Objectives The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of attachment security, social support and health-related burden in the prediction of psychological distress and the mediation effects of social support and health-related burden in relationship between attachment security and psychological distress. Methods Finally, 161 patients were included for the analysis. Chi-square test and independent samples t-test were used for comparing differences between depressive/anxious group and non-depressive/non-anxious group. For evaluating the relationship among attachment security, social support, psychological distress and health-related burden, structural equation modeling analysis were performed. Results 40.7% and 32.0% of the patients have significant depressive symptoms and anxiety symptoms, respectively. In the analysis for testing the differences between groups who have psychological distress and who have not, there were no significant differences of sociodemographic factors and medical characteristics between groups, except for association between depressive symptoms and type of surgery (p = 0.01). Contrary to sociodemographic and medical characteristics, there were significant differences of health-related burden and two coping resources (attachment security and social support) between groups (all p < 0.01), except for the support from medical team in between anxious group and non-anxious group (p = 0.20). In the structural equation model analysis (Model fit : chi-square/df ratio = 0.8, root mean square error of approximation = 0.000, comparative fit index = 1.000, non-normed fit index =0.991), attachment security and social support emerged as an important predictor of psychopathology. Conclusions Attachment security and social support are important factors affecting the psychological distress. We suggest that individual attachment style and the social support state must be considered to approach the newly diagnosed breast cancer patients with psychological distress.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of integrated psychoeducational program for distress management of newly diagnosed patients with breast cancer. Methods: A quasi-experimental trial was conducted. The participants consisted of 47 female patients with breast cancer assigned to an intervention group (n=25) and control group (n=22). The intervention group participated in integrated psychoeducational program, consisting of individual face-to-face education and telephone-delivered health-coaching sessions. Data were collected at three time points: pre-intervention (T1), post-intervention (T2), and 6-month follow-up (T3). Study instruments were Distress thermometer, Supportive Care Needs Survey Short Form 34 and Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast. Results: Compared with the control group, breast cancer patients in the intervention group reported lower distress and supportive care needs than the control group. The intervention group reported higher quality of life (QOL) overall and higher emotional well-being than the control group. Conclusion: These findings indicate that the integrated psychoeducational program is an effective intervention for reducing distress and supportive care needs and increasing QOL of newly diagnosed patients with breast cancer. Oncology nurses need to provide psychoeducational intervention to support patients with breast cancer in managing their distress and helping them adjust to their life.

This study was conducted to evaluate the nursing practice environment, moral distress, and the factors that influence person-centered care and the experience of person-centered care among nurses working in a long-term care hospitals. 154 nurses who was working in long-term care hospitals in D city and G province were evaluated. Date were collected from May 1st to 31th, 2020 and analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. The mean score of nursing practice environment was 2.42, the moral distress was 3.27, and person-centered care was 3.60. Person-centered care showed significantly positive correlations with moral distress(r=.53, p<.001) and showed significantly positive correlations with nursing practice environment(r=.32, p<.001). Regression analysis revealed that the factors which significantly influenced person-centered care were nursing practice environment and moral distress. Therefore, in order to increase person-centered care, nursing intervention programs that improve the nursing practice environment and reduce moral disgtress are required for nurses working in long-term care hospitals.

