  • In this paper, we evaluate feasibility of an object-oriented method in a distributed real-time control environment through the prediction of delay expected. We adopt CAN as the distributed network and the application layer of the CAN is composed of client/server communication model of COM and surroundings for the support of real-time capability of the COM. Mathematical models formalizing delays which are predicted to invoke in the COM architecture are proposed. Sensors and actuators which are widely used in distributed network-based systems are represented by COM objects in this paper. It is expected that the mathematical models can be used to protect distributed network-based systems from violation of real-time features by the COM.

  • This paper describes the coordinated droop control method for stand-alone type DC micro-grid to improve reliability and utilization of distributed generations and energy storage. The stand-alone type DC micro-grid consists of several distributed generations such as a wind power generation, solar power and micro-turbine, and energy storage. The proposed method which is based on autonomous control method shows high reliability and stability through coordinated droop control of distributed generations and energy storage and also capability of battery management. The operation of stand-alone type DC micro-grid was analyzed using detail simulation model with PSCAD/EMTDC software. Based on simulation results, a hardware simulator was built and tested with commercially available components and performance of system was verified.

  • We develop a neural network control algorithm for the ACS (Advanced Control System). The ACS is an extended version of the DCS (Distributed Control System) to which functions of fault detection and diagnosis and advanced control algorithms are added such as neural networks, fuzzy logics, and so on. In spite of its usefulness proven by computer simulations, the neural network control algorithm, as far as we know, has no tool which makes it applicable to process control. It is necessary that the neural network controller should be turned into the function code for its application to the ACS. So we develop a general method to implement the neural network control systems for the ACS. By simulations using the simulator for the boiler of 'Seoul fire power plant unit 4', the methodology proposed in this paper is validated to have the applicability to process control.

  • Denial of Service (DoS) attack is to interfere the normal user from using the information technology services. With a rapid technology improvements in computer and internet environment, small sized DoS attacks targeted to server or network infrastructure have been disabled. Thus, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks that utilizes from tens to several thousands of distributed computers as zombie PC appear to have as one of the most challenging threat. In this paper, we categorize the DDoS attacks and classify existing countermeasures based on where and when they prevent, detect, and respond to the DDoS attacks. Then we propose a comprehensive defense mechanism against DDoS attacks in Control System to detect attacks efficiently.

  • Weapon systems composed of several subsystems execute various engagement missions in distributed combat environments in cooperation with a large number of subordinate/adjacent weapon systems as well as higher echelons through tactical data links. Such distributed weapon systems require distributed real-time simulation test beds to integrate and test their operational software, analyze their performance and effects of cooperated engagement, and validate their requirement specifications. These demands present significant challenges in terms of real-time constraints, time synchronization, complexity and development cost of an engagement simulation test bed, thus necessitate the use of high-performance distributed real-time simulation architectures, and modeling and simulation techniques. In this paper, in order to meet these demands, we presented a distributed real-time simulation system based on High Level Architecture(HLA) and Discrete Event System Specification(DEVS). We validated its performance by using it as a test bed for developing the Engagement Control System(ECS) of a surface-to-air missile system. The proposed technique can be employed to design a prototype or model of engagement-level distributed real-time simulation systems.

  • In this paper auto-tuning scheme of weight function in the neural networks has been suggested by immune algorithm for nonlinear process. A number of structures of the neural networks are considered as learning methods for control system.   • With the recent progress in flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) in industry, increasing attention has been given to Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems. An AGV is a self-powered unit for transporting materials between stations without needing to be controlled by an operator. Such a system has several sensors to recognize the external state, and it is designed to travel between stations automatically without external assistance. To manage each device automatically in real time it requires a distributed controller with a main computer as the host, as well as a number of micro-controllers. In this study, an AGV system with dual motor drive was constructed. A Pentium 4 personal computer was set up as the main host for the distributed control, and this communicated with other micro-controllers in the management of the motor. The speed of each motor was also controlled by a micro-controller.

  • The manufacturing systems have to cope with the circumstance that the requirements of customers are changed abruptly and the life cycle of product becomes short. In this paper, to develop the efficient control and operation of autonomous, distributed machining systems the concept of Holonic Manufacturing System is adopted and methods for the control and operation of the system are proposed including an evaluation function for the negotiation between holons. And it is applied to scheduling and selection of operations to be worked with consideration of quality. It is expected that the proposed methods may be applied to operate autonomous, distributed machining systems.

  • 발전소등 대형 플랜트의 대규모 필드기기 제어용으로 많이 이용되고 있는 OVATION DCS(Distributed Control System) 시스템을 소개하고, RTD를 이용한 온도계측을 위하여 UNIX 워크스테이션을 기반으로 한 OVATION DCS 시스템의 콘트롤러 및 네트워크를 이용하여 현장 입력단 및 출력 포인터에 대한 전체 실험시스템을 구현하고, DCS 시스템의 구성 툴을 이용하여 RTD(Resistive Temperature Detector) 소자에 대한 변환계수를 산출하는 센서 Calibration 작업 및 I/O와 포인터에 대한 Configuration 구축 작업을 수행하였다 마지막으로 실질적인 온도의 측정이 정상적인지 확인하기 위해 포인터 정보 화면으로의 온도계측 값 출력 및 그래픽 디스플레이를 위한 트랜드 화면으로의 온도 출력 값을 확인하였다.
