and scalability of this algorithm to confirm its excellent performance.

  • In the semistructured distributed documents, it is very difficult to formalize and implement the query processing system due to the lack of structure and rule of the data. In order to precisely retrieve and process the heterogeneous semistructured documents, it is required to handle multiple mappings such as 1:1, 1:W and W:1 on an element simultaneously and to generate the schema from the distributed documents. In this paper, we have proposed an query processing algorithm for querying and answering on the heterogeneous semistructured data or documents over distributed systems and implemented with a metadata interface. The algorithm for generating local queries from the global query consists of mapping between g1oba1 and local nodes, data transformation according to the mapping types, path substitution, and resolving the heterogeneity among nodes on a global input query with metadata information. The mapping, transformation, and path substitution algorithms between the global schema and the local schemas have been implemented the metadata interface called DBXMI (for Distributed Documents XML Metadata Interface). The nodes with the same node name and different mapping or meanings is resolved by automatically extracting node identification information from the local schema automatically. The system uses Quilt as its XML query language. An experiment testing is reported over 3 different OEM model semistructured restaurant documents. The prototype system is developed under Windows system with Java and JavaCC compiler.

  • Web Services are a distributed component technology based on XML and Web. The Web Services are used to integrate heterogeneous systems under the distributed environment. In this study, the concept of Web Services for CAD (WSC) is introduced, which aims at interoperation with CAD systems using the Web Services. This paper introduces one part of the WSC which enables remote users or applications to retrieve the geometries and the design history of CAD models using the Web Services. This paper proposes an architecture of the WSC, the data model and the interfaces for retrieving CAD model information, and the way to apply the WSC to commercial CAD systems.

  • Large-scale distributed applications based on Internet and client/server applications have to deal with series of problems such as load balancing, unpredictable communication delays, partial errors, and networking failures. Therefore, sophisticated applications such as teleconferencing, video-on-demand, and concurrent software engineering require an abstracted communication. In this paper, we present our design, implementation and performance analysis of group communication using the CORBA ORB, JAVA RMI, Socket based on distributed computing. We anticipate our study may apply to the various field of applications such as fault-tolerant client/server system, groupware, scalable text retrieval system, and financial information systems.

Suggest a frameworks are use in the search engines on have guarantee in server environment support on distributed processing and distributed storage, and high availability by using the Hadoop and Nutch, Solr, Zookeeper.

  • The information Retrieval Protocol, Z39.50 is applied to the shared cataloging gateway. The history and functions of the Z39.50 are reviewed and the characteristics and the database update service of Z39.50 are taken into account in the notion of the shared cataloging. And for the test, one of the domestic on-line shared cataloging systems is adopted and newly remodelled using Z39.50 protocol. Two kinds of Z39.50 shared cataloging gateway models (th centralized shared cataloging gateway model and the distributed shared cataloging gateway model) are operated in Web server.

  • Web Services following distributed object computing technology like DCOM, CORBA provides remote procedure call mechanism based on XML-based open standard such as SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, and it is spotlighted as means of integration and collaboration at e-business. Especially, UDDI is the Web Services Registry enabling to register and search Web Services, that takes charge of providing infrastructure for Web Services. However, the existing UDDI has a few problems that searching process is very simple and it cannot provide information of Web Services quality and quality-based retrieval. Therefore, this study suggest improved UDDI model that evaluates the Web Services quality and use this information for searching.

  • This paper presents a design and implementation of an extended directory system in manage and provide an effective search operation of the DFR(Document Filing and Retrieval) Object's attributes. For this, the design and implementation of a configuration model for interworking between the DFR and directory systems, an association mechanisms between two application's operation, extended directory schema and extended DIT(Directory Information Tree) are described. In a distributed environment, the interworking between the DFR and directory system implemented by using QUIPU 8.0 of ISODE(ISO Development Environment) directory system is tested. based on the result of this paper, an extended model of the directory system is proposed for proving search operation of various application's objects.

  • This paper describes a design and implementation of the DFR(Document Filing and Retrieval) system. one of applications of DOAM(Distributed Office Application Model) which is the international standard in ISO(International Standards Organization). On the basis of the international standard, the DFR system is implemented on SUN workstation and PC/386 with C language, and its implementation is verified by tracing the association descriptor and primitives of service elements when its operation is tested between client and server. The result of this study shows that the DFR system can be implemented on the basis of the international standard, and makes a contribution toward the establishment of functional standards for the DFR system.