This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of Risk Profile, Good Corporate Governance (GCG), Earnings, Capital (RGEC), and Earnings per Share (EPS) on stock prices with financial distress as an intervening variable. The sampling technique used purposive sampling based on certain criteria and data used was secondary data, that is, annual reports of commercial banks in Indonesia for the period of 2012-2018 with a sample of 23 banks from a total population of 81 banks. This type of research is explanative with a quantitative descriptive approach to describe or explain quantitative data. The data obtained was analyzed using SEM (Structural Equation Model) with the AMOS Program. The results showed that RGEC, EPS, and financial distress affect stock prices. This is based on testing the direct effect as indicated by a p-value that is smaller than 0.05. Based on the mediation test, the results show that financial distress cannot mediate the effect of RGEC and EPS on stock prices as indicated by a p-value greater than 0.05. The implication of this research is very important for investors to analyze stock price changes based on RGEC, EPS, and financial distress to gain profits. In addition, there are various warning signs indicating that a company is experiencing financial distress or it is heading towards such a state. Being aware of these signs can help prevent failure.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the psychological distress related to quality of life (QoL) of patients with colorectal cancer receiving 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) chemotherapy at home with disposable Elastomeric infusion pumps. Methods: In this study, 179 colorectal outpatients were recruited between September 2019 and January 2021. National Cancer Center Psychological Symptom Inventory scores, general self-efficacy, and the EORTC QLQ-C30 scores were measured. Data were analyzed using Independent t-test, One-way ANOVA with Bonferroni post hoc analysis, and hierarchical multiple linear regression with the SPSS/WIN 26.0 programs. Results: The overall prevalence of psychological distress was 52.0% in colorectal patients. In multiple regression, psychological distress (β=-.20, p=.005), appetite loss (β=-.20, p=.001), chemotherapy cycles (β= .19, p=.002), fatigue (β=-.16, p=.035), physical functioning (β=-.16, p=.024), and emotional functioning (β=-.15, p=.025) were significant factors of QoL, and the final model explained 45.0% of the total variance of QoL. Conclusion: Supporting patients toward decreased psychological distress and increased physical and emotional functioning, especially in the first or second cycle of chemotherapy, could be used to improve their QoL. To consider the thresholds for clinical importance, it is necessary to increase the interpretation of psychological distress in clinical practice and further research.
Objective : To estimate the magnitude of psychosocial distress and examine eligible factors associated with the development of psychosocial distress in Korean employees, using a nationwide sample. Methods : A total of 6,977 workers were recruited from 245 companies. A structured questionnaire was used to assess sociodemographics, health-related behaviors, job characteristics, social support at work, personality traits (locus of control, type A behavior pattern), self-esteem, and psychosocial distress. Results : The results showed that 23 % of workers were categorized as high stress, 73% as moderate, and 5% as normal. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed that psychosocial distress was more common in younger workers, both male and female. Regular exercise was negatively associated with increase of psychosocial distress. In job characteristics, as expected, low decision latitude, high job insecurity, and low social support at work were related to high psychosocial distress. Personality traits such as locus of control and type A behavior pattern, and self-esteem were more powerful predictors of psychosocial distress than general characteristics, health-related behavior, and job characteristics. There were some gender differences. While men who are less educated and single (unmarried, divorced, and separated) experienced higher levels of psychosocial distress than those who are educated and married, women who feel high job demand experienced higher levels of psychosocial distress than those who feel low job demand. Conclusions : The proportion of the high stress group was higher than expected, and psychosocial factors like social support and personality characteristics (e. g. locus of control, type A behavior pattern and self-esteem) were more significant factors for psychosocial distress than other variables. This finding suggests that some psychosocial factors, especially inadequate social support, low self-esteem and lack of internal locus of control for the development of psychosocial distress, will also operate as an intervention strategy in the worksite stress reduction program. It is strongly required that worksite stress reduction programs should be established in at both occupational and level as well as in individual levels.
Objective: To investigate psychological distress and fertility quality of life (FertiQoL) in infertile Korean women, and to investigate whether a correlation exists between psychological distress and FertiQoL. Methods: Participants in this study were made up of 141 infertile women and 65 fertile women. We conducted a survey on psychological distress (using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales [DASS]-42 questionnaire) and administered a FertiQoL questionnaire. The levels of stress hormones (adrenocorticotropic hormone [ACTH] and cortisol) in serum were assessed. Results: The scores for depression ($13.7{\pm}8.4$), anxiety ($10.7{\pm}6.4$), and stress ($18.0{\pm}8.3$) among the infertile women were significantly higher than the scores for depression ($9.4{\pm}7.5$), anxiety ($6.6{\pm}6.0$), and stress ($12.2{\pm}8.3$, p<0.001) among the fertile women. There was no difference in the scores for depression ($13.5{\pm}8.2$, $13.8{\pm}8.6$), anxiety ($10.0{\pm}6.2$, $11.5{\pm}6.6$) and stress ($17.7{\pm}8.4$, $18.4{\pm}8.1$) between younger (${\leq}34$) and older (${\geq}35$) participants. The mind-body (r =-0.495) and emotional (r =-0.590) subscales showed a higher negative correlation with stress compared with other scales of psychological distress. At the same time, the social (r =-0.537) and relational (r =-0.385) subscales showed a higher negative correlation with depression. Levels of cortisol and ACTH in infertile women were $9.1{\mu}g/mL$ and 11.9 pg/mL, respectively, which are within normal ranges. Conclusion: The levels of psychological distress and quality of life in infertile Korean women seem to require psychological intervention. This study provides a baseline measurement of psychological distress and FertiQoL in infertile women in Korea, which will be available for developing psychological interventions for infertile Korean women.

