  • Multi-Channel Switch ICs for IoT have integrated several solid state structure low ON-resistance bi-directional relay MOS switches with level shifter to drive high voltage and they should be independently controlled by external serialized logic control. These devices are designed for using in applications requiring high-voltage switching control by low-voltage control signals, such as medical ultra-sound imaging, ink-jet printer control, bare board open/short and leakage test system using Kelvin 4-terminal measurement method. This paper describes implementation of analog switch control block and its verification using Field programmable Gate Array (FPGA) test pattern generation. Each block has been implemented using Verilog hardware description language then simulated by Modelsim and prototyped in a FPGA board. Compare to conventional IC, The proposed architecture can be applied to fields where multiple entities need to be controlled simultaneously in the IoT environment and the proposed pattern generation method can be applied to test similar types of ICs.

  • The aim of this study was to assess the cytotoxic effects of various concentrations of miltefosine on Leishmania major (MRHO/IR/75/ER) and L. tropica (MHOM/IR/02/Mash10) promastigotes and to observe the programmed cell death features. The colorimetric MTT assay was used to find L. major and L. tropica viability and the obtained results were expressed as 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50). Also, 50% effective doses (ED50) for L. major and L. tropica amastigotes were also determined, Annexin-V FLUOS staining was performed to study the cell death properties of miltefosine using FAGS analysis. Qualitative analysis of the total genomic DNA fragmentation was performed by agarose gel electrophoresis. Furthermore, to observe changes in cell morphology, promastigotes were examined using light microscopy. In both strains of L. major and L. tropica, miltefosine induced dose-dependent death with features of apoptosis, including cell shrinkage, DNA laddering, and externalization of phosphatidylserine. The IC50 was achieved at 22 ${\mu}M$ and 11 ${\mu}M$ for L. major and L. tropica after 48 hr of incubation, respectively. ED50 of L. major and L. tropica amastigotes were 5.7 ${\mu}M$ and 4.2 ${\mu}M$, respectively. Our results indicate that miltefosine induces apoptosis of the causative agent of cutaneous leishmaniasis in a dose-dependent manner. Interestingly, L. major did not display any apoptotic changes when it was exposed to miltefosine in concentrations sufficient to kill L. tropica.

  • Recently, the demand for high definition TV is being increased by beginning of the digital broadcasting. The higher resolution of PDP is, the longer addressing time become, then, the sustain period for display image decreases. Because of the reason, dual-scan method which synchronously write information of an image on top and bottom of the screen is used for the high definition PDP. However, as the price competition of PDP becomes severe, we can`t avoid turning to a single-scan method which uses only a half of an expensive address IC. Accordingly, the sustain period becomes much shorter than prior method. In case of XGA level, it is impossible to display, eventually. In this paper, we are going to prove usefulness by realizing negative reset waveform and the driving circuit for high speed addressing.

  • The voltages for pixel electrodes on LCD panels are supplied with analog voltages from LCD Driver ICs (LDIs). The latest LDI developed for large LCD TV's has suffered from the degradation of analog output characteristics (target voltage: AVO and output voltage deviation: dVO). By the failure analysis, humps in $I_D-V_G$ curves have been observed in high voltage (HV) NMOS devices for input transistors in amplifiers. The hump is investigated to be the main cause of the deviation for the driving current in HV NMOS transistors. It also makes the matching between two input transistors worse and consequently aggravates the analog output characteristics. By simply modifying the active layout of HV NMOS transistors, this hump was removed and the analog characteristics (AVO &dVO) were improved significantly. In the help of the improved analog characteristics, it also became possible to reduce the size of the input transistors less than a half of conventional transistors and significantly improve the integration density of LDIs.

  • In this paper, we measured 3-dimensional temporal behavior of the light emitted from discharge cell of plasma display panel(PDP) as a function of the pressure using the scanned point detecting system. The detected light signal through the PM tube is sent on the oscilloscope and oscilloscope which is connected to PC with GPIB. The whole system is controlled by a PC. From the temporal behavior results, we could analyze the discharge behavior of panel with Ne-Xe(4%) mixing gas and 300torr, 400torr, 500torr pressure. The top view of panel shows that the discharge moves from inner edge of cathode electrode to outer cathode electrode forming arc type. At the 300torr, initial emission time is very fast. The side view of panel shows that the light is detected up to $150{\mu}m$ height of barrier rib. In the panel of 300torr, emission distribution is wider than the others.

