To resolve energy depletion issues in massive Internet of Things sensor networks, we developed a set of distributed energy beamforming methods with one-bit feedback and clustering for multi-node wireless energy transfer, where multiple singleantenna distributed energy transmitters (Txs) transfer their energy to multiple nodes wirelessly. Unlike previous works focusing on distributed information beamforming using a single energy receiver (Rx) node, we developed a distributed energy beamforming method for multiple Rx nodes. Additionally, we propose two clustering methods in which each Tx node chooses a suitable Rx node. Furthermore, we propose a fast distributed beamforming method based on Tx sub-clustering. Through computer simulations, we demonstrate that the proposed distributed beamforming method makes it possible to transfer wireless energy to massive numbers of sensors effectively and rapidly with small implementation complexity. We also analyze the energy harvesting outage probability of the proposed beamforming method, which provides insights into the design of wireless energy transfer networks with distributed beamforming.

This paper presents an efficient distributed recommendation system using clustering collaborative filtering algorithm in distributed computing environments. The system was built based on Hadoop distributed computing platform, where distributed Min-hash clustering algorithm is combined with user based collaborative filtering algorithm to optimize recommendation performance. Experiments using Movie Lens benchmark data show that the proposed system can reduce the execution time for recommendation compare to sequential system.

We propose a practical privacy-preserving clustering protocol over horizontally partitioned data. We extend the DBSCAN clustering algorithm into a distributed protocol in which data providers mix real data with fake data to provide privacy. Our privacy-preserving clustering protocol is very efficient whereas the previous privacy-preserving protocols in the distributed environments are not practical to be used in real applications. The efficiency of our privacy-preserving clustering protocol over horizontally partitioned data is comparable with those of privacy-preserving clustering protocols in the non-distributed environments.
This paper presents a method for clustering short text documents, such as news headlines, social media statuses, or instant messages. Due to the characteristics of these documents, which are usually short and sparse, an appropriate technique is required to discover hidden knowledge. The objective of this paper is to identify the combination of document representation, document distance, and document clustering that yields the best clustering quality. Document representations are expanded by external knowledge sources represented by a Distributed Representation. To cluster documents, a K-means partitioning-based clustering technique is applied, where the similarities of documents are measured by word mover's distance. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, experiments were conducted to compare the clustering quality against several leading methods. The proposed method produced clusters of documents that resulted in higher precision, recall, F1-score, and adjusted Rand index for both real-world and standard data sets. Furthermore, manual inspection of the clustering results was conducted to observe the efficacy of the proposed method. The topics of each document cluster are undoubtedly reflected by members in the cluster.

The deployment of geographically distributed wireless sensors has greatly elevated the capability of monitoring structural health in social-overhead capital (SOC) public infrastructures. This paper deals with the utilization of a distributed mobility management (DMM) approach for the deployment of wireless sensing devices in a structural health monitoring system (SHM). Then, a wireless sensing mechanism utilizing low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH)-based clustering algorithm for smart sensors has been analyzed to support the seamless data transmission of structural health information which is essentially important to guarantee public safety. The clustering of smart sensors will be able to provide real-time monitoring of structural health and a filtering algorithm to boost the transmission of critical information over heterogeneous wireless and mobile networks.

Mobile ad-hoc network(MANET) can increase independence and flexibility of network because it consists of mobile node without the aid of fixed infrastructure. But, Because of unrestriction for the participation and breakaway of node, it has the difficulty in management and stability which is a basic function of network operation. Therefore, to solve those problems, we suggest a distributed weighted clustering algorithm from a manageable and stable point of view. The suggested algorithm uses distributed weighted clustering algorithm when it initially forms the cluster and uses a concept which is distributed gateway and sub-cluster head to reduce the re-clustering to the minimum which occurs mobile nodes after forming the cluster. For performance evaluation, We compare DCA and WCA with the suggested algorithm on the basis of initial overhead, resubscriber rate and a number of cluster.

The application of Wireless Sensor Networks requires a wise utilization of limited energy resources. Therefore, a wide range of routing protocols with a motivation to prolong the lifetime of a network has been proposed in recent years. Hierarchical clustering based protocols have become an object of a large number of studies that aim to efficiently utilize the limited energy of network components. In this paper, the effect of mismatch in parameter estimation is discussed to evaluate the robustness of a distanced based algorithm called distributed clustering protocol in homogeneous and heterogeneous environment. For quantitative analysis, performance simulations for this protocol are carried out in terms of the network lifetime which is the main criteria of efficiency for the energy limited system.

Clustering is one of the key technologies in vehicular networks. Constructing and maintaining stable clusters is a challenging task in high mobility environments. DWCM (Distributed and Weighted Clustering based on Mobility Metrics) is proposed in this paper based on the d-hop dominating set of the network. Each vehicle is assigned a priority that describes the cluster relationship. The cluster structure is determined according to the d-hop dominating set, where the vehicles in the d-hop dominating set act as the cluster head nodes. In addition, cluster maintenance handles the cluster structure changes caused by node mobility. The rationality of the proposed algorithm is proven. Simulation results in the NS-2 and VanetMobiSim integrated environment demonstrate the performance advantages.

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), cluster based data routing protocols have the advantages of reducing energy consumption and link maintenance cost. Unfortunately, most of clustering protocols have been designed for uniformly distributed sensor networks. However, some urgent situations do not allow thousands of sensor nodes being deployed uniformly. For example, air vehicles or balloons may take the responsibility for deploying sensor nodes hence leading a normally distributed topology. In order to improve energy efficiency in such sensor networks, in this paper, we propose a new cluster formation algorithm named DAEEC (Density Aware Energy-Efficient Clustering). In this algorithm, we define two kinds of clusters: Low Density (LD) clusters and High Density (HD) clusters. They are determined by the number of nodes participated in one cluster. During the data routing period, the HD clusters help the neighbor LD clusters to forward the sensed data to the central base station. Thus, DAEEC can distribute the energy dissipation evenly among all sensor nodes by considering the deployment density to improve network lifetime and average energy savings. Moreover, because the HD clusters are densely deployed they can work in a manner of our former algorithm EEVAR (Energy Efficient Variable Area Routing Protocol) to save energy. According to the performance analysis result, DAEEC outperforms the conventional data routing schemes in terms of energy consumption and network lifetime.

This paper introduces the PC clustering of the SIMD structure for a distributed processing of on-line contingency to assess a static security of a power system. To execute on-line contingency analysis of a large-scale power system, we need to use high-speed execution device. Therefore, we constructed PC-cluster system using PC clustering method of the SIMD structure and applied to a power system, which relatively shows high quality on the high-speed execution and has a low price. SIMD(single instruction stream, multiple data stream) is a structure that processes are controlled by one signal. The PC cluster system is consisting of 8 PCs. Each PC employs the 2 GHz Pentium 4 CPU and is connected with the others through ethernet switch based fast ethernet. Also, we consider N-1 line contingency that have high potentiality of occurrence realistically. We propose the distributed process algorithm of the SIMD structure for reducing too much execution time on the on-line N-1 line contingency analysis in the large-scale power system. And we have verified a usefulness of the proposed algorithm and the constructed PC cluster system through IEEE 39 and 118 bus system.