This study examined the sexual function, sexual distress, and quality of life of middle-aged women with osteoarthritis, as well as the factors influencing the quality of life. The participants were 121 middle-aged women who have been suffering osteoarthritis. Data collection was conducted from September 1 to October 31, 2019. The instruments were the Female Sexual Distress Scale (FSDS), the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Assessment Instrument (WHOQLO) -BREF scale. Data were collected with structured questionnaires and analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. A positive correlation was observed between sexual function and quality of life, whereas sexual distress had a negative correlation between sexual function and the quality of life. Factors affecting the quality of life of middle-aged women with osteoarthritis were sexual function, sexual distress, which explained 16.1%. Sexual distress, sexual function, and quality of life showed a correlation. Therefore, it is important to develop a nursing intervention that can improve the sexual function and reduce the sexual distress of middle-aged women with osteoarthritis to improve their quality of life.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate prevalence of psychiatric symptoms and determine predictors of emotional distress of military hospital surgical patients. Methods : This study examined 104 orthopedic patients admitted to the Armed Forces Military Hospital September-November 2018. For the study, every subject completed self-assessment inventories regarding depressive and anxiety symptoms (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale), sleep problems (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index), problematic alcohol and tobacco use (Cut off, Annoyed, Guilty, Eye-opener screening), and psychiatric history. We performed the Student's t-test and the chi-square test for the collected data to investigate the prevalence of psychiatric symptoms, including emotional distress. Logistic regression analysis was used to examine the risk factors related to emotional distress of hospitalized military personnel. Results : There were no significant differences in socio-demographic and psychiatric symptoms between soldiers and officers. The prevalence of depressive and/or anxiety symptoms (emotional distress) was 21.2% (n=21). In the logistic regression analysis, psychiatric history [Adjusted Odds Ratio (AOR)=18.99 ; 95% Confidence Interval (CI)=1.42-253.57 ; p=0.026] and low military life satisfaction (AOR=15.67; 95% CI=1.46-168.11 ; p=0.023) correlated with emotional distress. Conclusion : Soldiers admitted to the military hospital showed similar prevalence of emotional distress as those at general hospitals. Considering military circumstances, it is necessary to detect and intervene regarding soldiers with a psychiatric history and low military life satisfaction to promote mental health at military hospitals.

In the study, the moral sensitivity, moral distress, and biomedical ethics awareness levels of hospital nurses are examined, and the mediating effect of biomedical ethics awareness in the relationship between moral sensitivity and moral distress is verified. As the study subjects, 153 hospital nurses were selected from both university hospitals and general hospitals in S city and J city. Using the SPSS WIN 21.0 system, data analysis was conducted via t-tests, the Sheffe test, correlation analysis, multiple regression analyses, Sobel test. The average level of moral sensitivity experienced by the hospital nurses was 4.70(out of 7), moral distress was 62.80(out of 336), and biomedical ethics awareness was 2.21(out of 4). Moral distress had a static correlation with moral sensitivity and biochemical ethics awareness, and moral sensitivity had a static correlation with biomedical ethics awareness. Finally, biomedical ethics awareness showed a partial mediating effect in the relationship between moral sensitivity and moral distress. It is important to develop a biomedical ethics education program that can help hospital nurses to resolve moral issues, thereby improving moral sensitivity and diminishing their moral distress.