  • DDI(Display Driver IC) are used to drive numerous pixels that make up display. For stable driving of DDI, it is necessary to attach a protective film to shield electromagnetic waves. When the protective film is attached, defects often occur if the film is inclined or the center point is not aligned. In order to minimize such defects, an algorithm for correcting the center point and the inclined angle using camera image information is required. This technology detects the corner coordinates of the protective film by image processing in order to correct the positional defects where the protective film is attached. Corner point coordinates are detected using an algorithm, and center point position finds and correction values are calculated using the detected coordinates. LUT (Lookup Table) is used to quickly find out whether the angle is inclined or not. These algorithms were described by Verilog HDL. The method using the existing software requires a memory to store the entire image after processing one image. Since the method proposed in this paper is a method of scanning by adding a line buffer in one scan, it is possible to scan even if only a part of the image is saved after processing one image. Compared to those written in software language, the execution time is shortened, the speed is very fast, and the error is relatively small.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate types and characteristics of chemical substances used in LCD(Liquid crystal display) panel manufacturing process. Methods: The LCD panel manufacturing process is divided into the fabrication(fab) process and module process. The use of chemical substances by process was investigated at four fab processes and two module processes at two domestic TFT-LCD(Thin film transistor-Liquid crystal display) panel manufacturing sites. Results: LCD panels are manufactured through various unit processes such as sputtering, chemical vapor deposition(CVD), etching, and photolithography, and a range of chemicals are used in each process. Metal target materials including copper, aluminum, and indium tin oxide are used in the sputtering process, and gaseous materials such as phosphine, silane, and chlorine are used in CVD and dry etching processes. Inorganic acids such as hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid are used in wet etching process, and photoresist and developer are used in photolithography process. Chemical substances for the alignment of liquid crystal, such as polyimides, liquid crystals, and sealants are used in a liquid crystal process. Adhesives and hardeners for adhesion of driver IC and printed circuit board(PCB) to the LCD panel are used in the module process. Conclusions: LCD panels are produced through dozens of unit processes using various types of chemical substances in clean room facilities. Hazardous substances such as organic solvents, reactive gases, irritants, and toxic substances are used in the manufacturing processes, but periodic workplace monitoring applies only to certain chemical substances by law. Therefore, efforts should be made to minimize worker exposure to chemical substances used in LCD panel manufacturing process.

  • The thermal and optical properties of glucose penta(cholesteryloxycarbonyl)alkanoates (CAGLn, n = 2~8, 10, the number of methylene units in the spacer) were investigated. All the CAGLn formed monotropic cholesteric phases with left-handed helical structures. CAGLn with n = 2 or 10, in contrast with CAGLn with $3{\leq}n{\leq}8$, did not display reflection colors over the full cholesteric range, suggesting that the helical twisting power of the cholesteryl group highly depends on the length of the spacer joining the cholesteryl group to the glucose chain. The isotropic-cholesteric transition point ($T_{ic}$) decreased with increasing n and showed no odd-even effect. The plot of transition entropy at $T_{ic}$ against n had a sharp negative inflection at n = 7. The optical pitches (${{\lambda}_m}^{\prime}$ s) of CAGLn with $3{\leq}n{\leq}8$ decreased with increasing temperature. However, the temperature dependence of the ${\lambda}_m$ of the derivatives exhibited pronounced dependence on n. The transitional properties and the temperature dependence of the ${\lambda}_m$ observed for CAGLn were discussed in terms of the differences in arrangement of the cholesteryl groups and the conformation of the molecules.

  • A CMOS rail-to-rail high voltage buffer amplifier is proposed to drive the gamma correction reference voltage of large TFT LCD panels. It is operating by a single supply and only shows current consumption of 0.5mA at 18V power supply voltage. The circuit is designed to drive the gamma correction voltage of 8-bit or 10-bit high resolution TFT LCD panels. The buffer has high slew rate, 0.5mA static current and 1k$\Omega$ resistive and capacitive load driving capability. Also, it offers wide supply range, offset voltages below 50mV at 5mA constant output current, and below 2.5mV input referred offset voltage. To achieve wide-swing input and output dynamic range, current mirrored n-channel differential amplifier, p-channel differential amplifier, a class-AB push-pull output stage and a input level detector using hysteresis comparator are applied. The proposed circuit is realized in a high voltage 0.18um 18V CMOS process technology for display driver IC. The circuit operates at supply voltages from 8V to 18V.

  • The thermal and optical properties of cellobiose octa(cholestryloxycarbonyl)alkanoates CCCBn, $n=2{\sim}8$,10, the number of methylene units in the spacer) were investigated. All the samples formed monotropic cholesteric phases with left-handed helical structures. CCBn with n=2 or 10, in contrast with CCBn with $3{\leq}n{\leq}8$, did not display reflection colors over the full cholesteric range, suggesting that the helical twisting power of the cholesteryl group highly depends on the length of the spacer connecting the cholesteryl group to the cellobiose chain. The isotropic-cholestropic transition ($T_{ic}$) and glass transition temperatures decreased with increasing n and showed no odd-even effect. The transition entropy at $T_{ic}$ increased with increasing n from 2 up 6, but at n=7 it drops significantly and then increased again with increasing n from 8 to 10. The sharp change at n=7 may be attributed to a difference in arrangement of the side groups. The thermal stability and degree of order in the mesophase and the temperature dependence of the optical pitch observed for CCBn were significantly different from those reported for the cellulose tri(cholesteryloxycarbonyl)alkanoates and glucose penta(cholesteryloxycarbonyl)alkanoates. The results were discussed in terms of the differences in the degree of polymerization, the number of the mesogenic units per mole-glucose unit, and the conformation of the molecules.
